I have my degrees in Social Work. There are varying positions and roles that social workers do. What you're mentioning would be a caseworker in family services, specializing in adoptions. These people have at least their bachelor's degrees in social work. They typically work in county run agencies for family services and have caseloads of children who are waiting to be placed. Getting your bachelor's degree in social work is a four year commitment at an accredited university---it's hard work but if you're certain that it's the path for you then go for it! Perhaps you can call your local family service agency and ask to speak with someone in the adoptions unit, they may be able to answer more of your questions. Good Luck

To the best of my knowledge orphanages don’t keep boys/girls after they pass their degree. But contacting any orphanage for girls could be of help as the girls who leave do keep in touch with the managers of the orphanage. You can get contact details of such girls and approach them directly. And hope some girl will accept your proposal.But makes me wonder why you want to marry an orphan. If you are doing it because it sounds noble then perhaps there’s a danger that you might regret your decision later. Please do consider your motive for your decision. Don’t think/feel you are helping an orphan by marrying her. If you’ve that feeling howsoever small degree then I suggest you not to marry one.Its a different story if you are in love with a girl and later on realize she is an orphan. In such a case you should go ahead and marry her. And in that case there won’t be any issues later on because you aren’t just marrying an orphan but marrying your lover who happened to be an orphan.

Thanks for A2A It depends on what sort of help you wanted to do. India hosts a small number of Syrian refugees and most of them apparently live in South Delhi. There are also some Syrian asylum seekers living there. I don't exactly know the complete details but you can just do research about it. There should be some sort of organisation over there who helps the refugees. You could also volunteer in Calais or in Greece and work with other volunteers and make an impact. Although you need to spend money to go there. There are a few volunteer NGOs in in Greece and near Calais, so just contact them to know full details. There are a lot of good organizations in Chennai. But I would recommend you to go for the ones that are a little out of Chennai. The orphanages in Chennai receive good care from donors worldwide because they are located in the city.Very recently, I along with a set of about 40 volunteers of the YRC-MIT (Youth Red Cross -MIT) visited an orphanage at a village called Anupampattu near Minjur. It is about 40Km from chennai city. The orphanage is located very much near to the Anupampattu railway station. And I was stunned when I saw the locality. The building you see in this image is the orphanage.There are 40 children ageing between 8-15 years. We spent a full day with them and we also bought some provisions, books, stationary etc. for them. The madam in charge told me that there was a difficulty in managing resources as they did not get regular donors.
