Do Many People Worldwide Have A Very Negative Impression Of What Life Is Like In California

Whats the deal with this group of Riverside California teens?

Before i start, I'm not going to ask "Why are ALL Southern Californians so mean?". I'm not that narrow minded to stereotype them all like that.
Anyways, I'm almost 20 years old and have done quite a bit of traveling so far, as well as meet people from around the world in many places. About 2 months ago, I traveled to see my friend in Riverside, California, whom i had a crush on. Me and her hung out for a week, and I just have a question about teens from that area.
I hung out with quite a few people in the age group of 17-21. I noticed that the people I hung out with acted like they were 10 years younger than they actually were, said they were automatically better than me because they were from Southern California, lied to me about a lot of things, and were also rather rude to me in general. The girl i went to see was an artist, and belittled my work because she thought she was the Almighty God of the furry fandom(she was a furry, a hardcore one). As for her, she got me to buy her a lot of stuff for her birthday, and ended up being very ungrateful about it. She even told me she lied about her liking me and destroyed the friendship token I gave her.
In the end, all of them, including the girl i went to see, labeled me as an outsider, saying "I wasn't like them" and need to stay with my own people in my "homeland". The girl cut contact with me, told me I made her look bad, but i eventually found out I got her in trouble with her parents because I didn't act like an idiot(like she did). I'm from Kentucky, and hearing them taunt me like that rather upset me. However, I got along with all the parents, who literally took me in as part of the families.
So my question, why is that made those kids from Riverside thought they were better than me because they lived in Southern California?
As I've told you, they found me as an "outsider" and pretty much just be-littled me. The girl was nothing more than a spoiled ungrateful b****, and had an imaginary boyfriend! She's 18 too btw.
What would compell her and her friends to act like that?
I've never met anyone else like that in the places I've traveled, though i'm sure they are around here as well(hope i don't find them). Opinion on why those Riverside teens did the things they did?
Before you ask too, I'm over all of it, just got me curious of what others, especially Southern Californians, think of this

What is the world's impression of Texas versus California?

This is a fun question for me because I lived in California for 8 years and Texas for 3 years. My family lives in Texas so I visit all the time. It’s more of an “informed opinion” rather than an “outside-looking-in world opinion”.California is a naturally beautiful state. The weather is gorgeous, the vistas are gorgeous, there’s so much going for the place just in terms of its terrain and climate. But the control-freak crackpots who infest their local and state governments are practically unbearable.Texas, meanwhile, didn’t win the terrain and weather lottery. It’s hot almost everywhere in the big state (when there isn’t freezing rain), it’s humid, the terrain is flat and unappealing. But thankfully the local and state governments mostly let people do their thing, so business booms.Let me keep this mostly gender ambiguous: If California and Texas were in the dating world, California would be that super gorgeous type bound for the movies on looks alone… but dumb as a rock and crazy to boot. California would be the ultimate example of a “hot mess”. This would be the kind of person that you’d love to go out with because of the physical attraction, but could never see yourself marrying. You’d fight constantly with California because even though California couldn’t manage his/her own life, he/she would be unable to stop trying to manage yours. Ultimately, you’d have to know that dating California was fun for a time, but bad for your soul.If Barney were looking to date California, he’d probably find California to be on or below the Vicky Mendoza Diagonal:Texas, on the contrary, is that less flashy type who would never be paid to do any swimsuit or underwear modeling. But what Texas lacks in looks it makes up for in personality and faithfulness. Texas will trust you because it knows that if you love someone, the best way to show them is to let them be themselves. Texas is that solid and reliable type whom you can take home to your family and not feel the slightest bit of embarrassment because you know that when Texas opens its mouth at the family dinner table, it will say something intelligent, denoting common sense. If a hetero lady were looking to date Texas, this might be Texas’ Facebook profile picture:

Why are people from California so cocky?

WHy do they act like they're better than us and that they've done more than us?

I'm from the midwest and go to school in alabama, and this guy from california shows up thinking he's better and came off as arrogant.

How do Japanese people feel about Filipinos in general?

