Do I Not Have To Go To Court

Do i have to go to court for a ticket?

If there is a fine printed on the citation then you can pay for it. If there is then there should be payment options on the back on how to pay for it.

The other option is to go to court, where it could be retired or dismissed.

Do I have to go to court for a citation?

Since laws vary by state you should call the Clerk of the Court and ask. If it was written by a cop you could call the police department and ask. Ditto the Highway Patrol.

In many states you still have to pay the fine, but if you go to traffic school you don't get any points on your record.

If i paid my rent do i still have to go to court?

I was a few days past due, i paid my rent with the late fee. The next day i got a letter from the court to appear for the eviction hearing. Since i already paid do i still have to go? My apartment office is closed or i would call and ask them, right now and i just want to know for piece of mind cause im kind of stressed about this.

I've never had late payments before this was my first, and it was only 5 days late.
I live in MD.

what can they do to me?

Should I go to court for a noise violation?

You had people in the apartment that were not residents of the apartment ... kind of a strict interpretation of a party, but if someone wanted to complain ... there you go!

The noise violation is a bit more cut and dried. None of your neighbors would tell YOU that the noise from your place was too loud ... but let me guess, you and you apartment mates are young, muscular, athletic college students, and your friends are probably the same. Some people will not confront a person they see as physically superior to themselves about a problem.

Some one called in a noise complaint, when the police arrived there was enough noise coming from your apartment to qualify as a violation of the noise ordinance in your town.

The police have a complainant and a report of the incident that they filed. Bring your neighbors to court to help you ... but do not be surprised if one (or more) of them is a witness against you.

What kinds of lawyers don't go to court?

I'm thinking about going to law school, but I am a bad public speaker and get really nervous in front of people. I am sure that this problem will lessen as I continue to experience new things, but I will probably never be naturally comfortable in front of a courtroom. What kinds of lawyers do office type jobs that do not require appearing in court? Thanks

If a person is sick and can't go to court what should they do so they don't get warrant for their arrest

let's say a person has to go to court and they get really sick the night before and they have to spend the night in the hospital. What should they do? Can they call the court in the morning from the hospital? Would the judge believe it? Do they need some kind of letter from the doctor?

Can you be arrested for not showing up in court as a witness?

If you have received a summons to appear in court then you are required to go. They will likely stop the proceedings, send an officer to find you and bring you to court, then might even press charges against you (I don’t think that is likely but it could happen since you would have disregarded a court order), have you go before the court to testify, then put you in jail for contempt of court if you don’t move it and get it done, then you are free to go.And find your own way back where they picked you up from.A friend of mine had a court date she was supposed to go to and they moved away, half way across the continent. The police showed up to her house one day, arrested her for not appearing, She had to walk out, right then, to the police car and get in, then took her to that other state and dropped her off with the officers of that court/town/county…don’t know for sure. They had the court proceeding, she wasn’t put in jail once she explained that her husband got a transfer and she had to move, and then she could leave. She was about 1400 miles from her new home. Her husband had to get her a hotel room via using a credit card at a local hotel of the same kind to pay for her room. They wouldn’t let him use his card over the phone. So he had to go an actually have the front desk person swipe his card at the local Holiday Inn.Then he had to mail her wallet to her. Since the officers hadn’t let her take anything with her. She had some friends in the area they’d moved from that fed her and loaned her some clothes for those few days.So if you have a court appearance you have to go to, don’t think you can just not show up. They don’t like it when people don’t pay attention to the laws.

What should I do if I got a speeding ticket with no fine and a court date?

You should appear in court as the ticket ordered you to do so, and when in court, you should plead guilty and pay the fine.I got a ticket with a mandatory court appearance a few years back. I was driving over 100 miles on interstate 5 between San Francisco and Los Angeles. It's not just a speeding ticket, because I was driving at a speed that was way over the speed limit, it requires a judge to decide if this is a speed ticket or reckless driving, which is a misdemeanor. That's why you're asked to appear in court, so a judge can decide if this is a misdemeanor which will get on your record.Don't take this lightly. If you never had a criminal record, this means a lot. Having a misdemeanor on your record could impact a lot of things, your job (when your potential employer do background check), rent or buy a home, credit check… all that.My suggestion is, appear in court on the day you're required. Dress nicely. Plead guilty, prepare a statement for the judge telling them you realize you're wrong, your action endanger yourself and other drivers. Plead for clemency, cite your financial difficulties and asking for a lighter fine. That's what I did. I appeared in court dress in my best suit, plead guilty, asked if I can read from my statement (to which the judge allowed), I read my statement, telling the judge I had recently undergone a major surgery and still paying for medical bill (which was true). The judge let me off with a ticket, $800 fine which I can pay off by monthly installments (50 a month), and 16 hour traffic school.I got off easy. But, if you want to try your luck, I was told that if the officer who gave you the ticket didn't show up at court (they usually don't), you can plead not guilty and the judge usually will let you off because the officer isn't there. I didn't try this myself, but when I did my online search some website people swore by it.
