Do You Own A Next Gen Console

When will the next gen of game consoles come out?

First off the above answer is complete bull-$hit, there has been no announcement so don't believe what he says.

Okay so the PS3 was built to have a 10 year life cycle, so I am thinking that the PS4 will comeout somewher in between 2015-2017. As for the XBox 720 (if it is called that), Microsoft has stated it to has a 10-year life cycle but I feel a new console coming out somewhere in between 2012-2014.

Now onto the Wii 2. I feel that Nintendo has the ability to keep dishing out new consoles almost every 3 years. So I am thinking that the Wii 2 will be out by 2009-2010.

When are you buying a next gen console?

never.

you cant call a console next gen when its all most an exact copy of the last console the company made. what new features does the ps4 or xbox one have that make them so great that you must buy them, besides the new games that will inevitable only be able to be bought on those consoles.

the wiiU was more bloody next gen than the ps4 and xbox one, as it changed the console and bring new ideas to the plate, allowing you to use a handheld device to play with your friends on the tv, or even play a game used for the tv, on a hand held device. that's intuitive...

and for the first year or so, most of the new console games will also have console ports for the old console, while keeping some of the really good ones for the newest console. for example, dead rising 3? that will probably be a xbox one only, yet that huge robot fighter game you see constant adds on the 360 about will have a console port for the 360 too

Next gen consoles DRM?

I've been told so many times that the reason most people, even hardcore Xbox fans, are making the switch to PS4 is because of the DRM. The DRM crap is gone. So now that's not a legitimate excuse. What I do want to know is why PS fans now have to deal with Xbox fans acting like they love PlayStation? Most of the people I know said, "It wouldn't matter the price of the consoles. Xbox for life." If that's the case, then why do you now want a PS4? Everything about them is the same. Price, online services, third party games.

Which next-gen console do u prefer?

Hey finally i found a person that understands Who the true Champ is.........NINTENDO!!!!!
Playstation 3<--- basically a playstation 2 with better graphics,blu-ray hd player...hahaha what a joke...if i want a Blu-ray player....ill buy a Blu-ray player,i dont need no game machine to play hd movies or wash my dishes or whatever the PS3 does.....Sony can smooch my Butt....
Microsoft has a better line up than Sony...Microsoft for gods-sake!!! the newbie in the console war...its gonna be hilarious when NINTENDO kicks their *** all over the world......Microsoft and Sony can kiss all my ***.

What console and games should I get?

I’m reminded of what Yahtzee said about this matter.“My non-gaming friends often say to me, "Hey, we'd really like to play the best video games; which of the next-gen consoles do you think we should buy?", to which I reply "Why did you just make two completely unrelated statements? That was like saying "I want to join the Russian ballet; what colour should I paint my arse?", or "I'd like to visit Morocco; how many times should I stick my head in a Corby trouser press?""You want to play the best video games, you buy a PC, or, at a pinch, borrow a PS2 from a time traveler.”To which I’m inclined to agree. The current gen console market is a shameful, political election-esc, pandering shotgun-smiles/fake-laughter affair anymore. With massive graphical capabilities comes massive budgets, which comes with massive stakes and corporate executives biting their nails at any hint of risk taking. Thus, you’ve given an oligopoly of developers who make mediocre games an advertise themselves as the lesser of two evils in order to keep an edge without putting in much effort. There are still a few gems out there in the modern market. Innovation can still happen. Titanfall, Dark Souls, Undertale, etc, have all demonstrated that. It’s never a linear correlation, just a more LIKELY outcome. In my opinion, the best of the best should always be accessible (which is why no backwards compatibility in modern consoles, all in the name of holding exclusive entitlement IRKS me so). PC gaming allows for emulators for just about any retro game in existence, albeit, with some hassle on occasion. Steam and GOG have a massive library each, both for old and top of the line games. Better specs for a good PC tower are always available, and regular upgrades circumvent the need to buy midway consoles, such as the Xbox One S or the Nintendo Switch. The only disadvantage is local multiplayer. If you wanted to sit on a couch and play Halo with friends, than an Xbox might be a good idea. Party games are hard for PC’s to do, too. So it really boils down to what you want to do with your gaming device. If you want to have friends over regularly to fuck around, by all means….. get a PS2. We all have fond memories of it anyways.

YOUR Fallout 4 wishlist (next gen consoles)?

If I could have one wish for a video game it would be Fallout with the ability to build stuff like minecraft without sacrificing 3D graphics. That would be very difficult and more likely a Fallout 5 or 6 so I would just be extremely happy if they left the game mostly in tact with more customization options (more items of course) a smoother less buggy engine, an updating/changing world (like you said about adding quests, but DLC's will likely be how they do it still) and most of all a more challenging game. Mostly by adding more creatures/characters, smarter AI's and MORE OF THEM. an Updating world would be the best addition and maybe CO OP. For a more diverse map they could have the ability to travel to different maps.. Like revisit the Mojave or Capital Wasteland or Point Lookout (I really liked that place). There have been many speculation that Fallout 4 will take place around Boston as it is the home of the commonwealth where the androids and higher tech seem to come from. (Fallout 3: The replicated man)

You might be able to find a lot of what you want in mods, Bethesda games IMO are some of the best games for modding, they even design it to be that way and make a program to allow people to make their own. Its called the G.E.C.K. and there are many tutorials, you should check it out. It was enough for me to get a copy of the games for my PC.

