Do You Think Im Being Unfair

Do you think I'm being unfair about son's name?

I agree with you. It's kinda ugly (no offense to any Igor's reading) and he probably would get made fun of. Try to convince him that the baby should be a JR.

Atheist: do you think life is unfair?

I was never really religious. I did attempt religion a few times but found it purposeless and lacking mental substance and verification.

Is life unfair? yes, it's one of the main reasons i realised that their is little "grand design" to the existence of life. How much other religious rhetoric and denial of scientific and living fact swayed my understanding toward the nonexistence of a God i haven't really measured.

How my life has changed. I tend to view circumstance as it is and not part of some other beings plan, this can be depressing at times but i don't think more than it is for religious folk because either way you have to face the situation. it's helped me become more independent and have more faith in my own capabilities as i don't have to request strength from a spiritual being in order to do something, if i achieve or fail it was my own doing not because god wished it to be so.

The only thing i would say i miss about religion and being religious is the false sense of security, that all will turn out as planned.

Thanks for asking a valid, non-agressive religious question, it's refreshing.

Do you think Uber is unfair to its workers?

Driving for Uber means you agree to the terms and conditions as an independent contractor. Running an independent contractor role is similar to running a business. That means the onus is on you to turn a good profit and to be well informed, as opposed to an actual employee. Uber has not misclassified you as an employee. If you happen to consistently make less than minimum wage, that's your fault - because in general, the average wage per hour for drivers has been more than enough to cover cost of living after expenses by 2–3 times, according to Uber’s weekly reports in my area.To further illustrate my point, I'll go with a personal experience:I made six figures (before expenses) working part-time on Uber for $50–150/hr by getting long rides at maximum surge in a high value location (trade secret), and doing automated marketing by recruiting drivers using bots. Here's one of my photos. If you're not turning a profit you're happy with, then something is wrong with your business processes. For instance, I have been in a ride with someone driving a gas guzzling pickup truck(4 door) he bought on Craigslist, complaining he's making less than minimum wage because of all the repairs and gas prices. He could have bought a used 2011 Nissan Leaf at 6k and paid $5/month for charging stations. Relatively newer car at about the same price he paid for and I'm absolutely 100% sure he can make $15/hour+ average net income for 40 hours/week if he chose the right hours and stayed at simple downtown locations in my area. More than enough to live on and a strategy anyone can follow. It's unfair to assign blame to Uber when you aren't turning a profit, because it's your fault and you're not an actual employee. Uber has no legal obligation or responsibility to help you turn a profit, but nonetheless Uber has provided some benefits regardless because it has some vested interest in retaining their drivers. If you find Uber’s partnership not making you happy, then find a full time W-2 job with benefits. There are many options as a driver for $12/hr with full benefits and mileage reimbursements. You can get a referral code on how to become a Uber Driver under my List of Approved Products on my blog.

Do you think you’ve been judged unfairly?

I had a (thankfully ex) coworker named James who judged me right off the bat. He was wrong.James was a dick.He thought the world was against him because he was a person of colour and gay. He thought that’s why he was unsuccessful and still working as a Starbucks manger. Except his ‘calling’ was to be a circus performer for Cirque du Soleil, he hadn’t finished his circus degree, and was nearing thirty.I was sixteen when I first started working with him. He was overly critical, never complimented me for anything I did right, and never showed me how to do anything. I distinctly remember him telling me to clean the coffee grinder (which requires dissembling it). He slapped a vague book on the counter and went: “You’re ‘smart’, figure it out.”He judged me unfairly because I went to an upscale semi-private high school. Of course, he ignored the fact that the only reason I went is because my own town was too small to have a high school, so they were legally obligated to pay my tuition at the fancier high school I went to. He saw me as a rich, privileged white kid with no problems worse than boyfriend troubles. He eventually became so hostile that I refused to cover shifts when he would be there. What he refused to see was that, although he was a person of colour and gay, I didn’t have it easy either.I’m also a queer person.I’m a woman, who has been harassed at work several times.I suffer from mental health issues, including anxiety and depression. The year I started working there, I was raped and stalked.I couldn’t afford that high school, town taxes paid for me.I remember filling carafes while he just stood over me, saying: “You have it easy. I bet nobody’s ever told you that you’re failing. Maybe it’s time that they start”.James was a dick.

I think my wage is being unfairly cut at work, is there anything I can do?

I've been with this company for about 6 years now. For 5 of these years, I've been in a "higher" position where I make more than most at my location, but my position isn't at every location in my area. For these past 6 years I have never had an issue with my wages or benefits, never had an issue with any bosses, and have always met standards on my yearly reviews. In my area there were once 6 other people with my position, and eventually it dwindled down to where I am now the only one. Even though the removed the position from some locations, they hire for it in others. Monday of this week HR in my area tells me that they are getting rid of my position, and my options are either to continue my position at another location an hour away, or I can stay at my location but take a pay cut. This was not only extremely out of the blue, but then he told me that I have one day to decide. The location he offered to me is an hour away distance wise, but that doesn't include any morning traffic or considering inclement weather (in the middle of winter). The pay cut that he was offering me didn't make sense to me at all because not only do I feel that I deserve what I make, but also this is extremely short notice- doesn't allow me to prepare for anything at all-, and it would put me even below what the rest of my coworkers make. I reached out to other people who used to have my position and their wage never changed when they started another position! I feel like I'm being treated unfairly.

