How to get directv without a credit card?

prepaid wont work, debits work if you have a reasonable credit score and have lived at the same address for 3 yrs or more. These requirements are to help assure that you will keep your 2 yr agreement to the end. They do offer a 2 room basic system with a $200.00 deposit that is credited back to you $5.00 each month on your bill. The only other option is to purchase and install your own hardware then simply build a no contract account with them, this only requires a social security number. If you cant do the install your self you can hire a private company to do it for you for around $100 to $300, depending on how many rooms etc.

Does Directv do credit checks?

Yes Directv does do credit checks..However..if you have really bad credit..the will just make you pay a down deposit..which when I was working there..the deposit was credit back to your account in like monthly credit of $10 a month..every month..not sure if they still do that! I have never heard of Directv ever rejecting anyone from service you might just have to pay a deposit..call and check! It wont hurt!

btw..I have never heard anyone having to $700-$800.

Does dish network or mediacom cable perform a credit check?

Dish Network does conduct a minor credit check. Some cable companies do not, but most also does. With Dish Network though, you still can sign up if you fail the credit check by paying a deposit for the equipments, and you will be credited back for it on your monthly bill. The deposit depends on how many receivers or television sets you are planning to hookup with the service. Also, with DirecTV, this option is available and the deposit fee is $200 if you're just getting regular receivers, or $300 if you're getting a DVR or HD receiver. You also are credited the full amount back in $5 increments monthly.

You do have an option though to name the account after someone else whom you think has a good credit standing. They likewise need to agree to be charged the activation fee (DirecTV) or activation deposit (Dish Network) on their own card.

On your concern on companies poking into your credit report, well the system used to run the credit check is very secure with both DirecTV and Dish Network. No information goes out of this system. The agent who will assist you while signing up will, in fact, only see if you passed the requirements or not. The information you give them are entered directly to the system as they are not allowed to have any paper or pen on their stations. Also, the computer stations they use are restricted and are not able to access any program or website where they could record any of your information.

The credit check is required by these companies as they will be entrusting to your care and use equipments that could very well amount to several hundreds. They just want to make sure that you will be able to pay for the service.

How much does your dish or direct tv cost per month....?

Hey buddy, I'm sitting on sensory overload right now. Basic cable, 50 channels, $29.95. Basic Dish, 75 channels, $32.95 and a new fiber optic line to replace my DSL. I just got my fiber and it's awesome!! (The small towns like mine in N. Dakota will get fiber 5yrs. before the bigger cities in the state, something to do with the higher installation costs) HD, channels on demand, streaming video and movies and things I haven't even tried yet for the same basic rate as my old DSL, $51. I don't need my dish or cable but will keep one or the other in case my fiber goes to hell. RScott

What direction should the satellite Dish face? Why?

Geosynchronous satellites, the type used for TV broadcasting, all orbit the equator at an altitude of about 22,500 miles. At that altitude, orbital velocity will allow the satellite hover over one spot on earth.Assuming you live north of the equator, all geosynchronous satellites will be to your south. On the east coast, satellite dishes will probably be pointed southwest. The ideal orbit for a geosynchronous satellite that will cover the entire United States would be over the Pacific Ocean, west of Ecuador, where a line of longitude passing through Kansas City crosses the equator. However, this is a crowded orbit, so look east and west of this spot. The satellite dish will also have to be tilted up. The further north you go, the less the tilt angle will be, and the weaker the received signal. Once you get up into Canada, that will begin to be a problem. The tilt will also be affected by how far east or west of the satellite you are. When you get too far east or west, you will also have a low angle to the satellite and a weaker signal. Obviously, at some point, you will have no “look angle” for the satellite.

What does DIRECTV code 775 mean?

The on screen error will tell you that your satellite dish is not "communicating" with your receiver. This can be caused by one of the following: 1. Unplugged power inserter - this is a little rectangular black box with a green light on it which produces a 21 volt charge driving the satellite signal from the dish to your primary receiver, which then distributes programming and playlist access to the other receivers in your house. ( if you have more than one tv connected to Directv) 2. Satellite dish is out of alignment, i.e. its not pointed at the satellites correctly. This can occur from a faulty installation where a pole mounted dish is not deep enough in the ground, not enough concrete, or a hack installer packed the pole with dirt and rocks instead of actual concrete. Incidentally, Directv corporate trains techs to use 150 pounds of concrete with the 6 foot pole 3 feet deep in ground. People knock pole mounted dishes out of alignment most commonly with riding lawnmowers! A roof or wall mounted dish can get out of alignment from high winds, or failure to hit a stud with the center lag bolts on the roof or wall resulting in an overall less stable mounting surface which can warp a roof or wall faster over several years, resulting in wood rot and a mount which moves around during high winds and rain. 3. A damaged wire between the dish and the receiver. Wiring can become dried and cracked from several years of exposure to outdoor elements, especially direct sunlight in warmer areas. I've seen countless jobs where animals ranging from mice to cats and dogs have chewed wiring between a customer's satellite dish and the receivers inside. 4. A damaged receiver. This can be the result of internal failure of an electronic component ( motherboard, satellite in port, bad power cord or power cord plug in port) from an electrical power surge, outdoor lightning strike, or somebody dropped the receiver and damaged it rendering it unable to receive satellite signal anymore.  These are the most common causes behind the error message 775. The one that is easily fixable is the power inserter being accidentally unplugged. This is most common when a customers child unplugs the device so they can plug in a video game system, unwittingly disabling the power to the satellite dish. The other issues identified usually require a  service call from a professionally trained and certified Directv technician.