Do you own a video game console?

Married, two kids, full time job. I still find time to play games at night after the kids have settled down and gone to bed, and the wife wants to watch her shows on TV. I have an Xbox One, PS4, 3DS, and an ok at best PC I play on. I’ve been gaming since I was a little kid (started at 5, and here I am at 30, still going strong), and I use it for more than just a way to have fun. Isuffered a serious head injury 8 years ago during a deployment to Afghanistan. I had two fracture, and suffered major bruising to the brain tissue. For months I could barely talk without mumbling, and my memory was completely shot (I forgot about talking to someone literally 20 minutes after hanging out with him for 3 hours). While to this day I still have some issues with stuttering and get frequent headaches and migraines, I use gaming as a way to keep my brain focused, and it keeps my brain and hands in sync so that I can live a somewhat normal life. Gaming quite literally helped me get my brain back to almost normal.

What do you hope will be in the next generation of consoles?

Personally I would like the console manufacturers to focus on gaming. Too much of the 8th gen consoles was on fluff that I’m not interested in. I suspect the console manufacturers wasted their R&D money on stuff gamers don’t care about and doesn’t sell consoles to non-gamers. If I want to watch TV, I’ll use my TV or the Freeview/cable/satellite box. I don’t want to use my console to change the channel, turn on or off my lights or turn my washing machine on or off. I want it for playing games. All that unnecessary hardware/software that goes into turning a gaming console into a smart speaker or video recorder or voice activated TV remote control could be spent on making the console backwards compatible instead. Backwards compatibility is something I really do want.Aside from that I’d like to see more cross platform cooperation so that if I buy a PlayStation and my friend buys an X-box and my other friend buys a Nintendo and my other friend has a PC and we’re all playing the same title, we can all play together regardless of our platform.I’m not into VR and don’t want to risk damaging my house and making myself ill or risking bodily injury. Console manufacturers can leave out that functionality. AR is a different matter. If AAA gaming developers are going to focus on mobile gaming then I would like bluetooth connectivity to my phone so I can take part of my game with me on my phone and synch back when I get home. That way I can get cosmetic items for my console games while I’m out waiting for the bus or walking the dog or on my lunch break that I can show off in the main game. The 8th gen consoles make it easy to capture gameplay for uploading to social media and streaming sites. I’d like that functionality to still be there on the 9th gen consoles.I’m expecting the optical drives to be missing from next gen consoles and games to be purely download. I’m hoping for usb ports and an operating system that allows plugging in external HDD drives for extra storage. This is because gamers don’t just game these days but we like to capture our gameplay and edit it and upload it. If we’re doing that in 4k it’s going to take up a lot of storage.

Which next-gen console will you buy:PS4, Xbox One, or WiiU? Why?

As it will be some years before I need to replace my PS3, it's hard to tell. If I had to choose today, however, it would be the Xbox One. Why?I am not a hardcore gamer. The XBox one seems like it has and will continue to have more non-game entertainment options.Did I mention I'm not a hardcore gamer? I play games maybe an hour a month. I own four games. I've never wanted to sell one, never wanted to borrow someone else's games, and thus don't care about any of that stuff. I also never done multiplayer online gaming and have no intention of ever doing so.I'm hoping the XBox One will eventually allow me to get rid of the cable box. The PS4 hasn't made any moves in that direction, and it's a bit of a thing for me.Based on Ariel Williams' answer, it seems like the XBox One will have a slower fade into technological obsolescence.I'm intrigued by Kinect, which I've read is better, more sophisticated and more versatile than  the Sony Camera (or whatever it's called)And because I don't care about the biggest complaints people are making about the XBox One. Required Internet connection? My PS3 is already permanently connected to my WiFi. (Honestly, I don't understand the fuss over this issue: I assumed that our consoles have been permanently connected to the Internet for years. It's like getting mad when your employer says all employees are required to shower daily. Don't you do that already?) Oh, and the privacy issue with the Kinect? A non-issue. To save electricity, I turn off the power strip that my game, cable box, and TV are plugged into when not in use. Let's see Kinect invade my privacy now. (And heck, if it bothers you so much? Throw a towel over it when you're not using it. How hard is that?)To put it succinctly, I'd pick the XBox One because I'm not interested in a gaming console. I'm interested in a media/home entertainment hub-like device that happens to have gaming capabilities.

Should I buy the Xbox One X or wait for the next console generation?

It depends. If you want to play games at 4K, the XBOX One X is a good choice. However, it has its problems. For one, very few console games support 4K 60fps, so you may end up playing games at the same resolution and frame rate as an XBOX One. Also, you will have to pay to play multiplayer. This is one of the things about consoles that ticks me off. You pay for something, and then they charge you to use your own internet connection! This cost to play online will probably still be present in newer consoles as well. The only way to get free multiplayer is to switch to PC.Also, what console (if any) do you currently have? If you are running the XBOX 360/PS3 or older, an upgrade definitely makes sense. However, if you have the XBOX One/PS4 or later, you shouldn’t upgrade unless you really want 4K.I think there aren't enough 4K games for the XBOX One X to justify its price of $500. You are likely better off waiting for the next generation after the X to upgrade as of now.
