Do You Guys Want To Start A Section War

Why do guys like star wars so much?

Star Wars is an example of what the late Joseph Campbell, professor of mythology at Sarah Lawrence College, called the "Monomyth," just like Homer's "The Odyssey" or "The Legend of King Arthur." It's not really the setting or even the fact that it's a big budget movie that makes Star Wars so enduring, but it's the way in which it speaks to something inherent in the human psyche.

There are certain elements in the Star Wars story that follow the "Monomyth" exactly:
*A call to adventure (which the hero has to accept or decline)
*A road of trials (during which the hero succeeds or fails)
*Achieving the goal or "boon" (which often results in important self-knowledge)
*A return to the ordinary world (again as to which the hero can succeed or fail)
*Applying the boon (in which what the hero has gained can be used to improve the world)

You’ll find these same elements in stories from all over the world, going all the way back throughout human history, including the stories of Moses, Buddha, and Jesus.

It his book, “The Hero with a Thousand Faces” (1949), Campbell wrote:
“A hero ventures forth from the world of common day into a region of supernatural wonder: fabulous forces are there encountered and a decisive victory is won: the hero comes back from this mysterious adventure with the power to bestow boons on his fellow man.”

That’s what makes Star Wars so appealing.
And by the way, I hate most science fiction =)

Why is it only men who start wars?

Golda Meir would have started the Yom Kippur war had Henry Kissinger not talked her out of it.

Do you think guys like Han and Lando stand a chance in Star Wars? Why or why not?

Though the original film was an underdogs prevailing’ film, the two sides were depicted as very black & white quite early on in Star Wars. With a jedi & rebel good guys on one side and the overwhelming empire led by the evil Sith on the other, characters like Han & Lando worked well because they fitted somewhere inbetween those two extremes…due to their chequered backgrounds.Nowadays Han is dead & the resistance is all but wiped out, though I would expect to see Lando & few old faces in Episode IX at Leia's funeral. What would really impress me would be if Kylo Ren turns up at that funeral too, yet does not start any trouble…just lords into the enemys base alone, says a few words to his deceased mother then leaves. It would show he is not 100% evil, he can control himself when needed and that he has grown up a lot since we last saw him…which in turn would make him a more respectable villain & also quite similar to his grandfather idol Vader, who was/is arguably one of the best film bad guys of all time.

If China wants war with India, what is stopping it from having a war?

Common sense. China is a superpower in this part of the world. And the only country even come close to it is India. You guys must know that the area which is creating war like situation among two nuclear power is not owned by any of the countries. Funny isn't it??The point is India had a treaty with Bhutan to defend it specially in those areas which affects India directly. For the fact disputed are is part of Bhutan. China wants to built a road there and India don't want to let them because if China can built road there than Indian army will be in great disadvantage. Now about the war. Nobody wins in a nuclear war. The losing country will use it as a last resort. World war 3 will happen and it will erase the human population.I m tired and don't want to write anymore. If you didn't get the true picture yet, then you never will.India and China please don't behave like morons, be friend and make life memorable for your citizens.

How can I offend someone? So I just got in a flame war with some guy on the Internet, I don't really want to win the flame war, I just want to keep him occupied. What is something that can really personally offend someone?

Say this "You're right. I guess it was foolish of me to participate in an idiocracy match with a master of the art."

Do you guys think we need a second Civil War to overthrow the dictatorship of Donald Trump?

Are you being sarcastic? Because if not, if you are serious then you have no idea what a dictatorship is like. What’s it like to be in fear of your and your loved one’s lives.Donald Trump’s presidential orders are halted, attacked, brought to courts etc.In a dictatorship this does not happen. In a dictatorship you make a comment like this and a black car with armed agents arrive, kick down your door and drag you to the car, throw in it and then you either get executed in a basement or disappear in a very deep labyrinth of prisons, camps and interrogation rooms. Perhaps along with your family.Donald Trump is, at best, a radical politician whose orders are easily blocked if needed. He will not have you killed. He will go to court and try to defend his case.In a dictatorship the only checks and balances are the spouse and the closest advisors to the leader.

World War III is about to start and it'll go nuclear, how do you survive?

Since I live in New Zealand, I carry on with my life as normal. I may stockpile some imported goods such as torch batteries or Belgian chocolates. I read somewhere that strontium pills can pre-emptively prevent the uptake of radioactive strontium isotopes that might be found in radioactive fallout. I’d check out the availability of those too. Nuclear winter is an ugly possibility, but ice ages haven’t affected this part of the world much in the past. Anyway, Northern Hemisphere industry is screwing with the global climate already – if you guys want to commit mass suicide it may actually be a relief for the rest of us.Frankly, there’s almost nothing in New Zealand of sufficient strategic importance to justify the expense of a nuclear attack. Our armed forces are designed to operate in support of our allies, rather than for offensive war initiated by us. We are beyond the range of missiles developed by northern hemisphere powers. Fractional orbital bombardment weapons have been postulated (for “sneak attacks”) but are ludicrously expensive compared to other nuclear weapons and appear not to have been deployed. We do have a satellite monitoring base at the top of the South Island that’s part of the “Five Eyes” (America, Canada, Britain, Australia and New Zealand) spy network and might be a strategic target, but if the first three “eyes” had been nuked the Australian and New Zealand components would be completely irrelevant. It’s conceivable someone might park a missile submarine in the middle of the Tasman to bombard New Zealand, and Australia’s west coast. An Ohio-class boat carries 24 missiles with eight warheads each. 192 warheads, in volleys of eight. There certainly aren’t eight nuke-worthy targets in New Zealand, and neither are there 184 suitable targets in Australia.Honestly, only a complete idiot would drop a bomb on Auckland that could otherwise be dropped on Denver or Sverdlovsk or Guangzhou.Of course there is one particularly well-known idiot who has announced that he thinks restrictions on intermediate range nuclear missiles are a “really terrible” deal for the United States. But with any luck nature will soon rescue us from that bloated buffoon…

People wanted war. Now that one pilot has been captured by pak. Do you feel what war feels like? You guys wanted war by resting in bed, what about him and his family?

I am a Pakistani and I believe that people generally are peaceful be it India or Pakistan. They don’t want war. The want peace, prosperity and happiness. But, it is politicians who use their sentiments for their personal benefit. In this case, Modi attempted to wage a short war with the help of right-winged jingoistic Indian media, which created a war hysteria in India and built up opinion to teach Pakistan a bitter lesson. The objective, obviously, was to become a hero and win the upcoming elections in India. The extremist Hindutva followers created a perfect atmosphere not thinking that starting a war is easier but finishing it is difficult. But there is no one to listen to the voice of reason and sanity in India.Modi and his henchman decided to attack Pakistan that failed to bring any result. It was celebrated by the cacophonic India media as a victory. This is where India miscalculated resolve of Pakistan to defend itself. Pakistan responded with responsibility and showed the might of its air force. The result is eye-opening.Imran Khan is talking very sensibly and offering olive branch to India. I hope recent response of Pakistan will break the arrogance of Modi and his extremist inner circle. We believe that this military conflict will either make or break Modi’s election campaign. In my personal opinion, it is going to create problem for Modi.Note: Pakistan is treating Indian pilot with kindness and in accordance with the guidelines of Geneva Convention.
