Do I Need To Re Bleach My Hair

Can you bleach dyed hair? If so, how?

Absolutely you can! It just takes a little more caution than bleaching virgin hair.I recently bleached my hair from bright red to very light blonde, and it turned out just fine. It kinda depends on what colour your hair was dyed (for example black and dark browns are harder to get out,) but here’s a general overview:I went to Sally Beauty Supply and purchased Prismlites Blue toned Bleach, 30 volume developer (creme, not liquid [personal preference]) and a shiny new tint brush. (But I’m no professional. Use caution and commonsense…I ain’t liable for your hair.)Since I was doing more of a balayage-highlighting technique, I didn’t get within a couple inches of my roots, so that was one less thing to worry about.I sectioned my hair carefully, and as soon as I began applying the bleach I worked quickly to pull it through evenly (in the places i wanted). I started timing immediately and actually stopped halfway through bleaching to rinse the bottom section, so it wouldn’t overprocess.Once your hair is a pale yellow at the lightest, (mine had a teeny bit of orange in places,) you MUST wash the bleach out or face all the hair catastrophes I’m sure you’ve heard about. If your hair was really dark, you might want to stop while still orange (or once the time suggestion on the bleach is up,) because it’s better to go back later and re-bleach then to fry it trying to go super light in one day. After that, shampoo, tone if you want, or wait and dye it. Good luck!Oh, and don’t freak out when it’s still wet. My hair looked bright yellow-orange when I was fresh out of the shower, but once it dried it looked much blonder and better. First appearances can be deceiving!

How long should I wait to re bleach my hair?

About 4 days ago, I bleached a part of my hair, but didn't leave it long enough (about 10 minutes when it was supposed to be 30 lol) and I bought the same bleach packet today (l'oreal super oreal blanc, it lifts it 7 levels). About 2 days ago I deep conditioned my hair for 30 minutes, and the lady at Sally's said I don't need toner. Would it be bad if I re bleached it tonight? How long should I wait?
Thank you!!

Splat Hair Dye , Re-Bleach It?

Well, never do two bleachings in a day- it'll really hurt your hair.

Is your hair frizzy, cotton candy like? If so, wait at least a month before rebleaching.
If your hair is shiny and healthy, you can consider a second bleaching. However, it will put your hair in a worse condition- it's a trade off.

One thing you should definitely NOT do is bleach both the dark and and already red parts together. When you redye the red, the darker parts will be a darker red than the lighter, which could look weird. Try to only bleach the darkened parts, to the same level of lightness as your current red.

As a side note, I would not recommend using splats. They are fairly damaging to your hair, and do not last as long as some other brands, plus they have a very limited selection of shades.
Some other brands I'd look into-
-Manic Panic, these are made from vegetables and are actually good for your hair. There's a large selection of colors as well. The main downside is that they do not last long, only a few weeks. There is an amplified formula that lasts longer however. You can find them at a Sally's Beauty or Hot Topic store, or if you want order the online from sallybeauty.com. Their full selection is here: http://www.manicpanic.com/classiccreamformula.html
-Directions, again, they do not hurt your hair. These are the BEST dyes, they are very vibrant and last for almost 2 months. The main issue is that they are from the UK, so you'd have to order online and import from there. amazon.co.uk is a good place to look. http://www.lariche.co.uk/directions-hair-colour/
-Special Effects- once again, great for your hair. These are sold in the US, but I don't know of any stores that sell them- it's best to order from a place like amazon. http://www.specialeffectsusa.com/hair_dye.html

All 3 of those sell bleach kits, I find it convenient to pick up manic panics from hot topic, all bleach is pretty much the same. You could alternatively buy packets of Ion bleach and 40 vol Ion Developer at sally beauty.

Message me if you need anymore help, I love helping people dye their hair :-)

Can I bleach my hair over a blue dye?

You can, but some direct dyes have a tendency to become a sort of murky turquoise if you bleach them. Not to mention the damage to the hair if you are bleaching already damaged/bleached hair to get rid of the blue.If you have overall dark blue hair (black-blue) that is darker than your natural hair color, usually accomplished with a permanent hair color, using a hair color remover should remove most of the blue. You’re likely to need to color correct and tone and then dye over it to get some sort of natural color. If you have bleached blonde hair, and you dyed it blue and hate it (it happens) or got bored of it, the best option is to help it fade. Wash your hair with a cleansing shampoo several times, and don’t forget to deep condition as alongside the dye your hair natural oils will be stripped. This should get it to a level where you can dye on top of it with another color. If the blue still doesn’t bulge, a bleach bath is easy and can be done at home and generally is less rough on the hair than a full on bleach job.Do not try to color correct your own hair unless you know what you are doing and are happy to run strand tests. Applying an orange dye to cancel the blue can turn out terrible. But you may be able to dye with a warm toned brunette on top of the blue to achieve a decent natural looking brunette color. That said, this is difficult to get it right if you have never done it before. If your hair is very weak or damaged a visit to the hairdresser (who will have expertise and the right products to color correct hair) should be in order. You really don’t want to give yourself a chemical haircut.

Would I need to bleach my black hair before putting navy blue in it?

If you try to bleach your hair and then dye it blue, it makes the blue turn dark almost to black because of a reaction. If you're trying to dye your hair navy, navy's pretty dark anyway so you might be okay without bleaching.

Is it safe to re-bleach my hair after 3 months?

omg! This is exactly what I tried to do a month ago! lol My advice: YES! I bleached it the first time and it turned this yellow gold sort of color and then I had to bleach it again after 2 weeks (it was an emergency and I know that it was bad) but my hair didn't go THAT bad. Altho I will admit it is a bit frizzier than before. In your case, you have waited 3 months right? so its pretty safe! Usually it is advised to wait for a month before re-bleaching. You can go ahead without worries but not matter what, bleaching is not going to leave the texture as it was before. Just keep that In mind and remember to condition that part well! :D Good Luck!

How long to wait before re-bleaching hair?

It really depends on the strength of your hair! Do a stress test ...When it's wet can you pull on about 4 strands and it stretches? If it does then you still have elasticity in your hair...if it is gummy or breaks then DO NOT REBLEACH!! You can also do a test strand and cut a piece of the bleached hair (in an inconspicuous place) and bleach it for no longer than 15 min with 20 vol and see how the hair reacts. If the above stress test turns out well then you might be fine. Otherwise you need to deep condition the hair for a week before attempting to rebleach. Also you would need to be sure someone is helping you put the bleach on the same strands otherwise you will get ORANGE streaks mixed in because the 20 vol won't lift the dark hair to even a yellow tone. Use caution! Good luck!!

How long do I wait to re-bleach my natural hair?

If that was your first bleaching on virgin hair & the hair is in good health, you can bleach it same day. Your scalp may be more sensitive to the bleach as all oils have been stripped from the scalp from the bleaching. You can wait a couple of days to build up oils if you like. It is advisable to use no more than 25vol on scalp(the hot zone=faster processing power) & up to 35vol on lengths or on old color to be removed

Do I have to re-bleach my hair if I want another color?

I'm about to dye my hair dark teal.. and.. honestly, i've heard so many bad thinngs about manic panic that I wouldn't even use it again. The color never holds, and it always fades to some really ugly color. Since manic panic has a metallic base, you probably will have to bleach it. But you should test a strip of your hair with the dye first to see if you like the result. :)
