Do I Have Viruses On My Computer

Do I have a virus on my computer?

ok first step what your describeing is more a spyware issue not a virus though it's probably left one on the back burner. theres a simple 3- 4 step process to getting rid of any and all viruses on a windows based computer. oh yeah you will have to uninstall what ever antivirus you have temporarly though know that in reviews avast is right now (even the free version) running better anyone else for virsus and spyware
1. first you need to boot the computer in safe mode with networking, press f8 durring boot

2. Now access your control pannel (on windows xp) Start-settings-control pannel- then double click on internet options. click use blank apply then ok. make sure your in clasic view and weather you normally use fire fox or not your gonna need to use explorer to make sure the spyware cant be turned on by a browser hijack.

3. open internet explorer download and run these programs. (search the names on google all are free or have free versions and all work.) the reason i am haveing you uninstall after is because reviews are stateing compatability issues so pick the one you like best after running both install it and go from there as they are both good.
"AVAST!" install update the database run then uninstall
"MalwareBytes" install update run then uninstall
"smit fraud fix" AWSOME TOOL it is tailored to detect and eliminate only certain and few spyware but the ones it does noone else can get rid of and make things work twice as well it has saved my bacon MANY TIMES!!!!!. dont have to delete after use as it doesnt scan or turn on unless clicked

4. after done click start-run(or press the window key and r) then in the run box type " msconfig " with out any spaces or quotations
click services in the window that pops up then click the box that says hide all microsoft services nothing else should be checked if it is click to uncheck all of it apply then close restart into normal mode congrats your computer is HEALED (ps. this step was just makeing sure there wasn't any start up programs that it intalled that could re download and reinfect the computer after all your hard work .

total process could take a while as your running some scans

How do i get rid of viruses on my computer?

How do i get rid of viruses on my computer?
I have had fake Trojans before, and the person i took it to said they weren't the real thing just a company's way to get you to buy their software. My guest account works this is why i think they are fake. I have a spy ware CD but i can only use it on an administration account, but the virus wont allow it.

I asked in another question, and someone said erase the hard drive.
How do i do this? I can get around on a computer basically, but their instructions were too difficult. Can anyone break it down REALLY simple.

Do I Have a virus on my computer?

Ok... Im not sure if i have a virus on my computer or not... I have scanned with Norton 360, MalwareBytes' Anti Malware, and SUPERAnti-Spyware, but none of them have found anything. Everytime I run anything, my computer goes berzerk and slows down quite a bit, then the computer usage goes up to like 70-80%. Even when i use the internet, like right now, its at 60% using 1.20 gigs of the memory. So im thinking theyre some type of keylogger, or other backdoor virus using up all this usage on my computer... What are your thoughts on this? And if u could tell me a good virus scanner to scan it real quick, that would be helpful.

How do I get rid of my computer viruses?

Good security can be had for free, its just not in a neat all-in-one "security suite"

For good computer security you need to do 4 things.

1. Run a firewall.

2. Use a good anti-virus with real-time protection.

3. Do a regular scan with a dedicated anti-spyware,

4. Keep Windows and all your other installed software, 100% updated and patched with all important and security updates.

My recommendations:

1. For the home user of XP or Vista, Windows Firewall is adequate, even more so if one is using a router, which is a very good firewall in itself. Make sure your Windows Firewall is turned "on".

2. For your Anti-Virus......(Always use only 1 A-V...You must NEVER use more than one anti-virus, Even your expired anti-virus can cause a major conflict...did I mention that you MUST uninstall any and all, old anti-virus products?)

I would suggest Avast, the newest version 4.8. Avast now includes anti-virus, some anti-spyware capability and anti-rootkit components. And all for the low low price of free. You can get it here:
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

3. For your Anti-Adware and Anti-Spyware needs...
SUPERAntiSpyware:
http://www.superantispyware.com/

They have a free version.

4. Use Secunia PSI to insure that all your software is kept always updated and patched against vulnerabilities that are often exploited to compromise computers. Very important.

Its free as is everything else here. Saving cash these days is important!

I have a virus on my computer, what do I do?