Japanese people probably view Filipinos more negatively on average than the rest of the world does. In other words, if we had surveys or other data about how Japanese people, Germans, Egyptians, Americans, Costa Ricans, etc. view or treat Filipinos, I’d expect Japanese to be a bit more negative than the rest. The reason is that Japan is pretty racist by contemporary Western standards (perhaps most countries are still pretty racist). Japan is not an individualist culture, It’s a collectivist culture, and a person’s identity and value are deeply tied to their family and country. To some extent, that’s true in individualist cultures like the US, but Japanese people generally don’t operate with an explicit narrative in their heads about how each individual person is special or important. Japanese tend to be quite comfortable openly attributing life destiny to genes and race, to an extent that would spark immediate moral censure in many Western countries.Among Asians (in both Asia and in the US), Japanese and Chinese people have a reputation for seeing themselves at the top of an Asian racial pyramid, or even a human racial pyramid (see Sinocentrism). This is most salient to people from smaller and poorer Asian countries, like the Philippines, Vietnam, Thailand, Cambodia, etc. I remember how a Chinese-American coworker in Mountain View, CA told me that his parents would disown him if he married a Filipina woman, or a Korean, or a Vietnamese girl, or… you get the picture. He qualified it by saying that maybe he could get away with marrying a Japanese girl, just maybe, but any other Asian group was completely beyond consideration. You’ll find similar attitudes among many Japanese and Japanese-Americans. The Chinese are often the only people they see as possibly in the same league. Of course, “often” is vague – keep in mind that it might actually be only a minority of Japanese people that have such attitudes, but I think there’s good evidence that the rate is higher than average. So if 20 percent of the non-Japanese world looks down on Filipinos, maybe 35 percent of Japanese people do, that kind of thing. Group differences in racism are often like this – there’s a difference, but it may not be a majority. Some sources:Japan faces U.N. racism criticism | The Japan TimesEthnic issues in JapanThe Newspaper Columnist Who Wants to Bring Apartheid to Japan

Why is South Korea so Internationally Hated?

well, its not the most hated, but i hear korea seems to have some issues towards america, japan, and china... which is the 3 most major country in the world... and obviously the voices and opinions are the loudest in the major countries, so maybe thats what it comes from...
but with america and china, its a "minor" issues with korea... just maybe some political issues, international business issues, and some few differences...

usually the things to talk about korea on youtube is usually their medial success and race issues... so if youre not talking about korean pop and movies, and most likely you are talking about the race issues about them... so thats maybe another reason why you think theres alot of hate towards korea.... cause i know alot of haters from both sides of korea and japan, flaming each other on the net, if you look in the korean section its usually mostly japanese... and usually the hate comment on the japanese race issues are usually korean, unless youre talking about history, then chinese are sometimes involved contributing to the hate comments...
but then again you never know, maybe some are just haters with 15 different accounts and hate for a living.... cause i know alot of korean americans at the least doesnt seem to have any problems with anyone in america....

thats what i think though... maybe there are some other things to keep in mind... but as far as i know, korea does seem to have racism in them, but not to an extreme degree... so maybe its some politics related...

lastly the surgery issue is somewhat true, but usually revolves around celebrities, but as far as i know from the 2008 statistics... im not sure about 2009 but i dont think 1 year makes a difference, but korea placed 13th place internationally... with america, sweden, japan, brazil, taiwan, and mexico which i can think from top of my head was the countries above them.....
what IT IS, is that korea has the top 5 surgery technology in the world, so you get alot of foreignors from other countries coming to korea for a cheaper price due to competition prices in korea, so you get a higher statistic for korea.... BUT dont get me wrong, im unbiased when it comes to this issue, cause i know korea DOES have quite the number, but its not as bad as some ignorant people says it is....

Opinions of Seattle?

Lots of employment available, our unemployment rate is pretty low.

Much safer than most large cities, but we have our bad areas of town like anywhere else.

Environment is tops, Seattle has one of the most progressive recycling programs in the country (they charge people if they don't recycle!) We also have the Puget Sound, many fresh water lakes, the mountains, and crunchy people, heh
Cost of living is quite high, it is only more expensive to live in Manhattan or California. Californian's come here because our real estate seems cheap.

I simply love living in this area, weather is mild but we still have our seasons. We do have a lot of gray days and light rain often, but in the winter we only get about a week of freezing/snowy weather. Summers are sublime (it's 80 and sunny right now).

Here is the best description I have come across to describe this area:

"Living in Seattle is like having the most beautiful girlfriend in the world...

...only she always has a cold!" - unknown
