Do You Like The Name Guerline

Perfume: fake or not? guerlain shalimar?

Not sure if you mean the seal was opened, or it was never there in the first place. Look for the (genuine) same item for sale somewhere or detailed pictures online, and compare with yours. If the giver thought it was real and you find out it isn't, maybe s/he would want to know. Or maybe you would want to return it to the seller. But if that isn't possible, just be happy with it if it smells nice.

No, I only have some older Shalimar and other Guerlain perfumes and bottles, in my collection. I'd search online using the brand name, volume, type (EDP, EDT, spray, etc.), and anything else to describe it -- like is it a gift set or limited edition bottle... If nothing else, Ebay will have pictures of almost every perfume you can imagine but not all of the sellers are knowledgeable and reputable. "Vaporisateur" could mean it was packaged for sale in another country. Or not. You might find one like it on websites originating in other nations. You are on the right track, looking for differences in the print and packaging. Good luck.

Is the civet in Guerlain's Shalimar natural or synthetic?

Of the 3772 perfumes released in 2016, only 26 list civet among their ingredients, which reveals the decreasing popularity of this note. Though natural civet smells divine, IMO, the means by which it is obtained are not.Certainly the original versions of Shalimar contain real civet: the 1925 extrait, the 1937 EdC, both of which I searched for and obtained, along with all the versions and reformulations I could find of this legendary scent. The answer to your question depends on which version you have.Neither the current EdC or EdP lists civet among its notes. I think I detect it in the current EdC and eventually in the EdT, but if so it’s almost surely the synthetic, civetone, rather than civet itself. Also EU regulations have limited the use of several of Shalimar’s original ingredients, making it smell nothing like its initial self. Here’s an article about it: SHALIMAR (VINTAGE VERSION)Note: EdC = Eau de Cologne. EdP = Eau de Parfum. EdT = Eau de Toilette

Guerlain insolence?

my best friend wears insolence by guelain perfume and i absolutely LOVE it.. its possibly my favourite perfume EVER... but.... she's not the type of person to say "Oh Alex, if u like it so much... u get it, I don't mind".... she would go mental if I got it cause its 'her smell'..... soooo.... I was thinkin.... does anyone know of a perfume which is very similar so that everyone is happy??

What is the cutest smelling perfume you can buy?

Well, pure flower scents do it for me.Rose is romantic, strong, like a cat, a violin or piano. Like the name Elizabeth.Cinnamon is dark and heat. Like a stag, an electric guitar or the name VeronicaCute would be either of the two below:Carnation which is frothy pink, like a xylophone or the names Candy or SuzieLily of the Valley is playful, light like a white kitten, a flute or the name CyndiPretty much anything with a light topnote of carnation or lily of the valley.Star Jasmine is too sexually intense to be ‘cute’. It is more like regal beauty.

What is the nicest smelling cologne/perfume you have come across?

i am a fragrance generalist. i enjoy a wide menu. Today I am wearing the classic and ancient 4711.Fragrance tastes develop early. Children are very curious and can be remarkably sophisticated. In music as well. Some fragrances resonate immediately. I am not above asking people what they are wearing, as I did today. These days it's Middle Eastern fragrances, and the astonishing Oud oil by Amouage. Some are an acquired taste. And some, like #5, are essential. Especially the eau de parfum.Sometimes I keep a fragrance not to wear, but to remember. Brut reminds me of first kisses. Coty musk is my University days. And L’Heure Bleu, great sadness. My favorite is Cruel Intentions by Kilian. A close second is Empress Eugenie by Creed. I love CK1, and Dolce Gabanna Red. And Je Reviens, the perfume. And Musc Ravageur.I love the smell of coriander, star anise, sun ripened raspberry, pink pepper, tea roses, and the smell of damp earth in spring. I love the smell of birch trees, and violets, and the cold fresh sunlit air of early morning in winter. Of sunshine on a pine forest, and the resinous sap. Orange blossom, Oriental vanilla, and patchouli, and supple, warm leather. Clover fields, and the smell of humidity on a warm summer night on the lake.A lot of fragrances today are designed by accountants, and focus groups, and trends. Juice by committee. Afraid to take risks. It pervades the fragrance counters. They smell gimmicky, like candy and watermelon and cucumber and chocolate gone wrong. Some smell like freesia on crack.I am always curious, but some houses are consistently good. Creed. Chanel. Dior. Guerlain. Kenzo. To name a few!

Name something in your house that is not made in China or the U.S.A.?

Hmmm...maps of the US?

What is a high quality perfume and what makes it so high quality?

blended by a master “nose” (perfume blender) whose name is famous (or rising) in the perfume worlda smell much more subtle, stylish, dimensional, refined and nuanced than anything you could get at a drugstore/chemist’soften a unique smell-style that sets the trends in perfumery, instead of apeing prevailing trends or knocking them offcontains some authentic, costly essential oils, like real sandalwood, real rose otto, real jasmine sambac, real tuberose, real oudh, real ambergris, real orris butter, real civet, real castoreum, real vanilla, real cedar… instead of solely using synthetic versions of these notes, which are cheaper to usecarries a prestigious house-name possibly, like Chanel, Hermès, Dior, Caron, Balmain or Guerlain; or a big niche name like Diptyque, Byredo, État Libre D’Orange, Frédéric Malle, De Nicolaï, Sisley, Keiko Mecheri, L’Artisan, Serge Lutens, etc.sold by retailers who only deal in premium perfumesoften includes expensive-looking flacon (bottle) and emballage (packaging), and is promoted with a very high-class media blitz in fashion magazines and TV videos.Yet sometimes you can find excellent perfumes at a low price-point: some of my all-time favorites are very inexpensive things like Dana TABU, Revlon JONTUE, Coty ÉMERAUDE, Beene GREY FLANNEL, Evyan WHITE SHOULDERS, JEAN NATÉ, YSL Kouros, Lagerfeld CLASSIC, Lauder YOUTH DEW, Myrurgia MAJA, even the very homely and dirt-cheap Pinaud CLUBMAN. But those are well-kept secrets… Sshhh, don’t tell anybody!

What do you call someone who makes perfumes?

Officially, the name is perfumer as JoAnne Bassett, a wonderful perfumer herself, replies. Other terms are in use as well, such as designer, creative director, but one to me is very glamorous. Perfumers, especially great ones, are often referred to as Noses. My current favorite is Roja Dove who created the single best fragrance my own nose has encountered to date. It’s called Roja (pronounce the j) and its hugely expensive. Here’s a GQ article about him.Roja Dove: The Finest Nose in the World on the Secrets of Smelling Good. Oliver Creed is the great nose at the fabled House of Creed and Jean Paul Guerlain was the last great nose at equally famous Guerlain. I understand he plans to create new perfumes (be still my beating heart). Many of the perfumes they designed are breathtaking, legendary, known by every perfumista and perfumisto. Another great nose of the past was Ernest Daltroff who created many of the iconic Coty perfumes, including Coty de Chypre, first of its kind I believe.
