Do you have to have a good voice to rap?
I'm 17, and write lyrics a lot. Nothing big, if ever i think of few good bars i'll just write them in memo on my phone or on papper then edit/add to them later when i get home. I love rap, as a lot do i guess but my love is the kind where i'd love to do it as a career. I only record myself on a rubbish mike i found in my house then record it... but some of/most of my recording sound rubbish. My opinion i think my lyrics are okay yet i think my voice sounds too deep, or to flat. How to have a good singing voice?
I think that u can sing alone in ur room and pick a song that u really like and play it over and over again.Once u get the hang of singing that song.Try singing it with more feelings like u want to be a singer. when u grow up. and then try singing different songs. Thats what I did before and it worked, well I wouldn't say that I stink at singing before its just I practice and practice,then I get better everyday and u can try that too. Gud Luck! How can I tell if I have a good singing voice? I recorded myself with my phone and it sounded weird/cringy, yet others tell me I sound good.
I am a professional vocal coach and I am often asked “do I have a good voice,? can I become a singer? should I take voice lessons ?It is almost impossible to give an answer.If you like to sing, join a choir and listen to others. If your voice sounds ok , they will let you know and if it doesn’t then you will certainly be told.A good voice is no guarantee that you can become a popular singer , infact the voice is pretty unimportant in today’s technical world. How old are you, what do you look like, can you dance, act , speak various languages (classical singers). To train your voice requires DAILY hard work. A good coach can do a great deal but you must want to sing more than anything. Never listen to what friends , family etc say. Find a good honest teacher and trust him or her. Do not forget normally at Auditions there are about 400 singers per day trying out for 3 or 4 jobs. Get ready for lots of rejections . If this has not deterred you , then good luck!!!!
Can I become a singer if I don't have a good voice?
There are some things to considerAlmost everyone hates his/her own voice. In most cases yes. Cause when you talk you listen your voice from coming from your head (closely). But when you record it on something, then play it, it sounds a lot worse than the voice you listen you hear coming from your head. So, your voice may sound like weird when you record it on something. But everybody else who usually listen your voice won’t find it bad as you do. So, you can’t say for sure if a voice is good or bad.The voice is an important thing. But vocal/singing technique is even more important. I am not a singer, but I have seen some people singing good even though they don’t have good voice. Sometimes good singing technique could make your song a lot better. So, train yourself for having a good vocal. A lot of people have good voice, but they can’t sing cause they can’t hold notes properly.Sometimes singing style also matters. If you’re singing ballad. You got to have voice like slow, warm, thin. Robert Plant, Steven Tyler, Klaus Meine, Paul McCartney etc. If you wanna sing metal you gotta have strong powerful voice. Ronnie James Dio, Bruce Dickinson, Rob Halford, Hansi Kürsch etc. If you want to growl then you gotta have harsh voice. Chuck Schuldiner, Mikael Åkerfeldt, Muhammed Suiçmez. So, each singer has his/her own kind of voice according to his/her style. Apart from genres, sometimes good balance of singing could make a song better. For example Ozzy Osborune. I think he really have a weak voice. His singing isn’t that better. But his sung song on Crazy Train was awesome. Cause it had a good rhythm.There are lots of singers who have bad voice. They simply can’t sing or have bad voice. For example Billie Joe Armstrong, Geddy Lee, Bob Dylan, Dave Mustaine etc. But they do sing, don’t they? They’re also famous.So, consider the points I’ve mentioned above you should decide by yourself whether or how could you sing.
