Do You Agree That Everything Has Its Opposite

Why does everything have an opposite?

It's not only quantum physics; it's physics in general. Systems in physics usually have conserved quantities. An example of a conserved quantity is energy: if you add 1 unit of energy, you need to subtract 1 unit of energy in order for the total amount of energy to remain the same.Another example is charge: the total charge in any system is conserved, so if you add one positively charged particle you better also add one negatively charged particle (or remove a positively charged one).Matter and antimatter are exactly the same. The number of matter particles minus the number of antimatter particles is conserved. So for each matter particle you add, you need to add a matching antimatter particle.

Does everything in the world have an opposite?

Yes. It makes the world a more interesting place.
Think of it this way - light needs dark. Everything has to balance.
Christians say their God created the world.
Christians who say there is no opposite to everything are deny the work of their God.
How disrespectful of their God is that?
And they complain about other people....

If everything has an opposite, what is the opposite of opposite?

i guess it would be the same. but what is the opposite of the same?

Everything in our universe has its opposite or equal such as day and night, male and female, hard and soft, light and darkness and so on. What is the opposite in space?

Not everything in the universe has an opposite, as some people have pointed out.But let's say we move along with your line of thought and try to figure out the opposite of space. We'll then need to find out what space is.In this context, we are considering two definitions of ‘space'Physical extent in all directions. The vacuum/near-vacuum of the region beyond earth's atmosphere which extends out into the universe. To the first definition of space, the ‘opposite’ would be nothingness. Everything exists in space so if no space exists, we have nothing. Nothing. Zilch. Nada.To the second definition, we assume that the vacuum is a perfect one, devoid of anything with mass - not even plasma should exist in it. To this one, the opposite would be the presence of something with mass - matter and antimatter. On the one hand, we have an opposite to be Nothingness; on the other hand, we have the opposite to be “somethingness”.

Does EVERYTHING have an opposite / contrast?

If you think about it things have an opposite and a contrast, it that always the case?

(Excluding material things / consumer goods obviously!)

*Sad / Happy *Light / Dark *Life / Death *Young / Old *Heaven / Hell *Good / Bad etc

Do "we" need this contrast? Most people live in the middle, within a shade of "grey"... so why are there such extremes?

Do you agree that true love has no opposite?

You cannot love your partner one moment and attack him and her the next? If your love has an opposite, then its not love but a strong ego need for a more complete and deeper sense of self???

Does everything have an opposite? Do you think that the true forms or beings have an opposite? Do you agree with the following, “Truth doesn't have an opposite”?

I believe in multiple perspectives rather than opposites. The concept of opposites are great for basic everyday communication. Is it wet or is it dry? Seemingly opposite concepts, but when put into practice, this isn’t always so. Take hot cloths out of the dryer, they seemed to feel dry, but when they cooled, they still had dampness in them. So for a more accurate depiction, you need to ask what is the specific humidity level, or moisture content of a given item? Well we don’t all run around with a scientific instrument for measuring that. Plus, you have to take into account, where you live.I live on the West Coast in a temperate rain forest. The average day in the winter is sitting at 85% humidity level. That’s about as dry as it gets when you’re not sitting in front of a running wood stove. In Arizona, a piece of clothing with 85% humidity content would feel wet to someone who has never experienced my daily lifestyle. The concepts of opposites, and seeing things in life as black or white, is great for non important everyday conversations, for brevity of thought when fast actions are required, and raising small children who do not have the brain capacity to comprehend complex nuances of thought. For the thoughtful adult who wants to know more and understand more, you have to concede, in all things there is some level of grey. That in reality White is all colours in balance, not a colour unto itself, and black is the absence of reflected colour, and also not a colour either.

I believe everything has an opposite and equal reaction not just in physics. Do you?

I think that is partially correct, but not entirely. Just about every action (verbal or physical) results in a reaction. It's kind of in our nature to react to people and things because that's how we're still around, reaction. However, you believe there is an opposite reaction. While in some cases this is certainly true, it is oftentimes not. Take saying hi to someone for example. An equal reaction would be to say hi back, or something to the same effect. An equal and opposite reaction however, would be saying bye, or something similar. With that said, it really is perspective, and how you choose to interpret things. We may have completely different views on the world.Have a great day!

Philosophically speaking, does EVERYTHING have an opposite?

Truly great question for some deep philosophical thinking!!

Opposites are for attributes..... unless there can be something that has no attribute whatsoever, it is always possible to find something having an opposite attribute. The reality is that a thing can have multiple attributes and for each of them, there can be an opposite. Zero attribute is no reality.

Having said that, I would like to further point out that a thing can not possibly have an exact opposite since it is not possible to have another thing that has the opposite of each and every attribute that the thing has. This idea can be better understood by the observed fact that any two things in the Universe do have some similarities as well as some differences, since no two things can be absolutely identical in all respects, not even two tiny leaves on the same branch!

Finally, it can be argued that there is this one thing that can have no opposite which is the 'complete totality' of everything put together, since there is nothing else then to be its opposite, but then 'nothing at all' is an opposite of all encompassing 'everything'!! ( the catch here is that this 'nothing at all' actually is non-existent in reality and it is merely a concept).
