Do These Four Look Like They Could Be Siblings For My Story

I’m the second of four siblings: the only sister. We are all in our 40s and 50s. We don't speak much. How do I broach things without causing pain?

You asked a question which is similar to my own situation.I have 5 brothers and a sister. We rarely communicate. The problem is that from a very early age we became independent and carved our own journeys. Childhood was not much a family life. We spread all over the world and lost touch. Its definitely not about money. Its about knowing your family and how they are getting on. How the kids are growing, what they do, where do they travel etc.etc. Unfortunately, the answers don’t cover the questions and each of us retreat back into our comfort zones.Over the years we carried that independence into our adult lives and then family came along and kids and career. We lost touch. But we know where everyone is and what they are possibly doing. I guess when disaster strikes there will be a flurry of calls. The best solution for this is that you become the nerve centre of communication. Write a letter, send an email, send a few pictures, talk about the weather, open communication channels, send recipes, pictures of childhood memories, news about your pet, crochet work, an interesting article etc. Communication that is not about money but about social things that all may be interested in. You would be surprised at how they will respond when they know you are the central piece in the action. Its a small effort for a big reward. We are all in our 60s and 70s and the first opportunity I get I send a simple link to a song we sang together in our younger days. I manage to call them on their birthdays, although they don’t call me back on mine, but that’s ok too. Finally , I've been suggesting quietly we all get together one last time and chat up the good ‘ol days.I can tell you, honestly, I’ve been planning this family reunion for 20 years but nothing has happened yet. It may never happen. Who knows. But heck, at least I tried to build bridges and burn the grass over the pathway. One day it may work-it may never work.Good luck. You be the centrepiece because you have the best chances of bringing them all together in one place. Once they see you in your home they will all realise how selfish they may have been these many years!

Girl names for four sisters in a story?

Thanks for all your suggestions, I just want to say that I'm new to this website, and I was so suprised how quickly I got loads of replies, thanks a lot everyone!
Ok so I think I'm settling on these:

Evelyn (nickname Evie or Eve)
Alexandra (nickname - Alexa or Allie)
Kaitlin (nickname - Katie or Kate)
Jessica (nickname Jesse)

For their middle names I'm thinking of having flowers (or is that a bit weird?)
Which do you think go with the names above best?

Rose
Iris
Clover
Poppy
Violet
Primrose
Jasmine
Lily
Bluebelle

And finally as a surname:
Francis
Richards
Rhyder
Everett
... or anything else?

What are the rules about siblings joining the military?

My cousin just joined & he says his sister can't join because his parents only have two children. He said the military won't talk the second one of two OR the only child you have. Is that true? What other rules apply? Is this a "Saving Private Ryan" rule?

Sibling Abuse? Your experience?

i i was abused by my older brother ( hes 18 months older then me )
but then i think my other siblings were abused by him also , but i was the main target, some times all my brothers would "gang" up on me . ( had 3 brothers , i was the second eldest )

Mostly it was verbal abuse . He constantly put me down, tell me i was fat and usless and i should jump of a building because no one would miss me .
If i said anything while he was in the room , i was interupted with him yelling " shut ur fu*king mouth, no body cares ".
I went out of my way to be nice to him , it didnt work . So in the end i went out of my way to stay out of his way , lol . If he was in the house , i would lock myself in my bedroom .
We had maybe 1 physical fight every week , it would either be me screaming and yelling , maybe get one punch or kick in then running of to my room . Or he would get me in a hold up against the wall , get in my face and tell me to F off ( he usually had me round the throat ). he would only ever punch me in the shoulder / arms .
It started when he hit 12-13 yrs old and started to decrease when he was 21 .
It made my teenage yrs hell . I thought about suciside for a yr or two , then realised i was to smart for that , and then turned my thoughts to how i could kill him and make it look like an accident .. and some times not an accident .. i never acted on any of it tho .. I did write alot of poetry about killing him tho . I really believed that if he was dead , everything would be better .

My parents could never punish him , nothing worked . Occasionaly my dad would smack him when he was younger , but my brother grew up to be bigger then my dad .
And they always just told me to ignore him .

There is no way that i would ever want to relive my teenage yrs with him in them.

Now im 25 , hes 26 . We live about 5 hrs apart . i see him maybe once a yr . He is nice to me , and we can have a convasation. He will even call me for my birthday .
I thank his girlfriend for his change in behaviour, she made him grow up and told him he couldnt treat women that way , doesnt matter if i was his sister or not .

edit :
reading the other answers ... i started to remember other things that i had blacked out .
He once stabbed me with a steak knife in the hand .. Im not sure why either .. i hadnt said a thing to him all day .

My life story plz tell me what i can do?

You have been through alot at such a young age and there is no question these things are going to effect you thinking and feeling processes.

You are to young to take on the emotional responsibility of the things you have had to endure, and is time for you to start being more independent for your own personal preservation.

If you can find a job, get one. Or volunteer working with younger or disabled children. Get involved in a sport, or volunteer for school or church programs.

Your home life is to heavy and you need to find things to help you grow in a positive direction that will bring faith to your heart.

What is a good title for a story with the 4 elements?

This is a book about the four elements (fire, earth, water and air) and I'll give you a summary below...

Eleni is the last daughter of Graham and Alaura. Her father, Graham, tells her siblings and herself stories about their 17th century grandfather, Artemus that could settle all elements and bend them. Artemus was called the "Avatar". No one in 300 years has been able to do the things he could. Eleni posessed a special ability, when her older siblings made her angrier then ever, her power came to her from her 17th century Avatar grandfather, Artemus.

I need a story name, I'm already a quarter of the way to the end and I'm hoping to get this published.
