Do I Need A Telephoto Lens During Travel

Which lens should I choose for a Nikon D3300, for travelling?

Also depends on whether telephoto is needed.  If you travel to Alaska, telephoto is about all you use.  If you travel Europe, almost everything is done in wide angle.  So, if you need telephoto the 55-200mm DX lens for Nikon is the most bang for the buck you can get.  Great resolution at all focal lengths.  If you are going to walk around day and night taking photos of people, then the 35mm 1.8 or the 24mm f2 are good choices for low light.I have traveled everywhere with just the 18-55 and 55-200 lens, except for Alaska where I used a 300mm for whales, birds, far away mountains, closeup of glaciers, etc.I hate to say this but the next trip is to Nassau and I am leaving the camera behind to try using just the iPhone with a waterproof case for underwater photography.  I plan to shoot video and stills.  My wife and daughter will have their Canons blazing away.  When done we will compare quality of shot versus lightness of travel.  I have this bad feeling that for casual travel photography, the iPhone offers too many advantages.  Details to follow....

Is 50mm prime lens good for travelling photography?

55mm prime lens is not good for travel photography. This lens is good when it comes to street and potrait photography at short distances. 50mm prime lens will be of your use at short distances but when it comes to long distance photography like that of mountains and scenery it wont prove that good. At the same time, 50mm clicks some amazing sunset and night sky photos and you get an amazing depth of field during portrait photography.Follow my travel blog for my solo travel adventures Unorganised ChaosI have clicked this pic with a 50mm lens - My friends refused to believe that I have clicked it calling it a picture clicked with a professional camera :P . For travel photography, which lens is better : a 55-200 mm zoom lens or nikon's 35mm f/1.8 DX?

I'll be traveling for six weeks , a lot in Central Asia (Baku, Tbilisi, Tashkent ) with my Nikon 40dx. Originally, I was going to purchase a zoom lens 55-200 mm to help capture those great scenes. But then ,I read an article that said for a second lens the new Nikon 35 mm f/1.8 is best for low light conditions and portraits. The article said the standard lens for the 40 DX gives adequate wide and zoom capability. I realized I wanted to be able to take photos in cafes and markets and capture everyday people and not call attention to myself. Since I don't want to carry around three lenses I think I will opt for the 35mm 1.8. Am I missing anything ?

How good would a 55mm 1.8 lens be for travel?

Most people when traveling want to take pictures of many different things, landscapes, buildings, people, portraits, groups, animals., interiors of restaurants etc. This means you want a versatile lens. A prime lens, such as a 55mm one is not particularly versatile. Unless you have decided that the only photos you are going to take are portraits in low light( just an example ) then you are going to need something more versatile- like a zoom, 18 -200mm. Then you will be ready for anything! If I am on a non working holiday , I take one camera, a DX Nikon ( my spare backup camera) and a 24–70mm f/2.8 Nikon lens, although I , as a pro, own FX cameras and a number of other FX lenses this is the lightest most versatile combination I own and I have a policy of I not buying any gear unless I have jobs to pay for it!

Which is the best Canon APS-C lenses for travel photography?

Thanks for asking. For travel photography I would suggest you the Canon 18–135 mm USM. This lens is a compact mixture of wide angle and zoom lens. This ensures you do not mess by having 2–3 lenses in your kit. Travelling would be easy in harsh places even while you are carrying this lens. You can also go for Canon 15–85 mm IS USM which is the best to me when you are going for travelling. It will easily handle the landscapes, portraits and some out of the box shots by having this lens ON.I hope this helps. You can check their reviews here:Canon 18–135 mmCanon 15–85 mmThanks and good luck!!

Which lenses should I use for landscapes and travel photography in Leh and Ladakh?

Thanks for A2A Yaman SahuMost of times, people assume they’ll just need wide angle lens to capture landscapes. Though wide angle lens certainly helps in landscape photography, having few different lenses make it more perfect & helpful to capture the beautiful shots specially when you are travelling to Ladakh. We just return from our Ladakh Adventures and we captured some of the best & beautiful shots from Canon & Nikon cameras.Let’s start with Wide Angle Lens:Source: WikimediaWide angle lenses helps to capture the entire scene, including more of the view in the shot. But you need to be careful as if you get too wide you’ll get a fisheye effect, where the image distorts at the edges. If you can only afford one lens for landscape photography, make it a good wide angle lens. Other lenses certainly have their place in landscape photography, but if you are limited to one, make it a wide angle.Best wide angle lenses for landscapes:Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6Source: the-digital-pictureThe Canon EF-S 15-85 USM is Canon's latest "do it all" lens for crop sensor DSLRs. It ranges from a true wideangle, suitable for interiors and landscapes, to a short telephoto suitable for portraits.2. Nikon AF-S FX Nikkor 14-24mmSource: NikonThe Nikon AF-S Nikkor 14-24mm is a fast, high-performance, ultra-wideangle zoom for Nikon's FX (full-frame) and DX (APS-C) format DSLRs. It gives sharp results throughout its aperture range, making it very useful for available-light photography in tight spaces, as well as more conventional applications like landscapes and large events.Below are the just few shots that i captured during my visit with above cameras and lenses.:Along with this lenses you can carry Telephoto above 50mm, Zoom Lense to both zoom out to wide angles and in close to objects, 135mm (or similar telephoto).#LiveAdventurously

What is the best Canon lens for street photography?

I have a Canon T3i and will be traveling to Africa in August. The only lens I own is the Canon 18-135mm IS kit lens. I'm not ready to fully commit to purchasing some expensive glass, and therefore going to rent a lens to test it out. I still want to take great pics, so which lens should I rent? The pictures I'm interested in taking are street scenes (markets, people, colors, children)...so street photography and candid portraits as I walk and explore the streets. Since i'm renting, I would like to try out some of the more expensive glass. Or is there a lens that will take care of all my travel scenery needs (i'm guessing my 18-135mm will be adequate for wide angle landscape scenes).
