Do I Look Alike Canadian

What do Canadian houses look like?

Canadian houses look different from each other depending on what part of Canada you are from. On the east cost, places like Newfoundland and parts of Nova Scotia many of the homes there are two story wooden framed homes and they are painted in bright colours. In Newfoundland they go a step further and paint each side of their houses a different colour. This is mainly true is smaller older towns. In the larger cities there are still some of the 2 story wooden framed homes but there are also moderen one and two story homes with brick or siding as well as modern apartment buildings and townhomes. As you move across Canada the homes do change a bit but it will also depend on the age of the neighbourhood. In Ontario many of the homes are constructed using brick and vinyl siding. This is due to tougher building and fire codes.Again as you move towards the West Coast the homes do change back to the wood frame construction. In BC many of the older homes have been replaced with new homes that are multi-resident buildings. Land prices in the BC have skyrocketed in the last few years making single family homes out of reach for many home owners. You would be best to google different home styles across Canada so you could actually see the difference.

Do some Canadians look Asian?

The asian ones do.
But you're talking about the Inuits (eskimos). Native Americans are part of the Mongoloid race which also includes Chinese, Japanese etc. That's why there are some similarities in their appearance.

Do canadians look different then americans!?

Much to their dismay, our wonderful neighbors to the (great white) north look and, in some instances, sound exactly like the majority of us imperialists... eh?

Do French Canadians physically look different than English Canadians?

First of all, there is no typical ‘English-Canadian’ look, because a majority of us are not of English descent. English speakers in the prairies are more likely to look Germanic/Slavic while those in the maritimes are more likely to look Celtic, and Ontario/BC English speakers are more likely to have Anglo-Saxon features. However, white French-Canadians do have common features. There is a distinct French-Canadian look, different from French European. This may be down to mixing with the natives (Métis), or from the fact that a large number of French Canadians descend from around 800 women (filles du roi). A noticeable feature of French-Canadians is their eyes, which tend to be droopy and almost cave into their faces. While wide, almond-shaped eyes are pretty common among French Canadians (as with French Europeans), I’ve noticed they have a higher tendency to have folded eyelids than the average white ethnicity. Their jaws are usually narrower than other White Canadians. Their cheekbones are usually large and high, but not as much as aboriginal Canadians. French-Canadian noses tend to be pointier and longer, but not necessarily wide. Finally, red hair is a lot rarer among French-Canadians. Former Liberal leader Stéphane Dion has a very typical French-Canadian face:Of course, all these are generalizations. There are French-Canadians with broad jaws, snub noses, and tiny noses. I’m just giving a broad generalization.

Why do many Canadians look down their noses at Americans when we like them so much?

For Canadians (And commonwealth nations in general), there is a social custom of mocking your friends, with the understanding that they are secure enough to take it. The proper response is to do it back, and it is all in good fun, though it is related to enforcing social modesty. I think the misunderstanding is driven by the American idea of personal worth. As John Steinbeck said, "Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires."American society seems to enforce a self esteem problem among its citizens. You tell yourself you are great, then you work to achieve it, and you maybe don't like to be reminded that you're not. Yet?New Zealand, Australia, South Africa, and the UK call this banter/mockery "taking the piss out of you". Though we don't use that term in Canada, we practice the idea. I had an American friend who lived in Australia for 10+ years. She picked up their sense of humour, and gave back as good as she got. It was great fun. Within a few years of moving back to the states, she reverted to American social norms, and started taking her self way too seriously, and worse, me. Imagine if you really admired someone, and they suddenly couldn't bear the kind words that used to make them reciprocate? You'd want to put them in a home, right? In Australia, you might call your close friends "cunts". In America that would be hugely offensive. "Mates" is a safer if gentler term of course, or used in the plural. "My mates are right cunts" means you really appreciate your circle of friends. We don't use "cunt" like that in Canada -especially to Americans- but again, we get the notion. The more you love your friends, the more you mock them.We are also likely to understate things. "This pizza is decent", means a Canadian thinks it is pretty good. New Zealanders say "That is a bit of all right", when when they really like something. And they'll say it quietly.Chúk Odenigbo's answer covers another aspect: Canadians like Americans quite a lot, but don't much like American political policy. But who does?

Why do all the buildings (skyline) in Vancouver, Canada look the same?

Vancouver is a beautiful city, but I tell you most Canadian cities look futuristic. Toronto is like that too. Most of the skyscrappers are made of glass or marble. But unlike Vancouver, all the towers are very different in style and offers a variety in sleak and modern architecture. The beauty of Canadian cities is one reason why Canada ia one of the best countries to live. Go to Wikipedia and enter Vancouver. You will see a more beautiful picture.

I love Canada

Why do the Peruvian and the Canadian flag look similar?

Coincidence you said? The Canadian Flag was established in 1965. Did Canada ignored the existence of the third largest country in South America at that time? Don't think so. According to the Canadian government, both countries established formal diplomatic relations since October 21st 1940, with the Red Ensign waving on the Canadian embassy in Lima, and the Bicolor (Red White Red) waving on the top of the Peruvian embassy in Ottawa. Moreover, Stanley and Matheson are though to be inspired by the flag of the Military College of Canada (see below), but this last one is in fact a perfect copy of the Peruvian Flag (Ration 2:3, strips equivalent to 1/3 of the width) and was created only in 1920. I have to say that the only authentic feature was the Maple Leaf, but the rest is 100% Peruvian.

Why do so many "French Canadians" in Western Canada not look "French" at all?

Allow me to suggest the following: Those of us who descended from either a ‘filles- à -marrier’ or a ‘filles- du- roi’ may indeed look similar. Many of those girls came from specific areas of France (Poitu, Normandy, Charente-Maritimes, Loire-Atlantique) could stand to reason that the gene pool would not be that varied. Then if you happen to descend from a ‘pure laine’ line (I don’t, as my ancestors married Austrian, Belgian and German wives) again the genetics would not vary that much.I can see the variance in my own family as my mother looks French but her brother takes after the German side of the family and is very fair and his features are very different. You would not know they were siblings! If there had been another sister she could also have the German features thus not look typically French either! So the look I refer to as French-Canadian is this:La Bolduc (Mary Travers)Arianne MoffattThey are generations apart but the look remains consistent.Dark hair, long oval face, deep set dark eyes . Most records indicate my male ancestors were well-built and ‘un-tall’ ;)If Céline Dion gained weight she would fit the profile as well. ;) Ditto Angelina Jolie. Now if memory serves me correct, the French that migrated out west were mostly ‘Metis’ (a derivation of the french expression ‘motié-motié’ or half and half in english. It was not a pejorative term!) those French men who married the Native girls. Which they were smart to do because they made better wives as they were better suited to the harsh life of the colony compared to the young delicate girls of France! So that explains why the mix of French and Native would create a new physical profile out west.Any thoughts?