I’m shy, never talk in school, I think I’m being treated unfairly?

In school, in my classes, I never raise my hand. I never join in class participation. I just can’t. It just feels weird for me to say stuff out loud with the whole class hearing me. I also don’t like being the center of attention. If I were to talk, then I would feel my face get warm (I would blush) and my heart would beat faster. During parent teacher conference, one of my teachers said to my mother “I don’t know what she knows and what she doesn’t know, she’s quiet!”. I kind of want to cry because I feel like I’m being treated like an alien from space that can’t talk. I will talk when spoken to, and I can talk one on one with someone, I just can’t raise my hand. I CAN talk, just not when the WHOLE CLASS can hear me... But it seems that my teachers can’t understand that.

Why is life so unfair?

“You don’t deserve this”My first week at Stanford and a group of Indians got together for dinner. I was in awe because the people around me were a mix of gold medalists from the top institutes like the IITs, NITs and BITS. I was without doubt the black sheep in the room. We were going around doing introductions and when it was my turn I didn’t have any fancy university name or GPA to brag about; forget an AIR (All India Rank), I never even took the JEE. I could feel the eyes judging me, some in admiration for fighting the odds and some snubbing me for being that inferior being who just got lucky. I stood there with my head hanging meekly waiting for the next person to start speaking when suddenly, a guy who had some of the most impressive credentials in that group spoke some words that I will never forget“There are so many candidates I know who are smarter and more deserving than you. You shouldn’t be here. My batch-mates should have been here instead of the likes of you. People like you come and dilute the prestige of this institute. You should realize that they just brought you in for diversity. You don’t deserve this.”My initial reaction was that of shock followed by anger. Then came the rush of sadness when I realized that he was right. And then something clicked. I felt happy. He was absolutely right and this made me happy. Sometimes you will get lucky and stumble on good fortunes and opportunities that you absolutely do not deserve. Embrace them. Make the most of them. Do not shy away from the challenge.A lot of people complain about how life is unfair. I have a different perspective here. LIFE IS UNFAIR. Embrace it. I never see people complain about life being unfair to them in a good way. Some of us will be born to loving and caring parents (while thousands grow up orphans)Some of us will make friends for life (while millions live and die alone)Some of us will find the love of our lives (while others get their heart broken)Some of us will stuff ourselves with food today (while millions sleep hungry)Some of us will get that success we didn’t deserve (while others get left behind)Some of us will be happy and content (while most remain sad and pessimistic)LIFE IS UNFAIR. LIFE IS AWESOME. LIFE IS ALL WE’VE GOT. EMBRACE IT!In case we haven’t met before, I’m Rohan Kamath.Thank you for reading. I hope I could help you smile today. :)

Do you think getting a job through networking is fair or unfair?

Thanks for A2A..The vast majority of job openings are never advertised; they’re filled by word of mouth. That’s why networking is the best way to find a job. Unfortunately, many job seekers are hesitant to take advantage of networking because they’re afraid of being seen as pushy, annoying, or self-serving. But networking isn’t about using other people or aggressively promoting yourself—it’s about building relationships.Networking is the best way to find a job because:People do business primarily with people they know and like. Resumes and cover letters alone are often too impersonal to convince employers to hire you.Job listings tend to draw piles of applicants, which puts you in intense competition with many others. Networking makes you a recommended member of a much smaller pool. The job you want may not be advertised at all. Networking leads to information and job leads, often before a formal job description is created or a job announced.

Do you think it’s unfair how life makes you suffer in order to show someone how to behave in a relationship?

Lessons reappear until we learn them.***Change the point-of-view: what have you learned from this relationship?Would you have learned it any other way? Maybe yes, maybe not. The next ‘teacher’ might have brought a lot more suffering. I have no way of knowing - and neither do you!So, yes, I think life might have done you a great favor teaching you this lesson at this point in your life.Fairness - in the sense of a balanced scale - depends on what you put on the scale.I don't know how much you suffered and I'm sorry for that. But I would heavily recommend that you always try to see and be thankful for your present-self in relation to your experiences. Especially your bad experiences.Don't put her or her boyfriend in the scale against suffering you endured. Put your best You against that suffering. And brace yourself: life has a truckload of challenges expecting you down the road. :DNotes:***Dan Miller, “Living on purpose”.

What do you do when life is unfair? I'm speaking about something that bothers me inside. Do you think it is not a major problem if it can be fixed somehow? It's really hurting me inside.

Life just is. It’s neither fair nor unfair — those labels being solely human creations and definitions. However, you have great control over the course and trajectory of your individual life. That is, you can take any number of possible steps and actions in order to make your life more fair (or less unfair) than you perceive it to be currently. In regards to some personal issue or problem, you can do a variety of things in order to rectify, clarify, or remedy the problem. You can ask for help. You can see a doctor or therapist. Or you can switch doctors or therapists if one in particular isn’t working for you. You can talk to friends or family. You can research the problem online or at the library to get a better understanding of how to fix or deal with the problem. You can take classes to gain new skills or to obtain a certificate or degree that may help you professionally or monetarily. You can join a gym and start working on your physical health. You can change your diet. You can start meditating. You can join a club. You can volunteer. You can join a dating site. The possibilities that exist that can alter or fix or remedy any problem are virtually endless.
