Do you know of any detective, mystery or dark adventure PC games from the 90s/early 2000s?
Hi, I'm looking for any detective, mystery, or dark adventure PC games from the 90s/early 2000s. I especially like point-and-click. Some games that I know of are: Gabriel Knight Sanitarium Harvester But I would really like to know of more. They can even be more recent games as long as they are simple point and click or maybe puzzle-platform type games like Machinarium or Limbo. Thanks!
What graphic adventure games from the 90s are worth playing today?
I’m shocked that The Longest Journey hasn’t been mentioned yet.It’s a point and click adventure game that surpasses even mainstays like Kings Quest and Monkey Island for me.It’s the story of a college girl who lives in a futuristic earth-like planet named Stark, who learns of a parallel world of magic named Arcadia, and how to cross between the worlds and attempt to save both.While some of the puzzle solutions are a little obtuse (like most 90s adventure games), the story is fantastic, and the characters can be both humorous and lovable without being so slapstick as to be unrealistic. In fact, one of my favorite quotes in the game is one of the protagonist’s diary entries that makes perfect sense in context:“Sundays are made for sleeping in. Sundays are made for walking around in baggy clothes, watching movies, nursing headaches and hanging out with your friends at the cafe. Sundays are NOT made for going to the worst neighborhood in town to find a kid who might be able to give you the information necessary to infiltrate a powerful cult that plans to take over the known universe. That's what Mondays are for.”Also, the game has Crow, who is probably in the top 5 greatest sidekicks of all time (he’s still pissed about losing out to some short guy named with hairy feet named Sam.)The only real problem with the series is that the sequels, Dreamfall and Dreamfall Chapters, each came out 7 and 10 years apart, respectively, so when they were released it was often hard to remember exactly what happened in previous installments. But since all three games are now complete and on Steam, you can enjoy all three games in succession, with GIANT technical improvements between each.Honestly, if you can tolerate playing point and click adventure games, you’re probably better off playing this series than any other one made in the past 20 years.
