Do You Prefer The Disney Movie Version Or The Original Story

Do you prefer Disney versions of fairytales or the original stories?

I have to say that I do prefer the Disney versions for the most part.Cinderella’s stepsisters didn't mutilate their own feet in an attempt to fit the glass slippers. Gross and really not something appropriate to a kids movie.Ariel got the Prince and didn’t permanently lose her voice or die and spend the rest of eternity as a soulless spirit (which never made a whole lot of sense anyway).Snow White only had to eat the poisoned apple. She didn't have to go through the other ways an old woman tried to kill her with her stupidly falling for it every single time. Sorry, but once was dumb enough, three times was literally too stupid to live.

Do you like the Disney version or the original version of the famous fairy tales?

Storytelling is an art. The purpose of each story is to dispense new morals that are going to speak to the current generation. While I haven't had a chance to read the Grimm Fairy Tales or several originals (though I have read the original Hans Christian Anderson’s The Little Mermaid), I've skimmed enough to gather a basis with what their entertainment was trying to accomplish.Take Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. If you've seen the animated movie, it's actually quite similar to the book. It is darker and does allow for certain characters to be more twisted, but it still tells the same story. What Walt Disney wanted to do was not only bring his own interpretation, but also add new elements that could have not been done well in book format like more haunting imagery and songs. If I had to pick either version, I'd pick the Disney animated movie. What about an adaptation that's more different?Hans Christian Anderson wrote The Snow Queen that would be the basis for the mega hit Frozen. Not only is the snow queen a complete villain with no redeeming qualities, but Satan is a character a long with a ton of abstract ideas that wouldn't translate well into film. This is why The Snow Queen wasn't made by Disney for a long time. When Disney made Frozen, they made the snow queen a relatable hero that's misunderstood and took out the abstract elements of the original story in favor for a more flowing plot. While I see both the book and movie as good but not great, I'd still pick the Disney movie given that it's a better story.Nine times out of ten, I'll pick the Disney adaptation over the original story it's based off of. It honestly depends on the person, but most would be drawn to the movies then the books. Their just expanded upon in the right ways. That shouldn't mean we need to not read the stories; we just have to look at them as a different kind of story it's telling.

Why is Disney's The Little Mermaid movie different from the original fairy tale?

Because it was Disneyfied. The original Little Mermaid story isn’t the friendliest story on the block. Instead of just trading for what she does, the Little Mermaid will DIE if the Prince doesn’t marry her and she will DIE if it doesn’t happen soon. Her sisters trade even more for a knife to turn her back to a mermaid. But fail. And she gets turned into bubbles at the end (She DIES) and the Little Mermaid must work as an air sprite/faerie/fairy/etc for hundreds of years to get a soul and go to heaven (Did I not mention that? The Little Mermaid DOESN’T HAVE A SOUL.)And this movie would never go, especially not then. Not only that, if it did, kids would leave traumatized.

Does the original story of Rapunzel differ from the "Tangled" version?

Absolutely yes! In the original story, Rapunzel's parents agreed to give their child to the enchantress in exchange for an edible plant that Rapunzel's mother desperately wanted. When Rapunzel was locked away in the tower, the prince overheard her singing and eventually began to visit Rapunzel everyday. When the enchantress learned what the prince had been doing, she cut off Rapunzel's hair and sent her to a desert to live, along with her twin children that the prince had fathered. When the prince came to visit Rapunzel later that day, the enchantress told him what she had done, and he was so distraught that he cast himself off the tower and landed in thorns, scratching his eyes. He wandered around blind for many years until he finally found Rapunzel. She cried when she saw him, and her tears healed his blindness. And they lived happily ever after.

Do you like the new Star Wars movies or do you prefer the old ones?

With its memories and nostalgia, the original trilogy isn’t going anywhere. The clunky mess of the prequels provide endless meme opportunities that won't be forgotten anytime soon. And as for the sequels, well, I love them.None of the protestations of the fanboys has convinced me that the heroine’s journey of Rey, with its very different story beats, is any less interesting or absorbing than the familiar beats of Luke’s hero journey. I've loved watching her struggle to come to terms with herself.Kylo Ren’s temptations towards the Dark have been brilliantly actualised onscreen by Adam Driver’s performances. In a few scenes across two films thus far, JJ Adams and Rian Johnson have managed to achieve what it took 3 films of clunky prequel Anakin to supposedly achieve, and then some.Sourced through real frustration and confusion, Mark Hamill’s performance of Luke added spice and realism to the character. After finally learning the lesson his nemesis will not, watching Luke totally and utterly outplay Kylo Ren in the greatest act of ‘Jedism’ onscreen was a delight. Gamers ought to have rejoiced at the ‘powers’ Luke showed…Seeing Finn develop from a justifiably fearful character on the run to one who embraced extremism before discovering through friendship that there might be another way has been eye opening. And so on, and so on.

Where did the Disney story "Sleeping Beauty" originate from?

It came from a book where the princess is not woken up by the princess.Instead the prince rapes her in her sleep, and gets her pregnant, and she gives birth to twins. The babies suck out her sleep, and Mommy wakes up.“Where did these babies come from…wait, did Prince Charming rape me instead of wake me? Fine by me, I haven’t eaten in like…over 9 months!”And she EATS HER CHILDREN!The end.Are you glad you asked?

Why isn't there any mother in most disney versions of classic fairytales?

I was going to answer this myself but this article states it clearer than anything I could compile myself. http://www.snopes.com/disney/wal...While most believe that Disney has something against mothers but it's a rather common literary concept. Background info on mothers in Disney movies: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rol...

Whats the name of the book with the original Hercules story in it?

Hercules is separate from Snow White, Cinderella and sleeping Beauty. I'm not sure what exact book Hercules is from, but some of the actual story is included in Edith Hamilton's "Mythology". Other interesting Greek mythology stories are included in this book. But Snow White, Cinderella, and Sleeping Beauty, and other stories such as the Three Little Pigs,The Gingerbread Man, Little Red Riding Hood and many others are German stories that were written by The Grimms Brothers. Disney really changed their stories around a lot!
