Do Republicans Actually Think

Why do Republicans and cons think that the really wealthy work hard for their money?

You are very confused as to economic stats among republicans and democrats. That isn't your fault, it a big lie pushed in the media and entertainment industry, but the very rich democrat elite who own most of the media and entertainment industry.

Most of those super rich are democrats, some of them worked very hard, but most of the extremely rich are heirs of old money, nearly all of those are democrats.

Most of the very poor have made bad choices. Most of those who've done very well have put more effort in, often physical effort, but more often than that the kind of mental effort that goes far beyond what a 9-5 job requires. Most of those who've come up from nothing in business have worked much harder than the average joe. Many have been working 12 to 20 hours a day 6 or 7 days a week for a very long time before things work out, and sometimes even that wasn't enough and they fail, and many who are well off have failed and gotten back up and tried again and again. You don't see those who are satisfied with a 9-5 working like that, and you don't see that many who are not interested in putting much more into it making it to the top 2% either.

Some work very hard and have failed so far, and are poor right now. You won't see those guys whining about the rich and voting for those who engage in class warfare because they aspire to win at life and don't like others holding them down by applying onerous taxation against those who get ahead by putting in so much more effort than average.

What do Republicans think would be the ideal government?

Should it be a company that would be run on the stock exchange? Would everything be a company, from the police force, to the schools?

I feel we should let that happen, we will see how fast they do a 180 and nationalize everything!

Wouldn't that be a nightmare though?

Do Republicans actually believe Trump is smart?

It is questions like this that assure me Trump will be re-elected in 2020. The opponents seriously underestimated his capacity, and continue to do so, in spite of all evidence to the contrary. This is one of those cognitive-dissonance moments a Trump Supporter likes to relish.Ahh - they still thing he’s stupid - probably because the mainstream media beats that drum, and their own confirming bias tells them it’s okay to believe it.I recall a man telling me he would weigh himself at the gym, at work, and at home, and take the worst of the numbers. He had a home blood-pressure strap for his wrist and once a week would take three readings, morning, noon, and night, and go with the worst of the numbers.I asked him why, and he said the best of the numbers only feeds my need to think everything is okay - remain in denial. But the worst of the numbers says the opposite, and spurs me to action. The Rasmussen presidential tracking poll has Trump hovering at 50 percent approval. Whenever I mention this, people immediately trot-out the other polls that show it lower, but only marginally so.The Republicans in COTUS look at the worst case. They don’t let the best-case succumb them into thinking it’s even remotely okay to criticize or withhold support from Trump, because worst case - they disaffect half the voters. They need those voters to survive. But the Left regularly looks at the lower numbers - because it gives them hope. If they look at the higher numbers, it gives them despair.Like the despair we saw on election night 2016 when the Dems realized they had lost - even though all the polls said Hillary would win in a landslide. Those polls were victims of confirming bias, too. They believed what they wanted to believe.Point being, the OP wants to believe Trump is stupid. Some posters here will agree, and “confirm” the bias of the OP. The OP will ignore all the other posters and rest their hope in the Trump-is-Stupid meme.Works for me. See you at the polls.

Do Republicans really think Canada is a Socialist hell hole?

Canada is fine. I just don't want to be Canadian. Why do Canadians always think Americans need to adopt their policies? We have 10x the population. Some things just don't scale up.

And please. Take back Justin Bieber. We don't want him here.

Do Republicans actually believe Ann Coulter’s claim that, “without a wall, the US will now have open borders"?

Some do; some don’t. She’ll always have an audience, unfortunately. We don’t have a wall now, so does that mean we have open borders? Depends on what side of the debate you’re on. Please define “open borders.” Does it mean unfettered, non-restricted, unguarded entry? Does it mean partially protected borders? I could make a case we have “open borders” given that large portions of our NORTHERN border are totally unprotected. If I wanted, I could easily walk into Idaho, or North Dakota, or Alaska from Canada. Wanna build a wall there too, Ann? Or is it more acceptable to allow Canadians, rather than Mexicans, unfettered access? Granted, there’s not a huge influx of Canadians coming to the U.S., but if you want to discuss “open borders”, there’s certainly one to the north as much as there is one to the south.I’ve said this numerous times: Ann Coulter says whatever will get her attention and sell her products. Most of what she says doesn’t warrant serious consideration. But there are those who will buy whatever she says because it’s what they want to hear. Shame on them for not having the critical intellectual curiosity to delve into what she says, and shame on her for exploiting their naiveté.

What do republicans and conservatives really think about democrats and liberals?

FD:  I do not belong to either party.  I am conservative on some issues and moderate/liberal on others, so my views do not map precisely onto "conservative" and "republican" views.  But they definitely run counter to progressive views, so I probably qualify to answer this.Republicans/conservatives (RC) view Democrats/liberals (DL) as soft-hearted and soft-headed.  They think of DLs as much more prone to appeals to emotion than to appeals to reason.  They resent the fact that DLs consider their helpful intent to be more important than the actual, often harmful, effects of their policies, and the perverse incentives their policies create for society by effectively penalizing success and rewarding failure.  RCs believe that reducing inequality is generally achieved by making everyone worse off, and the fact that liberals win votes by claiming otherwise is either the result of ignorance or cynicism.  Most of all, RCs view DLs as sanctimonious and arrogant, without any reason to be.  For good measure, they think of DL men generally as less than manly, and DL women as often shrill and high-maintenance.I imagine that religious conservatives consider liberals to be godless, which is about as harsh a judgment as one can render on another human being (from their perspective).  Furthermore, they believe that their godlessness leads to some of the problems that afflict our society.  (Yeah, that's crazy, but liberals have their parallel superstitions regarding what government is able to do.)

Do Republicans really think the Mueller investigation is a witch-hunt?

After continued attacks against Mueller from the White House, disapproval of Mueller has risen some. In March, according to a poll, people who voted for Donald Trump in 2016 had a 42% disapproval rating for Mueller. So at least a significant number of Republicans likely think that the investigation is a witch hunt.I can understand that, given the appalling lack of information shown by Trump supporters in discussing the issue. They are unaware of several important things and they also believe other things that are completely false; for example, I cannot conceive of anyone who has read the Mueller indictments against the Russians seriously denying that the Russians literally invaded the 2016 election, nor seriously contending that the investigation is a witch hunt or a waste of money. We ought to be giving a medal to Mueller for that work!Further, Mueller opponents seem unaware of the specific information that triggered the investigation including:A Trump campaign staffer who knew that Russians had hacked DNC emails 2 months before it was made publicMeetings with Trump staffers and Russian nationals in which “dirt on Hillary Clinton” was discussed. Those points are admitted, not speculative. What the public evidence does not show is that the Trump campaign followed up on any of those Russian overtures, but that is why there is an investigation. It’s not a witch hunt. One answer here on Quora said Mueller “chose” go to after Trump rather than Democrats. That’s false. Mueller was directed to look at the Trump campaign for possible coordination with Russians to influence the 2016 election. That points out one other misapprehension of Trump supporters, that this is about Trump: Trump is not, nor has he ever been the target of the Mueller investigation. His campaign is what is being investigated. And further, if one reads the indictments and rare public statements by Mueller, one finds that Mueller takes great pains not to cast accusations at Trump. This was an investigation of a Republican presidential campaign by Republicans. The contention that the purpose was to “get Trump” is patently absurd.
