Do I Have To Get Good Grades If I

Why can't I get good grades?

Why can't I get good grades?Ever since I graduated 3rd grade, my grades have been going on a downward spiral. My family and friends say I'm smart, and that I can go places, but no matter how hard I try my grades are mediocre at best. But they also say I'm unfocused, lazy and easily distracted. How can I turn things around?Frankly, this is a quick recap of my numerous responses to earlier but similar questions on Quora:In the first place:What you should have done when the first exam you had failed, you should have deconstructed what had happened, probably with the help of your lecturer or professor, and then make remedial actions:1) what didn't work?2) what had worked?3) what could work better the next time around, with a little bit of tweaking or acquisition of additional strategies and tactics; In this case of yours, you now have an apparent string of exam failures to deconstruct. There are a few variables you should have sorted out in your first-time exam failure:your tackling or answering of the exam questions;the specificity of your errors;your exam prep, andeven your study habits;Only by getting the feedback and/or understanding of the root causes, then only you are able to take remedial actions.Oftentimes, students get over-confident, without realising the potential mismatch of perception and production, especially when it comes to exam performance.[2016_Exam Failure Deconstruction]

I would check at your high school counseling or career center office(s) for more information.

Do Nerds Always get Good Grades?

Not really, a nerd is somebody who's more interested in certain things that most people aren't. This kid I knew was the smartest person probably in my ENTIRE school and I was surprised to find out he got D's and C's. He was extremely smart but never did his homework or even tried, but he was so much more intelligent than everyone, he even outsmarted my teacher several times.

I would advise you to try harder, if you have all this knowledge you should use it to your advantage. Not just tell yourself that you're smart even if you get bad grades, do your work and study and people will see you as intelligent. Bill Gates is one in a billion, btw.

and trust me, people with high IQ's do not get lower grades, they're usually hardworking.

I can't get good grades no matter how hard I try?

Go to tutoring.

Why do my friends hate it when I get good grades?

Have you tried talking to them about this?
If they are doing something that is upsetting you, and they are supposed to be your friends, then I think it is time that you have a nice, mature chat with them about this.
Clearly they are jealous of you, but don't let them know that you know that.
Just start up a conversation with them about it and tell them that you have noticed that they appear to be upset if you tell them that you have received a decent grade, and that when you tell them that you received an average grade, that this seems to please them.
If I were you, I would say something like:
'Hey guys, I know that we are all working really hard to get decent grades here, and I think that we're all doing a really good job, and I am very happy that you are all doing so well. But something has been bothering me a bit, and it might just be me over thinking things, but it seems to me that you aren't happy for me when I seem to do well, and when I let you know that I got a lower grade than you, you seem to be more excited than if I were to do well. And this upsets me a little bit because I want all of you to do well in school, and I am so happy that you are doing as well as you are, and when you get an 'A', I am glad that all the hard work that you have done has payed off for you. And I just don't understand why it appears that you don't show me the same support and consideration. I am sorry if I am offending you here, but I just couldn't help but notice this, and it really has been bothering me because I want us to all support and care for each other and be good friends.'

Hopefully they realize that they are being selfish jerks and stop the behavior. I would bet that the problem here, for them, is that you get good grades all the time, and maybe, to them, it seems that it just comes naturally for you, whereas they have to struggle and spend all of their free time working on homework just to get an A. So maybe they are just jealous that you have such a natural affinity for learning and that they actually have to put quite a bit of effort into it.
That's just my guess...

Do I really have to get good grades to have a good future or at least a good job?

The general rule is YES. The exception is NO, and a big exception. Out of 1000 people that get good grades in school and college, you will find that maybe around 980 have a “good” life and satisfying jobs (nice own home, vacation home, world travel, recent model cars, cultural life, wine and dining, good insurance, college money for their kids, savings for a good retirement, etc), thus are in the middle to upper class. Out of 1000 people with bad grades and thus lower level college or no college at all, you will find that 980 do not have a “good” life. They have a decent life, they get by, but you can’t call it “good” and much less that they have satisfying jobs, thus they have a typical working-class life. Most work for the money and that’s it, and that’s not truly satisfying. So, can you make it in life with bad grades? Sure you can, but you have to be so good at whatever you do and have high-level soft skills that you make it to that elite group of 20 out of 1000.
