Do You Agree With The Following Quote Or Is The Identity Of The Person Saying It More Important

What's a good quote about identity or lack thereof?

Be yourself, everyone else is taken.

Do you agree with the following quote? Or is the identity of the person saying it more important?

I agree with this statement. Other statements made by the person making this statement proves he HATES homosexuals, though. He has made many dishonest claims against them and their lifestyle. That's why he is being criticized by others now.

Conservatives are believing in one of these huge lies. They think liberals' criticism of Robertson's gay-bashing is a manifestation of fear or hate for Christians in general. That's not true. Conservatives are doing what they accuse liberals of doing.

Do you agree with the saying “Show me who your friends are, and I’ll tell you who you are”?

Do you agree with the saying "Show me who your friends are and I’ll tell you who you are?"Yes.Your current friends are a reflection of you, and are 100% your choice.  A friend is someone you chose to spend time and associate with.  The people you choose to be around shape your personality, the way you think, the way you speak,  and the way you perceive the world.Whether we are aware of it or not, the people we choose to pay attention to and consider friends frame our reality. They are a barometer of what is normal, what is possible."Show me your friends and I'll show you your future"  -Dan Pena"You"re Only As Good As The Company You Keep"It is difficult to learn to play basketball if you spend your days with a soccer team. The truth is, your choice of friends reflect the person you are today, and will in turn affect the person you will become tomorrow.

How is mother tongue important?

Speaking purely for myself: My mother tongue is not recognised as a proper language. It is merely a dialect. It is spoken in some limited pockets in a particular State in South India. Nearly the entire population that spoke this dialect has emigrated to other parts of the country and the world. This dialect uses words from the two recognized full fledged and highly developed languages of   two adjacent states in South India and the script of one language  is used to write it.  No school teaches this dialect . It is not the medium of instruction in any school. There are no text books. There is no recognized literature in the language. For literature  we read either of these languages it resembles (and some read both) Most of us depend on English as our preferred language for reading high quality literature. Those of us who are eager to have a regional identity, choose one of these states to "belong to".I learned this dialect at the lap of my mother who is now no more. I use it to speak only  to my wife and children  and close relatives in my age group who share my linguistic background. But the language fails me often  and I have to switch to  words and phrases from other recognised languages including English to communicate effectively. This language has no commercial importance. The only advantage is that it has enabled us to be familiar with and speak the two recognized major languages it is based on and become bilingual outside our homes. By learning this dialect, you unwittingly learn two languages. It is merely of sentimental value for me now.The dialect I am talking about is Paalakaad Tamil spoken by the Iyers of Kerala. The two major regional languages I have mentioned are Tamil and Malayalam.GV

Why is it important to know about our past history?

The study of history is important because it can tell us how we evolved. It can tell us what decisons worked in particular situations in the past and what didn't. This can be useful when taking decisions today in similar situations. We can also take inspirations from certain events to motivate us. For example, The Battle of Thermopylae, The Battle of Longewala, The Battle of Saragarhi. These events tell us how a few stood against many. They can serve as inspirations for people who find themselves outnumbered by their opponents (be it anywhere). Also studying why Empires collapsed may give us insights into how to efficiently run our countries. If the Germans had taken lessons from history, then during World War 2, they wouldn't have fought in Russia during the winter, like Napoleon did. Thus, the main reason behind why we should study History is to ensure that we don't repeat the same mistakes as our forefathers when History repeats itself.
