Do I I Have Tonsillitis

White Spot On Tonsil for months?

I've it for about 6 months or more. It does not hurt, but it itches bad and feels really dry.I'm constently drinking. I've read it could be a number of thing. I just want to know, what is it? How to get rid of it? PLEASE HELP ME!!

Can I get tonsil stones if I don't have tonsils?

Yep, not tonsil stones but in case your oropharynx ( throat) is imflammed, you can get stones in that portion too. In certain cases, the pharynx may develop some pockets(due to infection etc), and stones develop in that space.Am attaching a representative picture of pharynx:Thats why, sometimes getting tonsils removed is not a permanent cure.Just take care of your oral hygiene.Good Luck.RegardsKriti Sharma

What are tonsils stones and what happens if you swallow them?

Tonsil stones are particles of rotting/rotted food trapped in the folds of the tonsil and acted on by the bacteria that live in your mouth and throat. You swallowed the food to begin with, and if you collect stones and debris yes you are swallowing that all the time. Some individuals carry them chronically without problems while others develop pain and infections. They can be cleaned out occasionally or a tonsillectomy is curative.

What the heck just fell down the back of my throat? I have these little compressed pus (or more likely snot, but it is hard like a cheese, and it smells bad) clusters that get caught in my throat.

Yep, I've had them for a long time. In my 30's they were quite the annoyance and I had to search out and remove them daily! If they continue, you'll soon learn the tonsil pockets they favor and you often can sense them forming by the slight off flavor/smell in your mouth before they actually physically stick out much. Get them early, because they sure do stink. Fortunately for me, they have become rarer and rarer for me as I've gone into middle age.To effect removal I used a wire loop tool for a long time (I just found some super thin, malleable wire that I bent into a tiny loop probe on the end to dig out the stones), but an 'oral irrigation syringe' works really well to flush material out, too. Here's what I use now: http://www.amazon.com/Watts-Syri...Wow, sure is great to have the net. When I first started having this problem 30 years ago, there was no internet to turn to and my dentist was ignorant about this so I just had to figure it out on my own.

If I have my tonsils removed what effect would this cause on my health?

It’s still controversial. I’m gonna gave 2 points of view & my personal opinion.Tonsil is actually part of our lymphatic system which have roles on our immune system. Tonsil doing it’s best to protect us from harmful substances and microorganisms, however, if the attackers are too strong or our immune system becoming weak(unhealthy eating, extreme pollution, contact with contagious person, genetic disorder) the tonsil will get infected. Usually, it didn’t need any medicine to cure tonsilitis as long as you drink a lot of water and rest properly. Our body has good immunity so it could heal itself.Due to some conditions, there are some people that repeatedly got tonsilitis and unable to heal it completely. Imagine someone got tonsilitis once a month, it would definitely disturb his/her life, not to mention that tonsilitis could induce sleep apnea. For these people, tonsil removal is definitely sounds like a good option, since it definitely helps their day to day life.Only several studies had conducted the long term effect of tonsillectomy, i read 2 that have a different opinion. The first one is conducted on children (Tonsillectomy and the immune system: a long-term follow up comparison between tonsillectomized and non-tonsillectomized children.) It stated that the changes happen on children after tonsillectomy is not clinically significant. Therefore, the benefits outweight the risk on this studies.Another one is conducted on adults (Tonsillectomy--clinical consequences twenty years after surgery?). It conclude that several tonsillectomy patients experienced more chronic disease on the last 20 years compared to their non-tonsillectomy group. Keep in mind that the sample of this studies are small, only 18 patients, so it needs further research. Conclusion, i agree to do tonsillectomy if the infection occured frequently and disturbed the patients pyschologically.Hope it helps! I open to discussion folks!

Ice cream is a soft, non-irritating food that you can eat while your throat is hurting. ice cream is often a comfort food, it might make you feel a little better to have a tasty treat at this low time.

I feel sick, but I have a midterm today?

I am extremely sick with either tonsillitis or strep throat. I can hardly breath, my nose is extremely stuffy, my head hurts as well as my throat, I feel very weak, it hurts to swallow, sometimes even to talk, and I couldn't sleep at all yesterday because of this. But, today I have a midterm. I've already been to the infirmary and have prescribed antibiotics, but I feel worse than before. What should I do?

I know it's weird not to know my exact diagnosis, but when I went to the doctor they told me it was just a throat infection. It has escalated a lot since then, I probably have to go back.

When naming diseases in a sentence, do you capitalize them?

Leave them as lower unless they have someone's name in them.

e.g Crohn's disease, swine flu, the common cold

" Do not capitalize the names of diseases, syndromes, tests, and other medical terms except for proper nouns that are part of the names."

influenza
Down’s syndrome
