Do You [have To] Turn These On Separately

Is there a way to adjust the volume of headphones separately from adjusting the volume on the audio/video receiver?

I have a terrible time hearing the dialogue while watching TV unless I use headphones. But when I plug the jack into the audio/video receiver, the sound goes mute and my wife cannot listen. Is there a way to separately control the volume of the headphones and TV speakers? I have a five year old Denon A/V receiver.

Laundry: If I wash my whites and colors separately, but dry them together, will the colors mesh into one another? Or will the whites stay white?

As everyone has said there is a chance of bleeding and there are things to consider such as age of garments and material used. I am a laundry pro in my opinion, I've yet to find a stain I can't defeat. I will give you and anyone else reading this some tips my mother gave me: black and red are the worst bleeders so to keep your colors deep soak your items in cold salt water overnight before you wash them. It will help seal in the color. When I sort my clothes I do darks, brights and whites the world isn't black and white; neither is your laundry and when in doubt hand wash.

Do you separate your clothes by color before you wash them?

Absolutely! This is how my own mother taught me when I was in elementary school. I was then taught this again in Home Economis in middle school.I know it is not my concern how someone else does laundry but when I observe a person just throwing clothes in a washer without sorting by colors it makes me crazy! I have to look away! lol (This really does make for dingy colored clothes with time.) I see this happen at the laundromat I go to and use triple loading macines to wash my comforters in.I also separate out towels and delicate fabrics and wash them separately as well.I have found that a little care and concern when it comes to good laundry habits really can lengthen the life of garments thus saving me money in the long run.Bethany

Can we separate hydrogen and oxygen from water and use them as fuel?

ABSOLUTELY! As everybody has said, it’s called electrolysis, using electricity.EVERY nuclear-powered submarine in the world built in the last 40 years uses it ROUTINELY to make oxygen to replenish the air while submerged. The equipment used is called an Oxygen Generator. (In the US. I have no idea what the other navies call theirs. Maybe some other reader knows and will comment.)Notice I said “nuclear-powered”? That’s because it takes electricity. A LOT of electricity! Only nuclear power makes this feasible. If a non-nuclear submarine has the equipment, they would probably only use it while using a diesel engine. Any other time would be a foolish waste of battery-power.A US Oxygen Generator, with the maintenance covers removed. If you’re thinking about using this method to produce a low-carbon fuel, it takes a lot more power to make, than you would get by burning it. The only exception to this would be if the power was initially obtained without using a carbon-based fuel. Economically, solar and wind power would not be useful. Nuclear power would, and if all of the oil, gas and coal power plants were replaced with nukes, using hydrogen to power cars and trucks would be feasible.

Why do my hazard lights work, but not my turn signals?

Hazard lights and turn signals use the same bulb, so it is not the bulb, the lamp, or the cables to them. Turn signals only work when the ignition is on; hazard lights work whether the ignition is on or not. The two systems have separate power supplies, so they have separate fuses. You may have a blown fuse.Different vehicles use different circuits, and it is not possible to accurately diagnose the fault with the small amount of information provided. You need a circuit diagram and a voltmeter, and a continuity tester. First locate and test the turn signal fuse. Do you have voltage to and from the turn signal switch? The hazard light switch is not a simple on/off switch. In the “on” position, a fused battery feed connects to left and right turn signal. In the “off” position, the left turn switch wire is connected to the left turn lamp and the right turn switch wire is connected to the right turn lamp, so there are 3 inputs and 2 outputs. The fault could be a fuse, turn signal switch, hazard switch, flasher unit, or a broken wire or connection.

Why are my white sheets turning yellow?

Hmmmmmm....there are lots of reasons your white sheets could be turning yellow, among them, the hardness of the water, oil and sweat from one's body nightly, your detergent, using softner sheets and the heat from your dryer. To get rid of it, these are my time tested methods for keeping whites white. First and foremost, NEVER, EVER wash white fabrics with anything but other whites. Use less detergent than is indicated on the box, add an extra rinse to your cycle, hang in the sunshine for a few hours after washing, adding bluing to the rinse cycle (I like Mrs. Stewart Bluing and have included a link for you to check it out), using a product called Yellow Out ( can be found in most grocery stores and Walmart), also adding a cup of clear white vinegar to the rinse cycle should help to make the sheets rinse cleaner, reduce build up and to make sheets naturally soft. You can also try adding a cup of baking soda to the wash cycle with your detergent. Adding bleach to your wash cycle, make sure that there is plenty of water in there before adding and use HALF STRENGTH from what is recommended on the label. I would start with the least harmful and work my way up as needed until achieving the whiteness I was seeking. Also, stop using those dryer sheets and adding softeners to your rinse or to the dryer, they just make white dingy. You may have to repeat these a few times to get the sheets completely whitened, after all, they probably didn't get yellowed overnight. Hope this helps you out, as it works very well for me. Do not do these all at once, do each one separately from the other, so you are not mixing incompatible chemicals with one another, VERY DANGEROUS when mixed!

How to make & store chocolate covered bananas. && can you freeze fruit SLICES?

I have done the frozen strawberries, bananas and marshmellows recently, so delicious.
I bought the fondue chocolate from a craft store, AC Moore, I think it was the Wilton brand, I already had the fondue. But you can melt in double boiler on stove .
Just dip in the pot or roll fruit in chocolate.
For strawberries , it was easy. I don't know how long it took to harden. But I left them on parchment paper and about 30-45 minutes later , the chocolate was hardened. One side will be flat of course. Who cares!
For whole bananas , you may have to pour on or put in flat pan and roll the banana. For slices , it is easier. it will harden and stay good in refrigerator. I placed mine on baking sheet and left some out and put others in zip lock freezer bag.
I did marshmellows also and it was quick and you can keep these out of freezer.
If frozen, take out to thaw in refrigerator several hours before serving. If you forget, just thaw on counter the chocolate will not melt.

When going through airport security check can you leave your phone in your carry on and put it through the x ray screening or put it in your jacket and put the jacket through the x ray screen? Or do they make you take your phone out and put it through the x ray screen?

I wrote about this in my book, 300 Healthy Travel Tips. Below is an excerpt from my book with a smart tip on how the former director of the Department of Homeland Security gets through TSA inspection quickly. I hope this will help you.If you are traveling with a sports coat or a jacket (avoid metal zippers), wear it as you enter security. Pre-pack your wallet, phone, watch, gadgets, and a Ziploc bag with your spare change and keys inside your coat’s pockets. If you’re not bringing a coat, put those items in separate Ziploc bags. Or better yet, pack them in your carry-on bag.Show your ID or other travel documents to the TSA inspector, then immediately put your ID in your pocket — don’t forget it! That way, you can keep your wallet secured inside your coat.As you enter the TSA X-ray screening, put your things in the trays on the conveyor belt in the following order:Tray 1: Your shoes and belt. (Or pack your belt in your carry-on.)Tray 2: Your coat (containing your wallet, phone, keys, coins, and gadgets), with a Ziploc bag containing any liquids on top of that.Tray 3: Your laptop or iPad. (Note: You can often keep your iPad in your bag.)Tray 4: Your carry-on bag and/or computer case. (Extra points if it’s a TSA-compliant laptop bag; if it is, you can keep your laptop in your bag.)When you clear security, put everything back in reverse order — your shoes, then jacket. Your hands will be free to grab the bag of liquids and the computer. Put these back into your bag, which is the last item in the line. You should be able to avoid sitting down on the bench and keep moving to your gate. Smart.
