Do You Know The Way To Write An Effective Research Paper

How to write a good research paper?

I'd recommend choosing a topic that you love and you would really love to know more about. It doesn't have to be the most original idea, just something you find facinating.

Once you have an idea, brainstorm a list of things you already know about the subject. Using that list you can begin doing research using google news, google scholar, Ebsco, or another good search engine. Remember to use only websites that are credible (ones that have dates, information about the organization, government websites, etc.) As a teacher, I also recommend not using Wikipedia. Kids use it a lot, but is not considered a scholarly source.

As you research and find good information, I recommend using note cards to jot down good ideas you find. On one side of the note card you can write a few sentences of notes, and on the other side you can site the source so you need not try to find it again later. The good thing about using note cards is that when you are ready to begin writing the paper you can sort the cards into piles based on the information they contain and it can help you identify the main ideas you want to include in the paper.

Once you have the note cards organized, you can begin to outline your paper and fill in the main ideas with your research and your own analysis.

Writing a research paper can be a lot of fun... if you choose a topic you LOVE. Don't settle for something boring just because you think your teacher will like it or because you don't want to take the time to really come up with something great. If you don't love the topic the entire process will be torture.

How do you write an research paper you know nothing about without plagiarizing?

My English teacher put it in very simple (yet it took me a while to get my head around it) terms. You don't have to cite things that are "common knowledge". So you don't have to cite generally accepted facts. I don't think you'd have to cite the above sentence, because if you look it up on google, many sources would tell you that the Statue of Libery was a gift from France in 1802. You only have to cite things that are unique to one (or maybe two) particular source(s). Maybe a different opinion on the Statue of Liberty, or, in the case of science, original research.

It's probably not a good idea to write sentences word for word in your essay, even if you do cite it. Paraphrase, then cite it.

Also, if you're not sure which part of a sentence to cite, a safe bet is just to put the (author page #) thing at the end of the paragraph. It pretty much covers all your writing.

..I hope that made sense. Best of luck on your paper. :)

How long does it take to write a 3 page research paper?

How long does it take to write 3 pages? Or, how long does it take to write a GOOD 3-page paper?

As the term "Research Paper" implies, you're expected to do some research. Depending on the topic, sometimes it takes longer to do the research than it does to write the paper!

Research involves:

- finding information
- collecting information
- analyzing information
- synthesizing information
- reaching conclusions based on information
- writing the final report

Sometimes, instead of finding information, a student is expected to generate their own data from a set of experiments. This can add even more time to the research.

Once you begin writing, it doesn't take too long to fill up three pages (I think that's roughly 1,000 to 2,000 words). Chances are, though, your first draft will be mediocre at best. Effective writing usually involves proofreading, editing, and revision. This, too, takes time.

The best thing to do is get started on the research part soon after the work is assigned. There's a reason a teacher will give you two weeks, or a month, to do a project like this: it's not so you can procrastinate, it's because the research takes time.

Filling 3 pages with words can easily be done in 2 or 3 hours. I'd budget extra time for improving and revising. I'd say 4 to 6 hours for the writing, plus several more for the prior research.

Writing research papers can be beneficial to you as well as your field of research. Let’s break it down:How it helps the field of researchResearch papers are there to help you identify problems and innovate. More specifically research papers are meant to help researchers, both in industry and academics to first know what is going on in a particular field of research and second to innovate and solve problems that exist. When you are interested in a particular topic, say for example, you want to improve green roofs as a mean to improve sustainability; you read papers published on green roofs, get an idea of what current solutions are.
