Some help with tonsil stones please?

So I am pretty sure this lump on my tonsil is a tonsil stone. I know they are not harmful and I do get them sometimes. When researching them I read that they are most prevalent in people with tonsillitis or people who's tonsils swell often. Is that true? Or does everyone get them because I haven't had a problem with my tonsils since I was 9 or 10 and now I am 19.

How do you get rid of tonsil stones?

My husband gets these all the time because he has such bad gastric reflux. Take heartburn meds or tums to help your tonsils out.

TONSIL STONES? please help.?

ohkay, so until i was 18 i never had tonsil stones or anything like that... I've smoked cigs since I was 14 but they never caused me any problems with my tonsils or created tonsil stones...
when I turned 17 i started to smoke meth, all day everyday. within about 4 months of smoking meth my tonsils enlarged about three times what they were before I did meth, and the holes in my tonsils started to instantly FILL UP with white junk as soon as i hit the bowl. [i know its disgusting, but i was ****** up all the time so ):] ... but anyways, now that im clean, stuff does not grow in my tonsils, but i do have the occasional tonsil stone from food or whatever...
but my tonsils never went back down in size,
so i guess my question is,
has this happened to anyone else ; doubt it lol....

& after you get your tonsils removed, is there anywhere else in your throat for food to get caught in, as it does in the tonsil crypts? like your adenoids? or any other little holes or crypts for stuff to get stuck in?

Do I have lymphoma or is it tonsil stones?

Ok hello guys! I'm a hypochondriac but please hear me out - we do have health problems sometimes too!

OK so a week and a half ago I noticed a swelling of my submental lymph node (under the chin - firm, tender when pushed hard, >1.5cm). I went to the doctor who said I had tonsillitis. I was treated for tonsillitis but the swelling didn't go down.

While at the doctors I had several tests done (these tests were done not because of my doctor being worried about me having something but rather because she knows of my anxiety and that having these tests done would relieve my anxiety)

Blood tests for every organ - Clear
Blood sugar level - Normal
Blood pressure - Slightly low (because I missed breakfast that day)
Urine test - Clear
Physical examination of organs - Normal
Digital Rectal Examination - Clear
Inspection of ears, throat, and chest - Everything normal apart from tonsils.

Lately, I have noticed white spots that come and go on my tonsils. After researching the internet, I soon found that I had tonsil stones. (bad breath, reoccurring tonsillitis, white tongue, throat tightness). I have read somewhere also that these tend to make the lymph nodes swell?

Is it normal to feel tiny lymph nodes above adams apple (firm, >1cm) if you dig deeply?

Do I have lymphoma? Or am I being too anxious?

Can a doctor remove tonsil stones for me?

here is a link to the answer to your problem which is actually called Tonsillolith. A doctor will probably help you out but wouldn't it be easier if you just have your tonsils removed? I mean that is a possibility, that's it you get rid of the problem.

How common are tonsil stones?

they are actually quite common but most people barely even notice them and eventually they just swallow them or cough them up.

no everyone will get bad breath from them and if you have mints and gum a lot your mouth probably smells minty most of the time.

and they ARE just little pieces of food that get stuck in the crypts of your tonsils instead of going down your throat with the rest of the food.

yes its possible to only get them in one tonsil all the time. that just means that one tonsil has more crypts than the other.

basically all you can do is try to get them out with your finger or by another means. the only way to get rid of them for good is to have your tonsils removed.
if they are very bothersome to you and give you symptoms like a sore throat every day, feeling like there is something in your throat all the time, coughing fits, feeling like you constantly need to clear your throat, and bad breath then you may want to consider seeing an ENT (ear, nose, throat dr) to discuss having a tonsillectomy.

How do I stop getting tonsil stones?

I have been getting tonsil stones for years! I just recently found out what they are (eww gross...thank you Yahoo! Answers). Anyway, I have tried using a dental pick, water irrigation, coughing. I have pretty good hygeine ( i floss daily and brush at least twice a day). I do have sinus problems sometimes, so I don't know if that is the prob...anyone have any suggestions on how to avoid getting them??

Tonsil stone stuck in my throat I think?

oh man, i feel your pain. i used to have the same problem as you where i could feel it every time i swallowed (like popcorn kernel stuck to the back of my tongue). then i did some research on it and saw that most people who have them use something to remove it. i would not recommend using anything sharp b/c it will make your tonsil bleed. you don't want to risk some weird infections.

i usually use my finger (make sure your nails are trimmed) and push on it and it comes out. i also get them on my left tonsil and they grow every few weeks. its disgusting but i just don't want to have my tonsils removed (i've read that tonsillectomy is horribly painful for adults).
