Do Men Like Dark Haired Women Like Nigella Lawson

What books should everyone have on their shelf, in order to create the impression they are an intellectual?

I would like to put forth a general strategy. . .Having a bookshelf stuffed with college course books might seem intellectual but when your bookshelf reads like a collection of dead white guys it is time to spice it up with some modern accents.   The first part of my strategy involves taking a difficult author and then placing their most recent book on your shelf (hardback of course).  An example would be to have The Angel Esmeralda: Nine Stories by Don DeLillo.  Most people are still stuck trying to finish one of his previous works, so by owning the newest book it implies you have already finished everything else. The second part of my strategy includes having some sharp and irreverent  criticism and essays in your collection.  Something by Martin Amis or Christopher Hitchens will work. The third part is to have lesser known authors who are published on high-brow imprints.  For instance, the Random House U.K. imprint Jonathan Cape cranks out Man Booker Prize winners.  Instead of having their recent Booker-winner Julian Barnes's A Sense of Ending how about the quirky photography collection Haunted Air? Say you didn't know a lot about it but you just love the imprint.Fourth: trilogies.  Trilogies say you are a committed reader.  Cormac McCarthy's Border Trilogy or Phillip Roth's American Trilogy (or Durrell's Alexandria Quartet FTW) are good examples.Lastly (for now), have some used borderline literary paperbacks like Updike's The Witches of Eastwick and say you read that when you were visiting some friends in the Hamptons. I guess what you need on the coffee table is a topic unto itself. . .

Couples' costumes suggestions? [I also have my own ideas!]?

I'm already starting to think of costume ideas for my boyfriend and I because we head back to university soon so anything I need to sew, I need to do at home right away.
Here are some suggestions I've already told him but he hasn't said on whether he likes them or not haha.

- Peach and Mario (We love to play Mario Kart.)
- Christine Daae and the Phantom (I was this before and loved it, but I'm afraid if I wore my dress, people could spill something on it.)
- Misty and Ash from Pokemon (He loves Pokemon and is 1/2 Japanese.)
- Mulan and Captain Shang (One of our favorite movies and I could be Mulan after she cuts her hair because my hair looks like this right now.)
- Princess Leah and Han Solo (He's obsessed with Star Wars)
- Any combination of HP characters (We love Harry Potter.)

What do you guys think of these ideas? Any suggestions on how we could go about doing any of these?
OR if you have anything better and unique, that'd be great! (I was going to go for Juno/Bleaker, but he won't have me pretending to be pregnant hah.) Thanks in advance!

Is a 40-year-old woman attractive to men if she is in good health?

Yes, often the woman around 40–50 years old are quite attractive and do care about their health, going to fitness / gym, eating healthy food. Women sexuality also often increases at that time, while in their younger ages they could have lower attraction to men, or maybe are just “too proud”, receiving a lot of easy attention - which makes hard to relate to 20–30 years ones. I personally believe that the proper weight, no major over-weight is much more important quality for woman to be attractive, rather than an age.Another important quality of woman is not to be too relentless / too dominating / too much controlling towards the man.Although around 60 years old and older may show the age even in case of the fitness / healthy live habits. That’s why in old times the people were wise enough to marry women who were 10–20 years younger - because during later years of the marriage having 15–20 years of age difference provides an increased attraction as the women ages quickier than men, in general, assuming both having healthy live habits.

Why is scarf accepted in the West for nuns but not for Muslims?

Please read the whole answer before passing judgmentSimply put, nuns are perceived as having chosen their profession, thus their uniform. Muslim women are perceived as being forced to wear hijab. In western society people have nearly no restrictions on what they should should wear. Many people put a lot of effort into composing their outfits and use their clothes as a form of expression and a way of showing their personality. At the same time, westerners are comfortable in tighter fitting clothing. From a westerner’s point of view, Muslim garb can be seen as lacking personality and restrictive.Another important thing about western perception, when you say “hijab” most people think:This seems very dull, and oppressive to a westerner. The stereotype of Islamic society is that men control the women, so this additionally comes off as extremely insecure. On a deeper level, the reasoning behind dressing like this, even from the Qu’ran, aside from showing piety to Allah, is that it protects women, which perpetuates rape culture and victim blaming — women are at fault for putting themselves in danger and men are simply animals. This is demeaning to both men and women.A minor side note, in the west people don’t cover their faces unless there is a really strong wind. Faces are a quick, simple way to identify people. Some people might see the acceptance of burqas as a way for someone to be sneaky, rather than a sign of piety. In any case, most Muslim women do choose to dress like this, because they believe in the piety.Back to my point, most hijab are more like this:Tasteful, capable of expression, functional, and at a glance, most westerners would think nothing of it.In summation, westerners have no problems with this:NIGHTMARE FUEL!Because westerners know nuns chose their profession. They have problems with hijab because they equate it with a burqa (beside the point, I know) and westerners assume women are being forced to use it rather than choosing to wear it on their own.
