Do You Remember Major League Wrestling

Why doesn't India have a pro wrestling league like those of Japan?

There are state level wrestling leagues in India (namely in Punjab, Haryana etc)but sadly they are not televised because they are pure technical old-school wrestling and most people won't even understand it. WWE , NJPW are household names becauy how they present themself. They consider the viewer how they'll react to something how to make a match entertaining by buildups , promos some crazy spots inthe match itself. Indian wrestling inthe other hand doesn't have these. They are not fixed fights. Wrestlers really fight in the “akhada" and wrestle and then win. People in India don't even watch amateur wrestling in common wealth games or Olympics (which is a big deal for any country) so people doesn't have that desire to be a wrestler (honestly speaking, here if a kid is thinking of becoming a sports man then he is thinking of becoming next Sachin or Dhoni or Kohli). If I know correctly then India doesn't have a pro wrestling certification process because amateur wrestlers don't become professional as if they become one they won't be able to take part in national or international level amateur wrestling competition and without that they won't be able to make a living. But there is definitely hope for this situation to get improved. How isl and prokabaddi league has attracted people towards football and kabaddi, some government initiated tournament or private funded tournament can make people watch wrestling. Even WWE can launch NXT India ( WWE has made its intentions clear about expanding its reach and for that it recently started NXT UK).Note: there was a wrestling program, an Indian scripted wrestling show, can't remember the name but it was a huge flop.

As you have matured, are you more or less interested in Major League Baseball?

Not more, not less. Just different. As a kid, I loved baseball cards, Strat-O-Matic Baseball, playing in organized ball, playing in a Wiffle Ball League on the greatest field of its kind in Monroe County, Missouri (my backyard), and listening to Gowdy, Kubek, and Garagiola each Saturday on Game of the Week. And then I loved listening to Buck and Shannon talking about my favorite team each day from March to September.Today? I love the game behind the game. I have loved coaching my kids, taking them to games, and passing along the love of the game I have to them. I enjoy reading 4–5 great baseball books a year. I find MLB Network almost intoxicating at times. And I continue to find many parallels between Sabermetrics and data analysis in small business.Again, not more, not less, just different.

Is Indy Wrestling overrated?

Yes. Only by the IWC though.

I don't think ever wrestler from an indy promotion is automatically a great in ring worker (unlike the majority of the IWC). I don't care where someone comes from. Whether their WWE developed or indy Developed. Its irrelevant. Not all indy wrestlers or wrestlers from Japan are great by default.

But by the IWC standards... Yes. Highly HIGHLY overrated.

Most people pretend to like indy wrestlers. Just because someone on the Internet said they were good.

Is pro wrestling fake? Do they ever actually hurt each other (barring accidents)?

They are very real. The result and the spots of the match are scripted. The moves like punches and kicks are real.A professional wrestler performs signature moves such that they don't injure the other wrestler.Lets take an example of move known as Piledriver. It has been banned in WWE since 2000 and only two wrestlers in WWE are allowed to use the move(Undertaker and Kane). This photo clearly shows that the head doesnt touch the ground. If the move is not done correctly then it will result in a injury. In 1997 Owen hart botched a reverse piledriver on Stone Cold Steve Austin. This broke Austin's neck and that is the reason why he retired early. If we see blood in WWE now it has happened unintentionally since we are now in the PG era. Today's WWE product is marketed towards children not adults. Wrestlers like Ric Flair, Triple H are regular bladers. The preffered area for blading is the forehead since it bleeds profusely and heals easily.I would recommend you to watch the movie The Wrestler (2008).The Wrestler shows that while outcomes of matches may be fixed the physical tolls these men take on their body are often more extreme and long lasting than most other "respectable" sports.

What skills and qualifications do you need to become a wrestler in wwe?

InstructionsDifficulty: Challenging
Training and Conditioning

Step 1 Take up a sport other than wrestling. Many WWE wrestlers started as well-rounded athletes playing football or other sports. You don't need to be a world-class athlete, but you should be conditioned as a wrestling match is a strenuous activity.
Step 2 Take up amateur wrestling in school. Having a background in actual competitive wrestling has never been required, but it will help. Fans are growing more and more to like wrestlers that can pull off actual wrestling moves.
Step 3 Attend professional wresting schools. The WWE does not personally sponsor any schools, but there are many independent schools and some sponsored by smaller wrestling companies. Check online to find a school near your area.
Step 4 Take acting or speech classes. Remember that WWE wresting is a mix of sports and theater. You need to be an entertaining character as well as an athlete.
The Pro Wrestling Ladder
Step A Try out for a smaller, independent wrestling organization. This is the same as starting in the minor leagues in major league sports. The big difference is you will have to rely on yourself to move upward.
Step B Get a tryout in Ohio Valley Wrestling, located in Louisville, Kentucky. This is the official training ground for the WWE, and almost all their wrestlers come from here.
Step C Move up to the WWE to perform in dark matches. You will first take part in matches put on for the live fans before the televised matches. From here, you will likely move on to Heat, the WWE's webcast show.
Step D Move up to WWE television shows. Your character will be assigned to either Raw, SmackDown or ECW. Many consider Raw to be the cream of the crop because it's televised live

Who in India knows, or likes, NJPW (New Japan Pro wrestling), or ROH (Ring of Honour) for WWE fans?

I know all major wrestling promotions (including PWG, WCPW, Lucha underground, etc), I followed TNA/impact back in the day when Main Event Mafia were strong. But these days, due to lack of time I follow only WWE. I do watch some matches from other promotions, if they get a five star rating by Meltzer or the internet explodes with some. But, I do follow them on news but I don’t watch them per se.
