Do I Have Tinnitus How Long Can Ringing In Ears Last

Tinnitus?(ringing in ears) who has it!?

Hey man, Im 20 years old and I began having tinnitus when I was 19 after I left a club one night....

man oh man, I was freaking out, getting pissed and mad, and I didnt know what to do about the freaking noise I had in my left ear...

I learned to cope with it, I go about my normal every day activities and I invested in some good ear plugs that are practically invisible when I go places...

I can still go to clubs, parties and other loud events...I just got used to wearing those ear plugs because it's better to not cause any further damage to the ear...

I went to audiologist and he told me that since I had no hearing damage(according to audio test) that the tinnitus would subside in about 6 months....well....it didnt, sad to say but Im ok now...

I leave that behind me, I researched it, learned about it, read other peoples stories and learned that I am not alone, and that some have it much worse to the point of depression with thoughts of suicide.....

now thats bad....

I almost immediately felt better about it. My noise is still there and of course I only hope that maybe one day it will go away on its own or that there will be a cure for it....but for now I just live my life and wait.

Try to stay around background noise to take the focus off the sound...go to sleep with some music on(that helps me).

It really is terrible at first because you just think negative, but honestly, try to stay positive and keep your cool...

trust me, that will help you a lot.

Woke up with ringing in ear. Tinnitus??

Call your doctor. You may have something in your ear that they need to remove. Do you really want to listen to the ringing for a week just to SEE if it goes away?

How long will tinnitus last in ear after concert?

Those funny feelings in your ears after exposure to loud noise is a sign of damage to your hearing. It is permanent. If you keep it this exposure (by many concerts) you will eventually lose more hearing...and so it goes. Don't believe it? Google Pete Townsend...he's lost most of his hearing.

Pete Townshend going deaf

The Who rocker Pete Townshend is losing his hearing, and fears the disability will end his songwriting career. The musician, 60, blames his own brand of loud rock music for his increasing deafness, and is terrified the damage is irreversible.

But the guitarist is determined to create as much new music as possible, while he still can.

Townsend says, "I have unwittingly helped to invent and refine a type of music that makes its principal proponents deaf.

"This is a tour that rather depends on me writing new songs. The process has taken a long time. I've spoken about the problem of cracking the right material, but there is something else.

"I have terrible hearing trouble. Hearing loss is a terrible thing because it can not be repaired

If one has a tinnitus, how do you minimise the ringing in your ears?

I've answered this like 5 times before but I'll answer it again.sleep. A bad sleep schedule and a lack of sleep will make tinnitus much more noticeable. Get 7–8 hours of sleep and try to wake up and fall asleep at the same time every day. This won't cure tinnitus but make it less noticeable.Stress. Worrying about tinnitus might make it appear louder. It's best to try to calm down and ignore it. If you're stressed out then take a break and do meditation or whatever it is that calms you down.White Noise machine. You can find these on YouTube and they basically just make sounds. They're like waterfalls or birds chirping or strange wistles. It's weird to listen to but makes the tinnitus less noticeable if it's not too bad.Meditation. Sounds weird to think about but your brain can do amazing things. This isn't the case with everyone. But if your tinnitus is caused by something other than hearing loss then you might be able to fix it. I've heard some weird stories but personally I've never been able to do it myself. I've just learned to ignore the sounds and they don't bother me. But apparently you can make your tinnitus sound quieter. And it also lessens stress.Next is simple. A good diet. These all sound like simple stupid things but if your healthy than you're going to have a lot less tinnitus problems. You're body gets stressed out if you're living on Cheese and chocolate so try to get some decent meals with greens.Apparentlyhearing aids also help if it's bad enough. If you want to cure your tinnitus then go to your ear doctor and find out what's causing the problem. Apparently a lot of people have tinnitus their entire lives and they could've fixed it. Don't get your hopes up too much if you know it was from hearing loss. (loud music, shooting guns). But it's possible it's caused by something else. Personally I've never gone to the doctor because it's expensive and I ignore the sound most of the time. It's also extremely important to not make your tinnitus worse. Don't go to concerts and if you do wear earplugs. Don't listen to loud music through your headphones. (General rule, pull your headphones a foots length away from you and if you still hear the music it's too loud and long term exposure will lead to hearing loss.)

How long will I have a ringing in my ears after shooting guns?

Yesterday, Me and my buddy shot 3 different guns each 10 rounds a piece. I shot 10 .357 magnum rounds, 10 game load rounds from a 12 gauge, and 10 7.62 rounds out of an AK-47.
I was stupid and my excitement got ahead of me and I shot without hearing protection.
Spare me the lecture, I know it was stupid.
I have seen all these people post the same question about tittanus, and I am somewhat shaken up about it. I hope I have not exposed myself enough to cause this.
Everything I hear is muffled, and I have a constant ringing in my ear. I thought after a nights sleep it would go away but it didnt, now I am concerned. Please give me some guidance on this and if it sounds like it is permenant

30 rounds per person, 60 total w/o hearing protection :(

How can I stop my ears from ringing?

I've noticed for the past few days that my ears have been ringing. Anytime it gets quiet, I notice it. I have a headache right now, but I think that might be from sitting in front of the t.v. for too long. Why do people's ears ring, and is there anyway to stop it? It's starting to really get on my nerves.

Does tinnitus make you deaf in the long run?

I can mainly answer this question by the experience that I have lived with. People give scientific answers, but don’t actually understand how it feels to actually live with it for most of your life. It’s not something that you can slap a definition on and expect it to be correct. Tinnitus is VERY unknown. And in my opinion, I disagree with many of these comments because in the perception of a tinnitus sufferer, it does feel like you are going to deaf, not because its complete silence, but mainly because you can’t hear the things around you as well. Think about it. The definition of being deaf means the “lacking the power or having impaired hearing”. Tinnitus definitely impaired your hearing for sure. So my understanding is that the worse you have tinnitus, and the worse the ringing in the ears gets, therefore you ARE technically deaf. Yes, its not pure silence, but in a way, its much worse. Anything that prevent you from concentrating about the sounds around you is technically making you deaf. What I do know, is that there are alternative to help your level of deafness. There are many solutions that people recommend, like what the nice people that are suggesting on this thread. Everyone has a solution that works for them, so its nice to check the different routes you can go. Some people say that natural solutions are the best route. I go with a vitamin solution because I was “technically deaf” due to how loud my tinnitus was. Lipo Flavonoid reduced my deafness nearly 50% after a very hard initial process. They also have a Sonorest Sleeptone white noise generator for noise cancellation that worked wonders. I believe the hardest time for a tinnitus sufferer is during bedtime. Don’t sit around and have to deal with insomnia and tinnitus at the same time. Thanks for listening everyone. Good luck and I hope your hearing gets better.

Ringing in ears - suggestions for relief?

You may have a condition called tinnitus, which doctors theorize exists when regular blood flow from your ear's intricate vein network becomes irregular. The ringing sensation is akin to putting a seashell over your ear and sometimes can briefly affect hearing, speech and balance.

Sinus congestive problems don't help the condition much, either.

And like sinus problems, tinnitus can be inherited; fortunately, both are treatable by your doctor.

Can an inner ear infection cause tinnitus?

Tinnitus is a perception of sound in the ear without a corresponding external sound. It is often a ringing or swishing noise. Tinnitus can arise in the outer, middle, or inner ear and therefore an ear infection can cause tinnitus.  Fluid, infection, or disease of the ear bones or ear drum can cause tinnitus.  Other causes of tinnitus include noise-induced hearing loss, medications, age-related hearing loss, brain aneurysms, brain tumors, and inner ear disease such as Meniere's disease.
