Do You Think I Should Buy This Land

Is buying land a good Idea?

My fiancé and I were looking at the idea of buying land. We were wondering if it might be a good investment because we eventually want to build our own home.

We can't afford a house $250,000 but we can afford to buy a $4000 plot of land to eventually build on. the property taxes in the area aren't that bad either. They are selling around the neighborhood we want to live in and I'm just not sure if it's a good idea if we arn't looking to build anytime soon.

some advice on buying land would be nice. Thanks!

Do you think a Native American would sell you his land?

If you went up to a Creek or a Cherokee Indian in the 1830s and asked if you could buy some of his or her land, what would he or she say to you?

They were under a lot of pressure those days.

What do you need to know when buying vacant land?

It depends on what you plan on doing with that land.  Are you holding it to sell it at a future date to make a killing?  Then look for land that either has beautiful land features (yet still buildable i.e. not to steep) or is flat and treeless.  Make sure you are within the growth pattern of a nearby growing city.  Do you want to build a house on it?  Make sure it won't cost too much to bring utilities onto the property.  You may also want to make sure you will have emergency services available to you, especially fire services.Do you just want to have some land to get away to for some R&R?  Then buy something you really like, just make sure you can get to it.The first option is probably the trickiest to do, and you may have to hold onto the land for a long time.
