Do I Have The Concept Of Fungal Growth Correct

Do fungi have growth hormones that determine their shape during their development?

Fungi are not plants - they belong to an altogether different kingdom i.e. Fungi as per Carolus Linnaeus classification. As such, they do not possess any growth hormones. Their growth pattern is probably defined by their DNA.

What are the best conditions for fungi growth?

Conditions for best fungal growth :-Temperature: 25- 30 degree celcious.Humidity: high moist humid environment.pH: Moulds differ in their pH requirements. Most will grow well over the pH range 3-7. Some such as Aspergillus niger and Penicillium funiculosum can grow at pH 2 and below.Nutrients: Nutrient requirements for moulds may vary from mould to mould. Some moulds may thrive well on substrates with high sugar or salt content. Some may prefer simple sugars while others have the ability to utilize complex sugars.Light: Many moulds species grow well in the dark, but some prefer daylight or alternate light and darkness for them to produce spores.Aeration: Nearly all moulds require air to grow.

Will adding bleach to the water of a plant reduce fungus growth?

Bleach is sodium hyperchloride.....exclude me if I don't have the chlorine part correct. Anyway, sodium is the big no-no here. I really messes up the soil and thus the plants.

We get a dab of chlorine if our household water is chlorinated and some plants will react to that small amount....and no it doesn't reduce fungus growth in plants. I fear bleach's influence would be worse. It would kill the plant before a fungus would have a chance to grow.

Another problem is how the water is used within the plant. A high % is simply used as a transport from root to leaf, carrying along dissolved soil nutrients. The water does not react with the entire plant. Plus in the photosynthesis/respiration process, water is broken down and reassembled.....the basic hydrogen and oxygen parts. No way it would work it's way through the plant.

Good question though. Thank you.

Bleach in water will help keep the cruddies from forming in the water for cut flowers.

Fungus growth in electric rice cooker when i was on vacation?

infact in my exicitment and hurry to go on a vacation, i had forgotten to throw away the left over rice in the electric rice cooker utensil .i came back yesterday from a week long vacation and saw there was black, gray and white fungal growth inside the rice cooker utensil.
i have cleaned it and soaked it in the hot water.
is it ok ? what do i do?

Does light have an effect on the growth of bread mold?

The rate limiting factors to fungal growth are moisture, temperature and food. You will have varied both warmth and moisture.

Mold needs between 40 - 100F temperature to grow. What were the temperatures under each bulb?
Mold prefers the moisture content to be about 70% for optimal growth. Fresh breads are only about 40% so do not offer an optimal growth medium but it is still wet enough. (Some companies have published their typical moisture contents - white bread 36%, Oat bran bread 44% and canned Boston brown bread 47% - these will not be true for all bread but it gives a rough beginning range of 35 to 45%) If moisture drops below 10% mold is very unlikely to begin or continue. . This is why crackers can keep but bread cannot.

Keeping bread in the refrigerator will slow the growth of mold because:?

A. the activation energy for the chemical reactions in mold growth is higher at lower temperatures.

B. fewer collisions between molecules in the mold have the correct orientation to react.

C. the reactant molecules in the mold have less kinetic energy.

D. none of the above.

Why does fungi grow on fruits and bread?

Fungi reproduce by spreading microscopic spores. These spores are often present in the air and soil but in general spores are everywhere, and many strains grow on food. As long as the food provides perfect living conditions for the spore to survive and become a fungus it can spread.Fungus needs four things in order to grow:—Water (moisture)—Food—Suitable air quality—Temperature ( will grow best in damp, dark and cool conditions but can also grow in warmer temperatures as well).Food that contains any kind of water or fluid is susceptible to mold growth. In addition, fungus can only grow if it has food readily available to feed itself and grow. Fungus feeds off of dead or dying organic matter. How it forms on food in general:As mentioned before, Spores are present everywhere. Tiny mold spores are all around us in the air. Once a spore lands on a surface, it searches for water and nutrients to feed off of. Food is able to grow mold easily because it is often kept in the perfect environment to foster mold growth. The temperature is usually about right, air quality is good, and the food itself provides the nutrients and water the mold needs in order to grow. As the spore takes root, it begins to spread and create more spores and spread quickly on the surface of your food.

In what environment does fungus grow?

Fungi usually need dark and moist environments to thrive as higher temperatures and sunlight are fatal to them. In fact most bacteria and fungi prefer moist, dark environments.

What does it mean when you dream that things grow from your palms?

Those are really interesting dreams.

Hands in dreams often represent what you can do, create or accomplish, because in one way or another, almost everything you do involves your hands. Now the palm of your hand, that is what usually is referred to for holding stuff. For example, if someone refers to God holding someone in the palm of His hand, that person is thought of as being well cared for. Apologies if by some chance you are turned off by religious references; I use it only to illustrate palm.

Left versus right in dreams sometimes refer to what we have come to characterize as left and right brained. Left is logical, analytical, and unemotional - sort of like Spock on Star Trek. Right is creative, feeling, intuitive and in some sense "big picture" thinking. I have found at least one good dream interpreter say that left side of body is neurologically connected to right side of brain, and therefore left hand is creative, feeling, intuitive, etc. That would seem to fit for your dream. But in any event, think of the two hands as being two different ways, like the expression "On the one hand ... but on the other hand". They would be best in some kind balance.

What do you think of when you imagine the quill of a feather coming out of your right hand? My first thought was of an old fashioned pen, the kind they used to make out of feather quills. If that wasn't your association, then throw that away, but the interpretation depends on your own association with it. It if reminded you of a bird and flying, that could go one direction. Or if the pen was it for you also, and you are right-handed, then this could be saying something about writing. This is speculative without your feedback.

The fungus is curious. Fungi tend to grow in cool, dark, damp places, and on dead trees or plants. So this thing coming out of a fungus - would that mean somethingn is coming out of some dark or dying place? That depends on whether that seems to fit for you, that is if you feel you've had such experience, and in particular been thinking about that recently (the day or two before the dream - but its been a month, so you probably don't remember).

Hope this helps - its just a start for your interesting set of dreams.

Describe how you could get yeast cells to make a human growth hormone.?

You take the gene that encodes HGH and put it into a plasmid that has a strong yeast promoter. You transform the yeast and select using a nutrient marker like leucine or uracil. Make sure the plasmid has a 3' UTR from a yeast gene so that transcription stops efficiently.

I'm not sure if the yeast would secrete HGH or even if it would get made/modified correctly but that's how you'd do it.
