Do They Sell Turkish Lamps At The Istanbul Airport

How safe is public transportation in Istanbul, Turkey?

Based on visits to Turkey ending a few years ago, public transport in Turkey is mostly better than in a good part of the US. The light rail in Istanbul is very convenient and in the countryside the bus service is ok (not exciting.)Safety is no more an issue in Turkey than in most of Europe … but it IS the Middle East and anything can happen. Be alert and keep your passport and wallet hidden.

How safe is Istanbul for Indian tourists?

That was Kingshuk DasadhikariOne of the best aerospace engineers of India, who disappeared after this photo in Istanbul in the cold waters of the Bosphorus. For several months the Indian state tries to find him. Meanwhile, the Japanese state and intelligence has also turned on because he has worked there recently in important projects. This was Akshada DesaiShe wanted to explore Turkey on her own, a huge mistake ! Unfortunately, she has also disappeared for a long time. All of Mumbai stands on feet and wants the return of all the golgappas they have send us in a multilateral agreement. But what makes this thing rather mysterious is the man with both in the last photos. The authorities still could not determine who he works for, Germany or Turkey. Recently, even information from Zee News brought to light that he has also worked for the Indian secret service. The last time he was seen on Quora and since then there is no further information. All in one, this incident is one of the biggest challenges Interpol ever had. Let's see where the result brings us.As a precaution, the Turkish and Indian states have issued a warning to all Indian tourists on the website of their foreign ministries for a Istanbul trip, as following:Please do not drink the Turkish tea with less than two sugarsDo not get too close to locals, the hospitality can be deadlyAfter the kebab and sarma, try some pieces of baklavaDefinitely listen to the fortune tellers who read your destiny from the Turkish coffee cupSo, my friend.Sarcasm off !The only danger you can encounter as an Indian in Istanbul is that your blood sugar and cholesterol level shoots up a bit because of the awesome food :)That's it. You are always welcome.PS: My friends in the photos are all well and I can not wait to welcome them back here.

What interesting places could I visit in Istanbul if I had 7 hours between flights including time for check-in?

As a local who using public transport everyday and having flight from Atatürk airport very offen I will try to calculate yout options. So let see;I saw that many people suggested to go to the OldCity. First; leaving the plain (10min) waiting for the line on passport control (15–20min), if you have a luggage it may take 20–25min (And not the best kind of choice would be to go anywhere with luggage), from exit gate to the subway walk inside of the airport (5–7min) . In total leaving the airport takes 1 hour. If you take the subway you need to go until Zeytinburnu station (15min) At Zeytinburnu you need to take the tram(2min) which goes directly to oldcity but takes (33min) So your way to go there is around (50min) And you should being in the airport 2 hours ago before your flight (believe me 2 hours is the safest option) + the way go bact to airport with the same transports (50min). In total =5 hours. You have barely 2 hours to see the Oldtown. You can start from Beyazit Square where you can find Grand Bazaar. It’s kind of labyrinth with Jewellery, traditional turkish carpet, old style lamp etc authentic shoops (20) End of the Bazaar you can find Cemberlitas square where is just a stone-tower but I cannot say that it’s interesting. After (5min) walk tou will be at Sultanahmet Square. In your one side you can see Blue Mosque, on your other side Hagia Sophia Museum. They both are main spots and a huge history behind them. You can go inside to the Blue Mosque without fee (10min) and you can see the beautiful ceramic art work and the elegant architecture (15min). If you walk back to square there will be a small restaurant for traditional drinks, shisha, döner, kebeb.. You might try Turkish coffee and Lokum as a desert or you can try köfte (meatball) with Ayran. (40 min) Now time is up you really need to go to the tram without losing time. If you think that it would worth it probably this would be your best option.I hope that this information helped a bit to decide what to do in your 7 hours. Wishing you a great journey.

How was Erdogan able to land in the airport during the 2016 coup when the coup soldiers had tanks at the airport and F16s flying in the air?

Erdogan was in a hotel in Marmaris, in Aegean shore. When he realized the coup attempt, President’s helicopter landed in hotel’s heliport with no lights. From there, pilots flew low with no lights to avoid radar & visual detection. When they reached to Dalaman airport, presidential aircraft was assigned call sign of Turkish Airline’s. So on radar screens it was shown as if it was a commercial passenger airplane.Coup plotter might still guess and target the plane but didn’t want to risk shooting a passenger airline. There are some rumors in Turkish newspapers that another plane was flying from Dalaman to Ankara as to confuse the coup plotter (one plane to Istanbul and another to Ankara from Dalaman at same time. Though this is not verified)When President Erdogan’s plane was approaching to Istanbul airport, Air Traffic Control (ATC) operator informed the pilot that there is a fast flying aircraft at Bosporus altitude ranging from 1500 feet to 6000 feet. It was a warning that it could be a threat. Also ATC operator informed the pilot there are problems in apron and runway. Once ATC gave clearance that runway and apron was relatively safer, Presiden Erdogan’s plane landed. When he landed to Istanbul, tanks at airport were withdrawn already, people pushed the tanks back. One of the F16’s flew very close to the President’s plane just before the landing as per the reports.Erdogan took the risk in any case.

I am a Filipina, i have a boyfriend in istanbu, turkey. We are planning to get married in istanbul,?

Where is your boyfriend in Manila or still in Turkey?

Usually it takes a month for the visa to be processed. Hindi naman sila basta basta nag-dedecline pero you need to have your supporting docs with you. As I said, mas mabilis din kung nandyan siya.

How do you know if a person is Turkish ?

You know you're Turkish when:
★ You greet those older than you with kissing their hands,
★ You think kolonya (cologne) is the answer to all problems,
★ You can spot another Turk a mile off...and you find yourself saying to your mates "yeah they're Turkish" wherever you go even if the people you're pointing out aren't.
★ You can't resist buying pismaniye as you go pass Izmit,
★ You buy simit off the highway and nibble on it in your car,
★ You call an older person you've never met before "uncle", aunty" or abi,
★ You hide everything from your parents,
★ Your phone is always on silent,
★ Your relatives alone could populate a small city,
★ Everyone is a family friend, or somehow related to you,
★ You love kebabs, iskender and eating,
★ When you have a dinner party there is enough food to last for the next 2 months,
★ You fight over who pays the dinner bill,
★ You always say "open the light" instead of "turn the light on",
★ You ask your dad a simple question and he tells you story of how he had to walk miles to get to school,
★ Your mom seems to think her future lies at the bottom of a little coffee cup...

And finally You know you're Turkish when you think you're a part of the greatest nation on earth which is sooo true:)

...And yes I know I'm Turkish... :)
