Do You Have To Where Pants In High School Golf Tournaments.

How do High School golf teams work?

Typically(here in Cali) you have a team of 6. 6 players play along with a bunch of other schools. No school can have more than one player in the same foursome. Anyways, you all play normal stroke play and you add up your 5 best scores. You always get one drop score, meaning that the worst score of your team is erased.

Players
1)E
2)E
3)-1
4)+1
5)E
6)+10

In that example you have six scores. the #6 man shot the worst, so that's your drop score. 3 evens, 1 under par, and 1 over par equals to even par(or whatever the total score is) so that's what your team shoots. Then you compare them to the rest of the other schools and thats how you find out where your team placed as a team. They also have an individual thing because usually there are two types of playoffs. Team players and individual. The individual is pretty much to show off to the college scouts.

Now you said trying out. Usually your coach will have a series of "qualifiers" out of the entire squad. Usually 3 rounds of golf or so. After the qualifier is over, the top 6 players get to play a series of tournaments. 4 or 5 tournaments down the road you'll have another qualifier. However, typically the top 3 or 4 players on varsity are good enough to qualify, so there is usually only 1 or 2 spots that could change in players(the 5th and 6th seed)

75-78 will usually get you on the starting roster. When I was in Highschool, if you shot 78+, you weren't making the team lol. That said, we were a golf town at that time.

Can you wear earrings in during school golf tournaments?

Check with the coach.

When seeking answers for this type of question, it would help to state whether you are a high school freshman or a college freshman. It would also help to state where you are. Different states, leagues, and other jurisdictions or governing bodies may have different regulations regarding school uniforms. Different sports may different uniform regulations. Some jurisdictions do restrict jewelery, even when wearing jewelry does not have an effect on the athletes' performance.

I'm a runner, and have heard of runners being disqualified for uniform violations for wearing jewelry in a high school event. I expect school golfing would not have such strict requirements. But, you don't want guesses. So, you should ask your coach. If she isn't sure, ask her to check.

What should a woman wear to a golf tournament?

just wear what you think is nice. no need to impress the hoity toity big wigs.

but definitely wear some sort of capri pants or shorts and something sleeveless after all you dont want to be dressed in something thats gonna broil you!

yes a casual skirt is fine as long as its not too short remember golf courses still have dress codes.

just look online at some of todays golfers michelle wie, natalie gulbis, christina kim, anika sorenstam(spell check?)

im sure you will find plenty of ideas. there are also golf magazines for women that offer alot of clothes and ideas of what to wear.

but comfort is over everything else. remember you gotta swing the club still. if its not comfortable how can you swing if it feels so strange on you?

hope this helped a little

Try here:New York State Golf Associationand here:New Jersey State Golf Association | NJSGA | NJ Golf Courses, ClubsBoth of these will have serious golf tournaments in which you can compete, if you're not. Obviously if your high school has a golf team, you'd definitely want to join that as well.

Are spectators allowed at high school golf matches?

Free country or not, whether spectators are allowed or not really depends on your high school region golf rules. Our region allows spectators. The spectators must stay away from the players (usually on the cart path and 30 yards away). Spectators may not communicate with the players except to say something positive like "nice shot."
There are a couple of reasons for these rules.
One is we don't want someone who doesn't know anything about golf to get hurt by standing somewhere they shouldn't.
The second reason is the we have had overbearing parents who try to control their son/daughter while they are playing and it's not a good experience for anyone.

Just 3-4 years ago coaches were allowed to talk to their players during a match in our region. Golf is really an individual sport and we try to let the players play.

Hope this helps.

What should I wear to highschool golf practice?

A lot of golf clubs are really strict about dress code - so the safest option would be to wear a golf polo or some other type of collared shirt (t shirts are likely to be a no no) with smart long pants with matching or argyle socks or smart (Khaki or otherwise) Bermuda length shorts (or skirts if you are female) with kneehigh/crew/ankle length white socks (not no show socks) or knee high plain/argyle socks with golf shoes, or other types of smart shoes or tennis shoes or something if you do not have them

Probably best to check on specific requirements as they can do vary a lot - if you want to wear shorts/skirts then knee high socks make sense this time of year

What is (debate) tournament attire for girls?

okay, Im obsessed with debate =D

so you could go a few ways.

Most girls try to wear as little as possible. lol
At the Harvard Invitational. Ive done a pleated khaki miniskirt, long sleeved navy blouse, tights to balance out the miniskirt, and leather ankle boots. I got so many compliments and it was still classy.

Most of the time I wear a fitted blouse with a high waisted black skirt. Sometimes Ill wear black slacks.
And for shoes, fancy flats or heels.

Ive also worn dresses for debate, that are like dressy. They are pretty plain, dark colors, but cute and classy.

Depends on when you are going and what the weather is like for the day. Most of the PGA Tour happens in the spring and summer, with a little in the fall and winter. If you are in a warm climate, Bermuda style shorts and a very breathable top for guys. You might prefer a hat, particularly if it’s sunny. Bring sunscreen and reapply often. Even if it’s not hot, the sun can bake you.Assuming you are looking more for the fashion sense than the temperature wear, most guys will wear a polo style shirt, normally of some high tech fabric, khaki Bermuda shorts and sneakers. Basically what you’d wear on the golf course. Is there a dress code? Not really, but you’d rather not look out of place wearing a ratty beat up outfit, right? For ladies, the same note - what you’d wear to play - is the norm. Exception is some ladies will wear the spandex/lycra tights out to the course as well, not normal golf attire, but very comfortable to walk a golf course. Ladies, don’t make the mistake I see so often and wear heels of any kind, not even the wedges. You’re at a golf course and there is a lot of walking, sometimes on uneven terrain and occasionally off of a cart path or walkway and on rough grounds. To me, anything but sneakers is pushing it, but strapped on sandals are not bad. Personally, knowing what’s on a golf course and in the grass, I want nothing to do with exposed parts of my feet. Plus, on that highly unlikely occasion a stray golf ball gets hit your way, you want protection on your feet. Sun can bake them as well.So basically, if you wear what you’d wear on the course, you’ll never go wrong - unless you wear tank tops, flip flops, swim trunks, and ripped blue jeans on the course…One more thing… If rain is in the forecast, bring an umbrella and/or a poncho or rain jacket.

You need to play very well in junior golf, which mostly starts at age group 9 and under, through high school. You have to be good enough to get high enough in the junior golf rankings that you'll be noticed and wanted. Generally you will need to be regularly shooting par or better on full size courses when you are in your early teens. There are many junior golf tours and events, and several junior golf ranking systems. The most important junior tour is AJGA and the two most important ranking systems are AJGA and Junior Golf Scoreboard. Most AJGA players get scholarships but to get into a good D1 college you need to rank about top 30. If you rank top 10 in AJGA you can probably go to any college you want. Note that there are only 4.5 golf scholarships per year per school and they carry about 10 or more on the team. So full rides are rare. If you get 20–30% that's fairly good, but maybe more importantly it can get you in to a very top academic school that you'd otherwise not ever get into. Please see my answer to a similar question on how to get coaches and agents to recruit you as it has a lot more detail since I was at my PC not my iPhone.

MIT.Class:  Hooded sweatshirts and blue jeans or nylon track/wind pants.Football games:  Did we have a football team?I took one PhD class at the Harvard Business School.  there, they wore suits/jackets and dress shirts or white blouses on most days.  The three of us from MIT wore...hoodies and jeans.
