Can i play gta 5 without installing disc 1?
If you're on an X-Box, then you will need a disc because of the system of how the disc is ran. Any other systems, you wont need it, but it may annoy you how much the screen of it will pop up(Or if that is just for me), because my PS3 was bought for $20 at a yardsale. Good luck.

I just got a used copy of mass effect 2 for the ps3. when i loaded, a message said that it need to install the game data. when i click ok, it won't even installed the data. it not a download copy, it a retail disc copy. any help. do you think it suppose to take long for it install the data just in 1 % or they sold me a defected copy thank in adavance

I've heard of people modifying their ps3 to enable them to download the entire disc to the hdd. The only problem is that as Sony learns of these they are adding additional safeguards to prevent in their regular firmware updates and many new games will require the updates so you're limited as to how long you can play it before they catch up with the technology. As for getting it on disk, the cost of a Blu-Ray burner is such that you're better off just buying the game. After the expense of the burner and the expense and time involved in hacking your ps3 to allow it, it's not worth it.

Now although the game is installed on your system, you are required to insert the disk anyway because the game wants proof that you bought it, or at least have posession of it.If you dont want to insert the game every time you play, all current-gen consoles will have an online store which will allow you to digitally buy the game. It will probably take up more storage space on the console, but you wont have to insert a disk.
