Do You Believe That Peta Is A Group Of People Who Are Delusional

Do you support PETA, or do you think they are delusional?

I was watching an old episode of Friday the 13th: The Series (it has nothing to do with Jason Voorhees), and one of the characters says at the end of the episode, "If, of all the truths you choose one and follow it blindly, that truth becomes a lie and you become a fanatic.", and that's what I think of PETA.

It's one thing to say "Be nice to animals", but it's another to rename fish 'sea-kittens' so that people will think they're too cute to eat. Or for college students do drink beer instead of milk, or renaming a town (Fishkill, New York and Rodeo, California) because they found the name offensive. I think when they do that they damage their reputation and distracts people from the main message of 'Be nice to animals'.

Thank you very much for your time.

Ummmmm, oranges, because they're sweeter.

Why do poor people buy expensive clothes/accessories?

I blame capitalism. Capitalism drives consumers to feel the need to purchase their products even if their products are not really needed. How do they drive their consumers? Through some of the most influential tools known to humanity - television, radio, the internet, newspapers, magazines, etc. What this creates is an image of their product that even if one may not have enough to afford it, one will be willing to buy it. A perfect example is the slogan for Nike - just do it. Yes, you can buy a cheaper shoe, but will you be able to jump as high as Michael Jordan without the Nike? Of course you can, but your mind is already set on purchasing the Nike.

Believe me, I've even seen the effects of capitalism in third world countries. It is really sad to see people pay $100 for a pair of Nike when they can't even afford to go to the hospital for an illness. Its even sadder when you realize those same pair of shoes they are buying are been manufactured in their countries at a labor rate of $1.00 an hour if they are lucky. Still, people are so consumed by the image of the Nike that they will overlook all those facts.

How do you pronounce pedophile?

Is it pronounced pee-doe-file,
or ped-doe-file
Where I live, (Pennsylvania) I've always heard it pronounces ped-doe-phile. But on Xbox live, I hear it pronounces pee-doe-phile, but these are usually British people who say it that way. Is it just a British thing, because I know they do pronounce their words differently? Or have I been saying it incorrectly all along? (I'm not from Britain?)

How do you feel when religious people confuse you with the more militant anti-theists and ascribe to you anti-theist positions, such as "religious people are mentally ill"?

Q. How do you feel when religious people confuse you with the more militant anti-theists and ascribe to you anti-theist positions, such as "religious people are mentally ill"? I have been rightly criticized by some atheists for confusing them with anti-theists, much like some anti-theists confuse all Christians with the members of the Westboro Baptist Church cult. I apologize to those atheists I have mischaracterized.I am atheist. All that tells you is that I have no belief in any god or gods.I am also anti-theism. Please note the M on the end of the word. That means I dislike religion. I think it is superstition based on ancient folklore that has outlived its usefulness.I am not anti-theist. This time please note there's a T on the end of the word. I think theists are wrong, but I don't dislike them for that. I do dislike them if they get in my face about their religion, tell me I have no morals, that my life is meaningless, or that their god is gonna get me. But that's actually much more about them being rude jerks than it is about their being theists. (We have about the same percentage of rude jerks on the A-Team, but since theists outnumber us, yours make more noise than ours.)I do not think theists are mentally ill. I do think they have been deluded by the advocates for their religion into believing something that just isn't so -- or, if you prefer, something that cannot be proven to be true. I blame that on religion. It's one of the many reasons I am strongly anti-theism, while I still try to be tolerant of theists. How do I feel when religious people assume I'm a militant anti-theist based on nothing more than that I am a declared atheist? I think such people are ignorant about atheism, and are probably not the brightest representatives of their faith. And it doesn't take much dialogue to determine if that is true, and only a little more to determine if they have fallen into the rude jerks category.btw, any atheist who claims theists are mentally ill is ignorant and being a rude jerk. Here on Quora you can report him for a violation of BNBR.Answer shared to The Best of Barry, a blog I created to store answers that might be appropriate for a book I'm trying to write, so they can be easily retrieved.

Eating meat in front of vegan PETA advocate rude?

