Do Washing Machines Have A Motion Sensor Linked To The Door Lock

What is the white rectangle thing on my wall that sometimes blinks red light?

hahahahaha... if you have an alarm in your place, that is the motion sensor.

Face it and stand perfectly still. It will be off. As soon as you move, it turns red.

Was I right???????????????

Even if you do NOT have an alarm, the sensor may still be there - just not hooked up to anything.

OR... it could be a camera.... I like what you are wearing... hehehehehehe

Ways to tell if someone is coming into your house when you're not there?

Maybe I'm getting paranoid, but I want to find out one way or another. Heres the story. I live in a house that has like 5 apts in it, I live in the one behind the house, and I park my car right in front of the door, and there's not much traffic coming around the back of the house. Anyways a couple of months ago I noticed that these tires that I had in the corner by my car were missing, someone obviously took them. I chalked it up to me being stupid for leaving them out there and tried to let it go. About a month ago I thought one or two things might've been missing from my freezer, but I couldn't be sure so I let it go. Last week I thought I noticed a few more things missing from my freezer and it was really starting to creep me out. Yesterday I was cleaning and I could swear a few of my dvd's are missing, but I can't be sure, maybe somehow I accidently threw them out. Then I come home today and my welcome mat is gone, it's outside my door not inside. Yesterday I tied pieces of thread in my doorways and they weren't disturbed when I came home, but I'm really starting to get creeped out that someone is coming in to my apartment, but the stuff missing is soo random, I mean I have a computer, a tv, a stereo, but no they would be taking frozen food from my freezer? I just want to make sure I'm not being paranoid, so any low tech tips on how to tell if someone is coming in would be great, thanks.

My washing machine sounds like a train on the spin cycle?

I have a GE washing machine. Model #WBXR1060T8WW. It sounds like a train when it goes into the spin cycle. I asked a question earlier about the damping straps breaking and forgot to mention this. Could this be the bearings gone bad? And if so you have to replace the whole motor on these, right?

Washing Machine Lock Switch Issue. I have a Maytag Centennial top load MVWC360AW0.?

There is a white plastic piece in the lid with two tiny silver piece that must make a connection, the male. There is a black plastic piece on the machine, the female. I was able to fit my hand above the basket, under the top side of the machine where that black piece is. I can feel the hole and stick my finger up to the outside of the machine, and there are a few wires.

It does seem like the pieces are not making the connection to let machine know the lid is closed and locked. HELP

How does home automation work?

Basically, the concept of home automation works by connecting smart devices and sensors (wired or wireless) to a system which act as the main control, and lastly to a graphical user interface for . Examples for smart devices/sensors are like humidity sensors, proximity sensors, brightness sensors, etc. that supports the relevant communication protocols (if required). While the control system may be represented by logic controllers (like PLC or similar devices) as well as SCADA and HMI to provide logical proccessing and graphical interface for end user's interaction. The basic working concept for home automation can be summarized as:Smart device such as brightness sensor installed in the house will detect the current environment's brightness. When the environment's brightness is lower than required set value, it will trigger the controller. The controller system will then identify the action needed (i.e. switch on the lights). The system will then trigger signal to the lights and switch them on.*Of course, user can always manually control the lights via the provided user interface also. (it can be either via PC screen, smartphone, TV, or even touch screen panel)

What do you think of home automation?

New technologies are constantly emerging to make life at home easier, more fun and more secure. While luxury and entertainment are options that will depend on the budget available, home automation that improves home security is something that should be treated as essential.   Integrating your home with your smart phone and having control of it from any part of the world is a big aspect of home automation. With just an app on your phone everything would be a click, touch, text or voice command away. From turning on your coffee maker, closing your garage door, to getting your clothes or dishes washed and dried; it can all be done through home automation.  Home automation is a great step towards the futuristic world and it is something that cannot be ignored. What is the use of proximity sensor in a phone and what is it?

Large Touch  screen displays consume a lot of power. Hence, it is wise to switch them off when not in use like when talking to someone/ when the phone is in the pocket. In both the cases, your phone is held near some object (like your ear or the wall of your pocket). In such cases, the proximity will generate a message to your phones processor telling it to switch off your screen.Android and IOS have an API for proximity sensor. So, you can also use it in your custom program. May be say a flash light that switches of if you put your phone in the pocket. As far as the hardware goes, I believe that the proximity sensor consists of a simple IR transmitter-receiver pair. The transmitter is an LED and emits infrared light. If you place an object close to the transmitter the light will bounce back. This light is picked up by the receiver. There are some other techniques that are used for proximity sensing like detecting the change in capacitance, inductance, magnetic field or even techniques like sonar. But, I doubt if they are used in cell phones.
