Do You Have To Take The Normal Grade 12 Course To Take Ap

AP US HISTORY IN 9TH GRADE?

Hi,

I would ask your current social studies teacher or history teacher of what he thinks you should because he knows you more than we at Yahoo Community do. However, if you feel as if you can handle it, you should take it. AP U.S History is very difficult but at the same time easy if you study well, take good notes, review your notes accurately, remember different times, and remembering names if you have good memory. I'm currently in AP U.S History and I was in the exact same position you were in 8th grade. I decided to take it and I'm managing a 97% average in U.S History which is good. However, if history is not your subject, then I wouldn't advise taking it. It's better to take things slower pace than to rush and have loaded more assignments.

High School is difficult, you won't always have a 4.0 GPA since middle school and high school are different and high school is harder, so don't stress yourself over it. If you wanna go to a good school, maintain at least a B average or above. Most students strive for a 4.0 GPA and they complain that the courses are difficult and they start going down hill on their grades and that's not good so always be positive.

The assignments very from teacher by teacher to be quite honest. If you have a difficult U.S History teacher, she/he will assign you a ton of book work, and give you assignments and expect it to be completed on time.

The assignments are difficult if you don't study or don't pay attention in class. You can always look information from different sources and make sure their up to date and accurate.

Also, the length of the assignments vary from teachers as well as they may assign you 5 pages of homework, and some 1-2 pages. I spend about 30 minutes - 60 minutes [1 hour] a day studying as I have a difficult teacher and her tests/quizzes/exams make you think critically.

The homework may include: worksheets, book work such as finding information and key factors and answering questions, or just putting things in the correct order. (Again, it varies from teacher to teacher).

If you still don't know if you should take it, ask your guidance counselor to see your progress and your teacher/instructor.

What grade are you supposed to take Pre-Calculus?

At my school, when in regular math, you take Algebra I in 9th grade, Geometry in 10th, Algebra II in 11th, and pre-calculus in 12th. Did you do very well in geometry? If so they probably skipped you ahead because you did so well, but they put you back in regular math because you weren't doing the best in the pre-calculus. Which is fine!

What are typical classes to take in 12th grade?

It depends on what type of school you are looking to get into. If you want to get into a difficult school and/or want to receive more AP credit, you typically take APs and Honors level classes. I am looking for AP credit that is only offered through senior year and I am looking at competitive colleges so this is my schedule..AP StatisticsAP Calculus BCAP PhysicsAP EnlgishAP MicroEconomicsLatin year 2Science Research Year 3Public Speaking (Elective)PE (Mandatory)These challenging courses show difficult colleges that you are continuing to challenge yourself and not falling into the trap of the “senior slide”. If you are applying regular decision, typically first quarter and 5 week grades of second quarter will be sent to these colleges. If you are more relaxed and are confident you are getting into a particular school, you can enjoy your senior year and take fun electives and easy courses. I want to stress that taking easier classes and doing well in them is much better than taking APs and doing very poorly in them and thus hurting your GPA. Don’t do the same mistake I did, I ended up learning that the hard way.

How different are AP courses from regular regents classes or Honors?

It depends on the teacher, it really does. But, if you do get a good teacher, it will be very different from regular courses. Freshman year I never planned on taking an AP class, but I had a change of heart sophomore year and took AP World History. I had an amazing teacher who truly changed my life (I know that sounds cheesy). So I just finished junior year and took five AP classes. I passed all my exams, and got 5's on lang and history. AP looks good on college apps, and even if you don't get the best teacher in the world, regular and honors courses just don't appear as challenging to admissions offices. Plus, you have the chance to get college credit. if I get into the colleges I've picked out, I'll have $30,000 of credit already. No joke. I'm not a super smart person, but AP classes made me a better writer, worker, and overall, a better person. Stick to them. if it's hard at first, don't give up. It will pay off if you give it your all.

Is there a point in taking AP classes in the 12th grade?

I want to let you in on a little secret. You can't tell anyone okay? *lowers voice*The point of high school isn't to get into college.*dramatic gasp* Yes, it's true. The point of high school is not to get into college; the point is to learn. Don't worry about grades or SAT scores or getting into the 13th best college according to some stupid ranking criteria. That's all just bogus stuff. Instead, take this time to explore your interests, challenge yourself, broaden your horizons, and figure out what you want to do in life.Taking AP classes is a good way to do that. They provide you with a decent introduction into a subject and can give you credit at some institutions for doing well. They also tend to be more interesting than non-AP classes, and will still further your intellectual development.Unless you have something much better to do with your time (research, train to become a professional athlete, working, starting a company, etc.) I would highly recommend you take advanced classes when possible.P.S. Colleges still see what classes you take senior year. They still see your grades for first semester and know what you'll be taking second semester. Your course selection absolutely is taken into account.

My friend wants to get out of an AP class into a normal math class. What are some excuses to get out of it?

When I took my first AP class I felt extremely overwhelmed. However, I now have college credit because I earned a 4 on the AP test. My grade in the actual class was an B, which for GPA counts as an A. So if your grade is decent, stick with it.There is a point though, where you can decide to drop out of the AP class. If you are earning F’s or D’s, where in the regular class you’d be getting A’s or B’s, then it’s worth it to talk to your counselor and drop out. There’s no shame in dropping out of an AP class.

Should I take AP Chemistry after taking a regular Chem course?

Maybe. I think it depends on a number of factors. For example, is AP Chemistry well-taught in your high school? Find out how well students scored on AP exams. Another important question — are you planning on either pre-med or being a chemistry major in college? If so, then if you score well enough on the AP exam to get credit for college chemistry courses, those courses will likely not count towards your college program (you’ll end up taking other required “Intro to Chemistry” classes). By the way, the same thing happens with AP Physics and college physics majors. So don’t shy away from AP Chemistry because it’s challenging — but think about where it’s leading you.

In what order would you take the AP science classes?

A pathway for an AP student highly interested in majoring in medicine or any science related fields would generally look like:9th grade: Biology or H10th grade: Chemistry or H11th grade: AP Biology or AP Chemistry12th grade: AP Chemistry or AP BiologyIf a student is interested in majoring in engineering, computer science, or anything related with math. Typically, the route would look like:9th grade: Physics10th grade: AP Physics 1summer of 10th/11th grade: dual enrollment in Biology(if necessary to graduate)11th grade: AP Physics 212th grade: AP Physics CTypically, a normal route for every high school student in the U.S would look like:9th grade: Biology10th grade: Physics11th grade: Chemistry12th grade: If not interested in any of the subjects I listed below, students would take Forensic Science or Physiology. In all seriousness, please don’t overload your schedule with AP Classes.

Is the IB diploma program something you take in 11th & 12th grade as extra courses, or...?

The !B(International Barrculate) is something you do when you get towards university(which is 11th and 12th grade as its a 2 year course). The IB progam are advanced courses that you take in the school progam. Think of the IB as the AP(Advanced Placement) and you will know what it is.