I myself am a meat eater, though I have a few friends who are vegetarian/vegan. One of whom is active in the vegan community. The general consensus amongst most of them seems to be that it is silly to get mad at someone for eating meat, the idea being it's their choice, not yours. I also feel the same way. I try to accommodate my friends by taking them places they can eat (I wouldn't take them to a burger joint, you know?) but they know I'm going to eat meat because I like it, and they generally don't care. I'd say most vegetarians/vegans have eaten meat in their life and understand that it's not a decision for everyone because let's face it: meat tastes awesome!

On the other side, I've had one experience with a vegetarian who would get very upset when others ate meat and make a big deal about it. Let's just say she doesn't get asked out to lunch anymore.

Your friend did a good job making you feel guilty (which sadly, is how a lot of well-meaning organizations gain members), but it was her that was acting rude. You were not imposing your lifestyle on her, but she was trying to impose hers on you.

What does PETA spend all of its money on?

PETA is a sham. It purports to show with breast beating sanctimonious ‘holier than thou’ pride the abuses of factory farms and corporate America but it is all a façade, and according to Will Coggin in reality PETA runs a “slaughterhouse not a shelter”.The facts:In 2016 with total revenues of $67 million, PETA spent $16 million on ‘Research, Investigations, and Rescue. This means that for direct animal services PETA spent less than 25% of its total budget. When given a chance, two PETA workers, Victoria Carey and Jennifer Wood, stole a Chihuahua that belonged to the daughter of Wilber Zarate, and killed it, without notifying the family or observing the legal 5 day waiting period.“PETA’s Norfolk shelter killed nearly 75% of animals it took in last year” and placed just 7 for adoption. The“The animal rights group that touts responsible pet adoption and veganism euthanized a total of 2,324 dogs and cats at their facility in Norfolk last year, representing 88 percent of all pets PETA rescued, the CCF said.“This delusional animal rights group is talking out of both sides of its mouth — on one side preaching animal rights, while on the other signing a death warrant for 88 percent of cats and dogs in its care,” Will Coggin, director of research at CCF, said in a statement. “PETA should be called a slaughterhouse, not an animal shelter.”The report said 33,514 animals have died since 1998 at the hands of PETA. The kill numbers come from the Virginia Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services (VDACS), which requires annual disclosures. A 2010 inspection conducted by a VDACS revealed that 84 percent of the animals PETA took in were killed within 24 hours, the CCF said.Only 1.5 percent of dogs and cats reportedly found a permanent home outside of the shelter.“PETA’s so-called ‘shelter’ might as well be called a slaughterhouse,” Mr. Coggin added. “For an organization that once disgustingly compared the treatment of farm animals to the Holocaust, you’d think PETA would avoid the appearance of systematic killing. It’s time Virginia stopped the madness and shuttered PETA’s shelter of horrors for good.”http://www.washingtontimes.com/n...Instead of giving money to PETA…support your local SPCA and Humane Society who actually care about the animals they rescue!

Why do people have a problem with animal rights activists?

Before you answer, I'm referring to the ones who NEVER hurt people.

Just the ones who break into bad places (like factory farms, mink farms and puppy mills) and save the animals by setting them free or rescuing and caring for them. Why would anyone have a problem with such brave, compassionate people? I consider them heroes. They fight for those without a voice, without a choice. And for that I think they should be honored, not hated.

Sure, they break laws. Grafitti their name on the walls of the corrupt place (ALF, PETA, etc)...who cares? These places need to know what they're doing is wrong and need to be made examples of. Factory farms are soulless, money-making machines that don't give two $h!ts about animal welfare. They are disgusting and anyone who stands up against them should be rewarded. Justice trumps corrupt laws, everytime, IMO. What say you guys?

Is PETA planning to stop Happy Tree friends?

I heard from somewhere that PETA doesn't like the show at all and tried too get it off the air or something.... i want them too..some people think that stuff is funny..seeing cute little cartoon animals be Tortured Oh so graphically.. i find it horrible.. when i first saw this episode about a little beaver with no hands trying to change a light bulb and slipping and by falling on the shattered broken pieces of glass on the floor and then getting he's head stuck in a fish bowl and browning while blood went in the water from he's wounds and he had to pound he's head numerous times very hardly on something, but b4 the glass fish bowl broke he drowned! i cried.. i don't understand why people laugh at it..if children see this stuff it could lead to adults in the near future having violent/mental problems or might develop abusive behavior towards animals.. i just plainly hate that show and i don't find it any way "FUNNY" but still i was wondering if PETA was going too take the show off anytime soon...
