Do Most Post Grad Jobs Know What Job They Will Have Once Finishing Uni

What are the job opportunities for Indian students after doing a postgraduate degree from the UK?

As of 2016 - bleak. There are a number of reasons for this - the UK has a shrinking economy, hence jobs have reduced. The Guardian (2016) reports that graduate jobs have shrunk by 8% since 2015. Most of my students (maximum of whom were from the UK and EU) did not find any work after their under graduation.Being an Indian, you are on the 3rd list of priorities for any job opening - and this is as per regulation and has nothing to do with racism or qualifications. Priority 1 = UK citizenPriority 2 = EU citizens (despite all the talk of brexit, the employers have not changed the criteria)Priority 3 = Not priority 1 and 2 (People from India, Pakistan, Middle East, Africa, USA, China)If a person from UK and EU satisfies the criteria laid out for the job, then your applications will not even be seen. (I was plain lucky that no one from these countries qualified for my work as a lecturer!).Plus since 2013, any employer wishing to employ a non UK / EU citizen has to seek permission from the home office PRIOR to taking your interview. This includes paying them the fee - and most employers shy from doing this (My reasonably large university had paid the fee and obtained permission for employing 6 such people for the year that I was taken). This advance payment and permission system immediately repels most employers who do not find it worth the trouble.Even if your employer has the required permission, you will have just 2-3 months to search + find the job. You will receive your passing out certificate in October / November, and your student visa will be valid upto January. In other words, you have to hope for all the above to happen precisely at that time. That does not happen in the real world. For example: academic openings typically are advertised in Feb - May.And while you may be willing to do anything (even being a waiter / stacking shelves in Tesco) till you get better work in line with your education, these jobs will not get you a work permit, without which you are not allowed to live in the UK.Having said that, if you are keen, observant and eager to learn, the education that you receive in UK (from inside the classroom and especially from outside the classroom) is excellent, highly valuable and I simply cannot put a price on it.Just don't expect it to enable you to work there.

Not graduating university at 20, should I be ashamed?

No, you shouldn't be ashamed people graduate college at different ages.
I won't be graduating college until I'm 22 or 23. I'm 19 now.
I know a student at my community college who's in her 30 and has kids. Her grades are superb.
I think she only has one year left. You shouldn't be ashamed. Most kids who graduate from high school who's 18 or 19 doesn't graduate college until their 22 or 23 anyways. It depends on what their major is and how long it's going to take them.
So, you're in good hands don't worry about graduating college at a certain age. Your age doesn't matter. What matters is the experience and what you learn.

Do people find a good job after finishing from Yale University?

A2AI don’t go out of my way looking for someone with an Ivy League education. I care a lot less about where you graduated from than your actual ability. That you graduated at all speaks to some minimal level of education, but frankly, if you have a CS degree, the San Jose Community College answers to the same Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET) that Yale answers to.So if you have an accredited degree, having it from Yale just means you either spent more, or they gave you a scholarship. It doesn’t make you better at CS than someone who went to SJCC.In fact the SJCC person probably has more prestigious internships than the Yale graduate. That said, if you want to talk about in other than STEM fields… it might matter.Someone mentioned “gender studies”; I went out to Indeed and looked. There are 169 jobs in gender studies, and they are all, as far as I was able to tell … teaching gender studies. Worse… many of them require a masters degree. If that’s your degree, your job is going to be in something else, even if you graduated from Yale.So no, not all people find a good job, merely because they graduated Yale.People like me don’t care about the “Yale” part, and the people who care are generally not hiring managers.Mostly, you will end up with a wealthier personal network; that can sometimes open some doors. If you have a scholarship to Yale, take it.If you are paying out of pocket, at least get your associates some place else, even if you want to spend the last two of your bachelors at Yale.

I don't want to go to college after graduating?

After years of stressing, pulling my hair out, not enjoying my life even a little bit, and severe depression, I've decided that I probably don't want to go to college/university. After next year, I'm graduating. I'll be 16, and I'll have to figure out what I want to do with my life by then or my mom will force me to go to college (she's not letting me leave the house or live with my father who's much more progressive until I'm 18, which I hate.) I never really wanted to go to college, even when I was younger, because I didn't find the replaying of stressing over school adding debt and a boring work life much fun. I'm going to start my own business while my mom is making me stay at home and see how it goes, but I don't want to tell her that I'm considering not going to college because I know she'll tell me I'm making a big mistake and that I'll regret it. People say that college isn't the same as high school, but people told me that high school would be better than middle school, middle school would be better than elementary, etc. Are they right? Will I regret that choice? Will it be better than high school, or will I be spending four years stressing about money and grades all over again? I'd rather off myself than go through that again, I honestly hate school, and want nothing to do with the people and schools where I live once I leave it.

Im going into college, but i dont know what i want to be!?

When i sit and think about what i want to be, i come up with a billion choices, and it is really frustrating. I want to be everything in life and do it all. I know that really isnt possible, but how can i narrow down my choices on what i want to be in life.

Is the generation Y doomed to work 2 minimum wage jobs?

The problem is I'm from California. My sister and I agree.
80% of college graduates return home and earn minimum
wage. In fact, we only know of one person who is doing well.

It makes me wonder why should I finish college at all?!?

Discuss.
