Do Tn Child Labor Laws Apply To High School Graduates

How can I graduate early from high school?

Perhaps the most important issue to consider is - what do you want to do after you graduate. If you want to work, you may be too young for numerous jobs. If you want to go to college, consider in which colleges you’re interested, which major and what high school course work would help you for these majors.I graduated high school early, at the end of my junior year, because my situation at home was difficult. My parents were fighting, blamed it on me, and threatened to kick me out of the house. I offered to finish high school a year early, and leave in a few months. However, I really did not take course work that would have helped me in college (I attended Reed college, a tough school). In high school, I had time for only geometry, trig, and algebra 2, but not pre-calc, which I would have taken my senior year. If I’d had pre-calc (or better yet, HS calc - not offered then), it would have been very useful for my college courses. Also, I’d taken biology and chemistry, but not physics. Again, taking HS physics would have made my college course load easier.I did well in high school - in my junior year, I had the top scores, in my school of about 2,000 students, in both the math and English SAT tests, as well as a 5 on my English AP exam. (The only AP course offered at the time in my high school in California in 1969).If you can take courses at a nearby college, you may make friends there with whom you are more compatible. This could help you decide on a college major, and better prepare you for college studies.Good luck!

Can you go to one high school but play on another high schools sports team?

You can be Title IXd into a sport for the following reasons:Your school doesn’t offer the appropriately gendered team for you. You are legally allowed to play if you make the team. (ie, your school has men’s hockey, but you’re a strong female player)You attend a magnet school or homeschool that doesn’t offer your sport. My school didn’t offer cheerleading, so I cheered for another school. If your school doesn’t offer your sport, with consent of two principals, you can usually play for another school. That second school is typically your neighborhood high school. I know people who did that for swimming.

If your married with a baby can you drop out of high school at 16?

Yes you can. You can contact the school who I would hope is already aware of your situation. You can definitely continue the education process on your own terms at some point if you choose to. You can take classes online, you can pickup work and drop it off on your own schedule and ultimately take the G.E.D. test and get your diploma. It's pretty straightforward and it's never too late to do. Having a young child and a husband is a lot of work and you may just need some time to get through the first year or so while you get used to your new situation. It's nothing to be ashamed of and dropping out is not an indication of anything bad. The fact that you are asking this says to me that you are a thoughtful, smart young lady and you will do just fine. As far as actually 'dropping out' can be as simple as to just stop attending school. You can call them if you choose. But you don't even have to do that. Good luck and congratulations on your new arrival!

Estimated cost, per year, of homeschooling in Michigan?

You can spend very little, if need be. Check out the book Homeschooling on a Shoestring. Lots of ideas on how to do school with your child without buying a fancy curriculum. If you were going to be a sahm with your child in private school, you can DEFINITELY homeschool for less than private school costs (unless you happen to have a very cheap private school near you).

You don't have to pay to homeschool, just so you know. You have to purchase whatever you decide to use, but you don't have to pay otherwise. It's your legal right to educate your child at home.

Can a grandmother (who is not a legal guardian) homeschool her granddaughter?

TN should be pretty loose in their requirements. You will still have to be the one to sign all legal documents (I believe), but as far as I am aware, anyone can do the teaching. It would be wise to be involved in the curriculum, etc. That way if there are any questions you can still field them. But you can certainly get 'help' teaching, even if that help is doing 99% of the work.

As always, double-check the laws! http://www.hslda.org/laws/default.asp
