Do these herbs work for Schizophrenia?
Good news! I studied herbalism for years. I also took courses (but did not finish) to get certified as an herbalist. Bad news! NO!!! Schizophrenia is a serious disorder. I am sorry, but it is just way too severe for any herbs to heal. In fact, herbs cannot heal this this disorder. You have schizophrenia. You really need to work with a psychiatrist. You cannot avoid it. No matter how much you try, no matter how hard you search, you will never be able to minimize the symptoms with natural methods. You really need to comply with the treatment plan your psychiatrist prescribes (if that means meds, then so be it, take the meds). There are zero herbs on G_d's Earth that will reverse the chemical differences in your synapses. Honest. Save the herbs for more mild things, like colds, minor cuts, etc. They are just way to weak for the serious stuff. I am basing this on years and years of study in herbalism and current research (all scientific research that is reviewed and published in actual medical journals show that the ONLY treatment that has been proven effective [time and time again] to minimize schizophrenia is through the psychiatrist). Try having an open mind. Go back to your psychiatrist again and see what s/he has to say. Keep your mind open.
Any good herbs for schizophrenia?
NO.Once schizophrenia has reached the point of diagnosis there is damage being done to the brain. Getting what ever treatment you can to prevent crisis is the most important thing.Eating healthy will help. But there are currently no US medical studies on effectiveness of any supplement.
Do any of the alternative treatments for schizophrenia work?
My son has had schizophrenia for 10 years and is mostly noncompliant with the medication regimen. Even when he is compliant it doesnt seem to help much other than making him sluggish, heavy and unable to function.It takes away the terror but does not really allow him to live a "normal" life I have begun investigating some alternative treatments such as orthomolecular treatment, Edgar Cayce wet cell Battery, and nutritional protocols that address the whole person. I would like input from others on their experiences and what they found to be helpful in addition to medications,also caregivers impressions on the current treatments being offered for this devastating disease.

Nothing that has really worked. I’ve seen a lot of fads come and go in 50 years… in fact a good many ‘cures’ and ‘treatments’ have been recycled, or ‘repurposed’ from intellectual disability to autism to schizophrenia… none of them work for anything.As an adjunct to medication, however, there are some really promising treatments:Training in medication management and symptom management, crisis managementEducation about schizophrenia, advocacy and support(at one point, California mandated that drug companies had to provide classes on most of the informational items I listed here, I don’t think any other state has done so)Training and education for the rest of the familyCounseling. Hope this helps :) Not to scare you or discourage taking drugs until such time you might reverse this, but be aware that anti-psychotic drugs can cause brain shrinkage.