You can run antivirus and antispyware programs, but the sad fact is if you have found one virus on your computer, you probably have several. Cleaning the computer now requires you to follow these steps, because modern viruses and spyware entrench themselves in files that your computer needs in order to run:

1. Virus-check your data files (not application files-- you have installer CDs for those).
2. Back up the data files, getting them off your hard drive.
3. Get your original operating system CDs that came with your computer.
4. Boot your computer from the operating system CD.
5. Select the option that erases your hard drive and then reinstall your system software.
6. Turn on your software firewall that came with your operating system.
7. Reconnect to the internet, and download *all* Windows updates, no matter how long it takes.
8. Reinstall your application software, and update the applications as much as you can.
9. Reinstall your data files.
10. Create a limited user account on your system that does *not* have administrator access, and web surf only from this account.

Yes, this is a pain in the butt. No, there is no other way. No, antivirus and antispyware programs cannot fix this problem on its own.

So, what do you do in the future?

1. Never click on links you find in an e-mail.
2. Never open an e-mail attachment, ever.
3. Only download files from a reputable website that you know is on the up-and-up.
4. Never use bit-torrent and other file-sharing programs.
5. Never use an unsolicited drive-checking site.
6. Turn off all java and java scripting by default, and only enable java and java scripting for sites that you know you can trust.
7. Never read an unsolicited e-mail, and delete spam immediately. It is possible to be hacked by reading an e-mail alone.

Please adhere to the 'dont's' I provided above, because you will have to repeat the cleaning steps that I listed first *every time you get infected.* Anti-spyware and anti-virus programs are good to have, but they are a second line of defense. The best way to protect your system is you, and changing your behavior.

Good luck!

There’s no such thing as being completely safe from viruses and malware. As far as your system is concerned, you seem to have not invested any thought in the safety of your web browser - arguably one of the more common vectors of infection these days. Ideally, you should use three types of plugins of this: an ad blocker, a cross-site request whitelist, and an active content whitelist. If you use sites that rely on Java (note: not the same thing as JavaScript, that’s a common mistake) and/or Flash, make sure your installations of these are up to date. If you do not need them and they are installed, uninstall them ASAP.You say SUPERAntiSpyware reports adware on your machine… check if MBAM’s scan results agree with that. Adware isn’t usually dangerous, but that doesn’t make it desirable on your system either.Ultimately, the first step of defense against viruses and other forms of malware is yourself and your common sense - so keep your eyes peeled, don’t take things on face value and always think twice before opening/installing something on your system.

I have a virus on my computer and how do i get rid of it?

How to stop pop-ups and remove fake software, spyware, trojans and viruses:

You need to download and scan your system with Malwarebytes and SuperantiSpyware (links below)

If you are unable to download or use the software below then its likely you are being redirected or blocked from downloading and running security software by a trojan hidden in your device manager follow the instructions below and you should be able to download Malwarebytes and SuperantiSpyware.

start > run > type: devmgmt.msc > enter > view > show hidden devices > non-plug and play drivers > in the list of drivers look for the following, right click and disable any that appear in your list:

ATi1jaxx
TDSSserv.sys
TDSSxyz.sys where xyz are random characters
Clbdriver.sys,
Gaopdxserv.sys,
Seneka or Seneka.sys

Restart computer.

Once downloaded you need to install, update and scan your computer with both Malwarebytes and SuperantiSpyware, delete everything they find, if this fails to completely remove the malware you need to download then update Avast and run a boot scan (click schedule boot-time scan and restart your PC), all the software below is free and safe to use.

Malwarebytes: http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

SuperantiSpyware: http://www.superantispyware.com/download...

Avast Anti-Virus: http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.ht...

To protect your PC in the future you'll need to install anti-virus software and a firewall, id recommend using Avast anti-virus and Comodo firewall both are very effective and completely free, you should also switch to Firefox 3 if you are browsing with Internet Explorer as its much safer and a lot easier to use. (links on my profile)

Remember never download anything thats recommend by a pop-up.

Most of the time when I get slightest doubt about my system slowness and virus activity, I type command in run window: MSCONFIG to start the below window. It has “StartUp” tab, check the all the application .exe and its location. When you system is infected with virus, most likely there is an .exe that gets loaded when system starts. When you identify it, you can get the location. Uncheck it so that it won’t get started in next restart. When you get the file path, delete the file, most likely the virus will get deleted. Also search for the same .exe in system directory. Hope it helps.
