Do Liberals Believe That Congress Has Too Much

Do liberals and conservatives really believe that they can convert each other to their own respective ideologies? If so, how? If not, then how do we move forward as a divided country?

It would be very difficult to unite the country as it was before. It is critical that it not be divided further. The result would likely be the reemergence of guerrilla warfare and bombings like existed in the 1960s.The ball is in the Democratic Party’s court. Conservatives are not becoming more conservative. Dancing is still being allowed. Multiracial marriages are still allowed. People aren’t being forced back into churches. But, conservatives have their limits and they are budging less and less.Leftists are commandeering the Democratic Party and making it their vehicle for radical change. The bottom-feeding news media has given them a legitimacy that they did not have in the 1960s.I am a “moderate” or “centrist”. I know that the “truth, light and goodness” don’t line up neatly along party lines. We need more thinking people. The Democratic Party has to rid itself of its radicals. The Republican Party should help by taking apart the radicals while respecting the Democratic Party leadership. Both sides have to win. The radicals must lose.

Can liberals and conservatives compromise with each other?

Liberals should compromise on their anti-markets, anti-business, anti-rich people beliefs, and then conservatives should compromise on their anti-gay, anti-choice beliefs.

Liberals stay out of conservatives wallets. Conservatives stay out of liberal bedrooms.

It's called compromise and it will make everyone more happy.

What do liberals think of US Congress having a much worse approval rating than Trump?

This liberal thinks that if the American people were truly dissatisfied with Congress, there’d be a larger turnover of members. As it is, most Americans appear to think their own senators and the congressman representing their own district are upstanding, dedicated public servants. It’s all the other members who are bums that need to be thrown out.I wish I had a dollar for every time someone wondered how Ted Kennedy managed to hang onto his Senate seat when he’d “murdered” that poor girl, Mary Jo Kopechne. The answer, of course, is that the decision to re-elect or replace him was up to the people of Massachusetts alone, and for whatever reason(s), election after election, they preferred him to all of his Republican challengers.[I say “murdered” because I believe the theory offered by many people, notably Jack Olsen in his book The Bridge at Chappaquiddick, that Mary Jo herself drove Kennedy’s car when it went off the bridge.]

Who is going to be in control of congress? Democrats believe the blue wave will carry them but Republicans are surging in the polls.

I am writing on the “morning after,” so there is nothing prophetic in this at all. As a Libertarian who doesn’t really care too much for either party, I am pleased with the outcome. The Democrats will have just enough control of the House that they will spend all of the next two years obsessed with doing as much damage to the president as they can (much like the Republicans did during the Clinton administration), and so will not be ready to do much more damage to the economy (unlike the Republicans who could do a lot in the past two years), so both parties will be tied up on the House, wrestling over censure and criminal indictments. And even if the Dems gain an impeachment, any conviction will be torpedoed by the Senate (like it was with Clinton).Meanwhile, judges will continue to be appointed and approved by the Senate that come closer to Libertarian principles (for the most part). Any laws that originate in the Republican senate will be dissected by the Democratic house and any bills that the House actually passes that don’t have anything to do with the president will be crippled by the Senate.Had the senate Democrats concentrated more on making laws than on derailing the Kavanaugh hearings, they would be waking up to a Blue senate this morning. Those shenanigans cost them several swing state seats. For people like me, who hate partisan wrangling and the expensive and debilitating politics that go on with both parties, it will be a pleasant break. And to top it off, the continuing investigation of the president by the House will cost billions of dollars less than if they actually were writing and passing bills. The “Big Blue Wave,” looking back this morning, turned into a “Little Purple Puddle,” and some of us, who are disgusted with both parties in power, could not be happier.

What do liberals believe is Donald Trump’s greatest achievement as president and in life?

Donald’s great achievement for the Republicans has been is 2017 Tax Cuts. This was a big deal. Unfortunately, he will still be alive when the cost of this comes to be paid and his great achievement will become a liability.Donald’s lasting great achievement will be the reorganization of the GOP. The GOP started having a change of values and what was important when the Tea Party was formed. The GOP has a great voter base but it is aging out and dying. By Donald Trump being such a polarizing President then the GOP can attract new voters and evolve into a reenergized party. There might be a bunch of complaining and it will come with a cost for some people. However it is needed every few decades to keep a political party in existence.Donald Trump’s biggest gift for the Democrats was going after ObamaCare. It has been the biggest game changer for health care and the Democrats being the good guys. For years too, too many people were happy to use ACA and not realize it was ObamaCare. When the Republicans threatened so many people all across the country it changed America and Americans. The change of attitude about health care helped to make the “Blue Wave” of 2018 possible. Between Trump/GOP going after people’s healthcare and the Koch brother’s project to prove that Medicare for All would be expensive. These events has proven that Medicare for All would be cheaper and better for Americans. We might end up with Medicare for All or a Single Payer Health Care in a few years. Thanks to the Koch Brothers, We Have More Proof that Single Payer Saves Money and Cares for All of Us

Do you believe the police have too much power?

recently -thanks to technology, nod to youtube.com- the public has become more aware of the misuse of power by police. especially concerning excessive force. who do you go to when the highway patrol hits on you and gives you a ticket for not agreeing to go on a date? or when your cop husband is beating you up every night? or say cops pulling you out of the car and kicked and hitting you? you do you report that to? even with these videos that capture these barbarians the public is lucky if the police officers even get fired much less are brought about on charges. so what is this innocent until beaten guilty? do we need to limit the influence and power of these 'government agents'?
