Do They Ask For A Reference In All Retail Stores And When Would They Ask For One Would It Be At

Job references for retail store?

All you really need is a name, phone # & consistent answer about how long you've known each other. They may ask for personal information about your work ethic, leadership, honesty, etc...

Most of the time, employers may ask for references, due to lack of work history...

In this case, I would recommend a Priest, Police Officer, Doctor, as just the title alone gives the reference credibility.

Good Luck!

Do most retail employers check references?

I went for an interview this morning at a retail craft store for a night time stock position. The hiring manager said I was an excellent candidate and gave me all the details about starting the job next week. She spoke to the store owner and told me I had the job and to go out to buy my uniform, but then she asked for references. Not having them on me, I told her I would give her a call a bit later with them. Two hours later I called and gave her two (legitimate) references, but said that one of them should be called today. She thanked me, but I just found out that her shift is over, and she hasn't called either reference.
Did she simply forget, or do some retail hiring managers just not call the references, and if so, why would she ask for them?
If she tries to call my second reference later in the week, he won't be available at that number. What to do?

How to ask if a retail store is hiring?

Hi. I'm 19 and live in Southern CA;Anaheim. I recently left my job(only worked for a week) because I wanted more hours and more job experience & because I disliked it(telemarketing. A relative referred me. I got paid but it was just for the work I did. Even though they said they were going to pay me 10/hr.)

I saw online that some retail stores are hiring and food places. K-mart, Mc Donalds, YogurtLand, Frozen Assets in Anaheim, Susies Deals etc
I'm going to go this week in the morning & ask if they are hiring. How do I ask? Who do I ask? Can I print out an application if their website has one and bring it in? How do I dress?

I don't have any previous job experience other than babysitting & the telemarketing job doesn't count because it was for a short while. They shouldn't reject me if I have no work history &references right? Everyone has to start somewhere. I have a HS Diploma, bilingual in English & Spanish, have computer knowledge, quick learner, responsible, honest, organized, dedicated & hard worker.

Thanks

Do part-time jobs check references?

most part-time jobs depending on what your applying for won't do a background as its expensive to run one. even construction jobs don't check, but based on your knowledge and how you talk is what will get you hired. labor work won't get checked, but any handling of money will. some might check out a reference especially if you list alot of them. if you list any previous employers they don't need any permission to call them. some aps will ask if you don't want them called. check this and your looking like your hiding something or if they are out of business just state can't be contacted as they are out of business. good luck on the job!
