Studio Art: Photography... What Do I write about in a "Potential Direction"?
Monique I have no idea, but I like your avatar photo. You have to give us the context of the question. In realtion to what was this asked? Maybe it is about leading your eyes into a direction when you view the photo, i.e if their is a footpath or something that disapears in the distance ?
I have had several photographers tell me that they love shooting me. Is this a ploy or do I have actual modeling potential?
Well congratulations, you seem to have a form of beauty.There are different kinds of beauty, and beauty is in the eye of the behilder. But several photographers asking, you can be quite sure you have ‘something’Now, I don’t know you, and even les the persons asking to photograph you. But bfefore you agree for a photo session, think about the folowing.On forehand, think about how far you want to go, and stick to this.Running arround an autumn forrest in a sweater is nothing to worry about, but as clothes get fewer, you might get more uncomfortable. And you alone can judge was is acceptable here.Some will have problems modelling swimsuites, others notSome have problems modelling daisy dukes, while swimming gear is not a problem.Nude photography is something you realy have to be comfortable with, or pass on it.See a good decent photographer might get a bit disappointed, but will truely respect YOUR boundaries. But sadly, photographers do come in all kinds, and some do not like to take no for an answer.In the end modelling can be quite fun. If you are talking shots to be published or professional photographers, you might even negotiate a fee. A Photographer Said I Looked Like A Model!? Could That Mean...?
He's a friend of a friend. He's studying photography at the local college and he already has his own buisness. He was talking to me and i was just making polite conversation, and he said that (from my display picture) I looked like a model. I was flattered and said thankyou. then he said that he didn't mean it in a pervy way, but he's a photographer. I wouldn't go to him and i don't know him and he's not very well established etc. But does that mean that modelling isn't something i should cancel out? I've always thought there was no point seeing as i'd never make it, nobody does and i'm probably not very pretty anyway. What do you think i should make of this? what should i do about it? What are my chances of becoming a photographer?
"Digital One" gave you the best answer there could possibly be to your question. Hopefully you will let it sink in and not ignore it. I wish someone had sat me down with as good advice before I spent / lost tons of money on my photography "business". I will admit, I made the same mistake lots of others on here have or will do. They think just because they have a decent camera and can take some above average photos, that they can be "in business". Believe me, it does not work that way. Photography is photography... and business is business. If you are not a GOOD business person, you will fail no matter how great a photographer you are. I have a deep interest in photography. How should I convince my parents for that?
Take some of your best shots of creative pics… Have them edited with light room or photoshop CC also you can dig up some parameter changes in camera raw which gives you an out of world look to your raw pic.Best part is, make this with your family pic, some nature pics etc… Any one fine day , make a frame of them and have them hanged around…When your parents gets quizzed and asks you who did this, you can ask them to check the sign mark in the frame.I bet, after seeing, they go spell bound…You will get a green go for sure…Please post your work … Am eager too to see your awesome works…Keep Rocking ;) …… All the best …….
What kind of job can i get with a photography certificate?
Unfortunately a Photography Certificate will do very little to actually help you get a job. All it will do is show a potential employer that you took a few photography courses someplace. What will help you get a job in Photography is your Portfolio of the work you have done. Potential employers will want to see exactly what you can do, not what you should have learned. Your portfolio should contain work relevant to the position you are applying for. i.e. If for example you are applying for a job at a Sports Magazine, then your Portfolio should have a strong emphasis on Sports Photography. If on the other hand, you are applying for a job as a Wedding Photographer, then your portfolio should have a strong emphasis on wedding photography. And so on, and so on.
As a wedding photographer, what's the best way to close a sale with a potential client, considering the competition with cheaper photography services?
You need a quality answer which compels them to do two things:Be willing to pay more for qualityGive up personal info and meet you.I would ask you this though, they are emailing you for quotes… why? Do you have a website that is compelling enough that people would like you to work for them?Often times telling someone you are not the low cost leader is a good thing!Something in your response such as the following -“Thank you for your request for quotation and congratulations on your upcoming wedding. It would absolutely be my pleasure to create a custom quote for you and your partner. I would need to discuss xxxx and yyyy with the both of you and this is best done in person, so we can get to know eachother, as well as I could see your venue and start brainstorming ideas immediately!While I am quite competitive on price, because I use top quality “xxxx” “yyyy” I will not be the cheapest option out there.
