Do You Agree That Students Who Live In Rural Area Do Better In School

Do high school students in America still ride school buses?

Some do. It depends on where you live.

I teach in NYC. I'm also a parent of 2 teenagers. In NYC, most kids take the subway to school. If they live more than a certain distance from school, they're given a student metrocard (that's a fare card to use on the mass transit system here.) with that student metrocard they can take a subway or a city bus to school for free.

There are some yellow school buses for kids who live in parts of the city that are not well served by the mass transit system, but they are mostly for elementary and middle school, not high school. Disabled kids get transportation in a yellow bus, regardless of age.

It's different in the suburbs. There a kid can ride a yellow bus till the end of high school.

So as you can see, it depends on where you live.

Teens:Are inner city schools bad or are rural schools are?

And sorry i've been watching a lot of Lifetime today and well i think that Inner City Schools are bad i mean there's teens having sex and doing drugs there while in my opionion rural schools are better because of the church influence and in the cities you don't have that much influence, and plus you know we try to prevent that kinda of stuff.

Are schools still essentially segregated?

This is a complex subject, racially segregated areas exist for many reasons. In recent years there has been a trend toward segregation as a choice for better schooling. Many schools, while not technically segregated, still teach versions of history that include predominately white figures, narratives and values. Some educators are pushing for a more comprehensive examination of history, one that includes varying accounts of past events and their causes and protagonists. Some schools in LA and other large urban areas now offer African-American history, Latino studies and courses in US racial history in an effort to combat the racism pervasive in our schools and curriculum.

Of course, segregation is not always a reflection of agency. While some schools are segregated to pursue social justice and provide a better education for students of color, some schools are segregated due to lack of funding or resources. Often times systemic racism leads to socio-economic repercussions, creating areas that have been deserted by more financially mobile white people and the attention they demand. These schools provide examples of how our public education system is failing our children. Students are often expected to study in environments where they fear for their safety or lack resources such as computers or textbooks. For more information on this sort of segregation and the social implications it carries, check out Jonathan Kozol's book, Savage Inequalities.

Litter duty at school?

i think i had to do that once when i was a kid. i think it's fair. at least it's productive. better than sitting in a corner by yourself. it's the same thing they make chaingangs do on the highways. litter duty is probably less humiliating than having to stand with your nose to wall until further notice.

Are people from city areas smarter than people from rural areas?

Put a rural person in a city and see them look stupid. Put a city kid in a rural area and look at the dummy. It is relative, though some people are fine in both (and some not fine in either).Where you live doesn’t make you smart or dumb, but unfortunately many people think intelligence is the same as your school performance and cities have “better” schools. But it’s not necessarily so. Some people are intelligent when it comes to animals, some people have an intelligence when it comes to their bodies, some people have an intelligence for beauty, some people have an intelligence for kids, some people have an intelligence for plants etc. It is all about how you use what you have. A lot of people with high IQ’s and a lot of people with low IQ’s know to waste their time the same.
