Do Turks Really Hate Kurds

What is the reason why turkish hate kurds?

http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index;...
In simple terms, not all Turks hate Kurds. They just don't like the radicals which try to pose harm to the country. There are civilized Kurds living within Turkey that are harmless, and the Turks get along with them very well. There are even singers/actors/actress' who are Kurds living and working in Turkey. So to say that Turks hate the Kurds is a bit too broad.

How do Turks feel about Kurds?

I’m a secualar Turk in his 40s living in Istanbul. When I was a child, “Kurd” was a dirty word in our household. Officially they didn’t exist. Unofficially, it was used as a derogatory word meaning ignorant and unsophisticated. Publishing books and music in Kurdish was forbidden by law. The only way for a Kurdish person to move forward in the world was to suppress his identity and assimilate into mainstream Turkish society. Then the PKK insurrection started and dragged on and on. Somewhere along the line, they became reckognized by the mainstream society, and steps were taken to officially reckognise them as a minority. The AKP government did the major part of these efforts. The ban on Kurdish was lifted, and Kurdish TV channels were opened in this period.I have come to get in touch with Kurdish people in my adult life as businessman. They are no different from us except for having a second language.

What contuires hate the Kurds?

I think southern Iraq. Northern Iraq is a part of Kurdistan. Two different kinds of Muslims, and more on the history. However this was before Saddam was taken out of power. Not sure how it is now.

What do Kurds think about Turks?

The Turks in Germany (those who are ethnic Turks and not Kurds, which are about an equally large group in Germany), left Turkey because Turkey’s secular governments in the mid-late twentieth century suppressed some stricter aspects of religious practice. The Kurds who migrated to Germany responded to the same push factor. This means that the most conservative Turkish and Kurdish families are the ones who emigrated into Germany. The result is that Turks in Germany are more likely to support the AKP and Erdogan than Turks in Turkey, and more likely to be hostile to Kurds for that reason. This is primarily visible in the older generations.German born Turks in Germany are significantly more liberal than their parents as a demographic, more likely to be secular, and less interested in Turkey’s ethnic conflicts.Kurds, Armenians, and other minority groups from Anatolia that live in Germany sometimes stage large demonstrations in favor of the PKK, which has a history of protecting those groups against Turkish governments. Those marches that are met by counter protests from Erdogan supporters, and tend to turn violent, injuring police and protesters.Similarly, when Erdogan/AKP supporters hold demonstrations, the other group shows up to counter protest, with the same result.

Turks who do you hate more. Greeks, Armenians or Kurds?

Personally I hate T words more.

Why does Turkey's President hate the Kurds so much?

I think the assumption of the question is wrong. Throughout his political career, Erdogan has been able to get almost half or at least third of total Kurdish votes. He is one of the rare non-Kurdish politicians who can do crowded rallies in Kurdish dominated south eastern Turkey.Kurds who prefer to vote for Erdogan are most likely not masochists. For some of them the Kurdish issue is a secondary issue, and the others truly believe Erdogan improved the life of Kurds in Turkey by:Allowing greater freedom for cultural rightsImproved economy and infrastructure in the regionNegotiating with PKK using peaceful diplomatic methods - This is not the case now, but it would be unfair to say he did not try. In fact, he has been often criticised by nationalists due to this strategy. Many believe this allowed PKK to organise inside the cities. Also, there have been many AKP MPs or ministers with Kurdish origin and AKP government has good relations with Iraqi Kurdistan. It would be wrong to simplify the conflict into a simple ethnic divide.

How come common Turks and Kurds in Turkey largely do not hate each other at all?

If I speak for myself: I do not hate Turkish people but the government is a different story. But for some Turks: I am going to link a very popular Turkish forum with 447 entries on the following title “To dislike the Kurds”.Eksi sözlük: kürtleri sevmemekP.s one of the entires that states this “The best Kurds is a dead Kurds” had hundreds of upvotes before it was deleted. I couldn’t get the image for it but here is a image criticising that specific entry:It translates as “People has right to not like each other but to express your dislike for Kurds as “The best Kurds is a dead Kurds” is biggest assholery””.It refreshing to see so many upvotes but that feeling disappears pretty quickly when one strolls through other entries and sees all the hate speeches.Edit: I see that I also fell victim to my own prejudice. The question was about “not hate” not “hate”. I guess, seeing so much conflicts recently it is hard to imagine questions about love than hate.Anyhow, I guess the majority of liberals “Haziran Hareketi”, ÖDP and most of Academics do not usually carry hatred towards the Kurds (understandably) similarly Kurdish social democrats, liberals and academics are too often free of racial hatred.

Greeks and Kurds?

Hello dear!
Masses are so easy to manipulate!
A moment the masses support something and next moment they are against it!
Around 1920, the Father of Turkey, Kemal, promised the Kurds a state if they would help to exterminate enemies, mainly Greeks, and they did a genocide! Since then, the Kurds have taken what is good to the followers:nothing!
Thus, although they are many millions, they don't have a state and everyone is against them!
As cpinatsi mentioned, Greeks having gone through so much trouble and genocides, support the ones who have be more depressed and wish justice to rein!
Greeks are not against anyone, but support some more than others, on specific issues and cases!
The people of Greece and Turkey and all regions have nothing to separate, the rulers have!
Greece has always been a large "hug" accepting all those who suffer in their countries and wish to excel, get a better future, achieve something! Greeks are giving part of their food to the needy, even from what they will take from themselves! This is not politics, it's Greek habit, for millenia!
Greeks always work on bringing on common table all people: Palestinians and Israelis, Turks - Kurds - Armenians - ..., Christians and Muslims, rich and poor, lucky and miserable! You see that in Greece and where Greeks are all the time!
Thus, Greeks are friends with the people of Turkey, regardless of their racial acceptance and beliefs!

Why are Turks and Kurds at odds with each other?

At it’s core the conflict between the Turks and Kurds is quite simple. How their conflict has developed has become quite complicated, but the core reason isn’t all that complicated. Most of Southeastern Turkey is inhabited by Kurds who are a distinct ethnic group found in the mountainous border region betweeen Turkey, Syria, Iraq, and Iran.Turkey views southeastern turkey as an integral part of Turkey and it’s inhabitants are Turks, so they should be assimilated into the greater fold of the rest of Turkey. Many of Northern Kurdistan’s (as it’s called by kurds) kurdish inhabitants would prefer to be independent or atleast autonomous from Turkey and have their culture respected and promoted, so they will not be forced to assimilate and become turkified. This is the core of the conflict. Everything else simply stems from Kurdish attempts at achieving independence or autonomy, and Turkey’s attempts at preventing kurdish independence and assimilating it’s kurdish population, in order to maintain control over what it views as it’s rightful territory.
