Are blacks oppressed in America?If you have to ask... then chances are that you already know the answer.People should also realize that there are different levels of oppression.Some of us blacks are high school drop outs... and oppressedSome are millionaires... and oppressedSome are cops... and oppressedSome are upstanding citizens... and oppressedSome are criminals in jail...and oppressedIt doesn't matter what you do for a living or how much money you make doing it. As two peoples who've suffered persecution, do Blacks feel a kinship with Jews?
Sometimes….There are a few cases where many black folks would certainly:Make Antisemitic comments.Deny the Holocaust.Make claims that Jews aren't from Israel rather it was the black folks themselves.Black Hebrew Israelites. Enough said.Call Jews “Whites”, “Converts”, and “Khazars”.Granted, there are many of Jewish people who also makes racist comments towards Black folks, I can't deny that.As for kinship? Well, that depends.
Why do people think the government oppresses minorities?
Why do people believe our government actively tries to oppress minorities? For example, I am completely against the War on Drugs and I think drugs should be legal, but I don't understand why do people think that drugs are illegal because the government wants to imprison blacks. I know that our government did try to oppress blacks up until the 1960's, and they did so because the majority of the population wanted them to. Why, though, do people believe that the government still does this?
Why are some white people so insensitive to Black America's problems?
white people should not be held responsible for the short-comings of black people. black people should expect more from themselves the way east indians expect their children will be doctors and lawyers and they should continue to work to better their communities the way calvin butts has done with harlem. my reasoning has nothing to do with obama "breaking through" or the playing field now being "level". it has to do with my own experiences with both races and realizing that the problems come from within. the way the two races react to eachother within their own communities is vastly different. when grown white people see a white person being somewhat "different", they usually chuckle and go on about their business...live and let live. when grown black people in inner cities see someone being somewhat "different", the reaction tends to be vocal and/or hostile as i've experienced...being continually demeaned by people that seem to be just like you is crippling to the psyche and detrimental to aspiration. it is not white people's responsibility to come in and babysit and make things better. fyi: black people tend to chuckle at people that bring up slavery and africa as a reason for modern-day problems. try not to mention that or the term "african dispora" if you decide to become a black rights activist.
Why is it that Whites pretend to be oppressed?
We are in the majority!! We have never been oppressed by anyone for any reason. Yes, Blacks have BET, but we have every other channel on the television station!! What about those channels? I used to think that whites were 'held down' by a 'black world' until I met the love of my life who suffers everyday because of racism. Walking beside her is not exactly walking in her shoes, but it has opened my eyes to something I never wanted to believe until now.
Why do (some) white people have illusions of persecution?
They're always saying stuff like ''minorities/immigrants have more rights than us...they're (non-whites and politicans) taking everything'' and ''we're losing our freedoms''. And they go on and on like ''we're not allowed to be proud of what we are anymore''. Basically, whites always make out like they are being oppressed by ethnic minorities and the ''politically correct people''. Do whites REALLY think they are being oppressed in UK and USA? They talk like it. I don't remember hearing that whites were going to be confiscated of their wealth, be put in a camp, killed, or be denied education, voting or freedom or anything like that. I hear and see so many whites talking like this and it annoys the sh1t out of me. Maybe we SHOULD have a white history month, then they'll learn alllllllll about oppression, loss of rights, hatred and discrimination, because 90% of white history is basically that.
In your opinion, what group of people has had it worse throughout history, blacks or Jews?
If you’re looking at historical Europe, I would have to say the Jews. Not only were they subjected to several horribly cruel occupations in Ancient times (the Assyrians, Greeks, Romans), but they were also the punching bag of Western Civilization from the Middle Ages until the Holocaust. Every time there was a famine or plague, it was often the local Jewish settlement that was blamed and targeted. Even the Crusades resulted in the deaths of tens of thousands of Jews along with Muslims as the crusaders weren’t entirely picky when sacking a town.Now if you’re talking specifically about either America or modern times, Blacks have had it way worse. Jews in the US are similar to Irish Catholics in that at one time they were pariahs but are now fully accepted (except by the fringe extremists). Jews in America were at times forced out of communities, murdered, or lunched for crimes they didn’t commit (aka Leo Frank), but they didn’t face the same degradation that Blacks did under slavery. Post WW II there was a major outpouring of support for the Jewish community and returning Jewish vets could take part in the VA loan program and GI Bill for schooling. Black veterans were denied these benefits and also forced into segregated communities until the Civil Rights era. Therefore, the average Black family missed out on the wealth building that most middle class White and Jewish families have taken advantage of since the 1950s.Also, most modern American Jews can easily pass for white at first glance,. The only difference between my Jewish friend and my Irish Catholic in-laws is she is slightly tanner. She will never get kicked out of a Starbucks for example just because of her looks.
