Do Women Have Falsetto

Why do men have to sing falsetto while women can just sing normal?

why do men have to use falsetto to sing high notes? Why don't women have to use falsetto? It's unfair that women can sing high notes and not men. Why can't gay men sing as high as women? I'm gay and I'm disappointed. Everytime I try to sing the highest female notes I have to use falsetto. Why can't we guys have as high voices as women???

Can women sing falsetto?

Heeeeck yes.For more info on a non-sex biased model of vocal range and registers, check out Scinguistics: Singing-Science and Linguistics and our Discord Server.By the way, I mostly agree with this video, but the best info I have found on this matter is by Duke University Voice Expert Leda Scearce.

What does it mean that women don't have falsetto?

Personally, I think it's a legend cause look at people like Aaliyah. She had one of the sweetest falsettos ever heard.

Do all guys have the ability to sing falsetto?

No, and I can literally verify that for you; yet, I wouldn't put you through the agony of hearing me sing that would just be cruel and unusual punishment. lol.

I think only particular individuals can accomplish that, I think lyrical adeptness is genetic moreso than learned.

I dont know how to do falsetto!?

Falsetto consists of using your diaphragm voice and your head voice. Chest voice is alright, but if you want the power, control, smoothness, and clarity, it is best to use the diaphragm. (Sorry if that's off topic). Now I think you've got the hang of using your head voice from what your description says. Always make sure to warm up before you sing, this not only protects your vocal chords but allows you to be able to hit those higher and lower notes easier and without voice cracks and such. You just need to keep practicing and develop the strength of your head voice. A lot of times when you hear recorded songs of singers using falsetto it is edited to make the head voice sound a little more powerful, so don't feel bad if it's not perfect like that.

What can I do to develop (fix) my falsetto voice?

Are you a woman? I think what you are referring to is indeed not a falsetto, but your inability to deal with that "break" in your voice. Women are not known to really be associated with a falsetto. Some women have what we call a "whistle tone" register, and all women have a HEAD VOICE. Physically, men and women are vocally different in more than just pitch. All of us have what I like to describe as a "gear shift" in the voice. When you vocalize, where does your voice break? You need a voice teacher to show you how to "shift" properly from the chest voice to the head voice. I won't dare give you advice on what you are doing wrong in your shift without hearing you.

The reason why it is scratchy is because you have the wrong focus on tone, and not enough breath support. Google the Alexander Technique, and learn how to breathe properly. I love their ideas on proper breath support. Also, try vocalizing, and as soon as you hear your voice "shift" or break, write down the name of the note. This will help you understand where you voice changes. Remember, that is NOT your falsetto. If you are trying to sing it falsetto, you are not singing from your head voice correctly. And if you are singing from your neck and moving your neck upwards to sing high notes, it will automatically sound scratchy. A voice teacher can definitely help you with that. Tell him/her where you think your voice shifts, and there are some techniques to help you with that. I worked on mine using half steps (note wise) right where my break was over and over again. It helped me tremendously. I could see that my notes flowed easier once I learned how to work with that shift. But my best advice is one on one contact with a GOOD voice teacher. Do you research, find out about his/her credentials, and you will know how to handle these "shifts". All the best!
