Do You Think It Was Better When We Didnt Have Cell Phones Computers Big Dollar Cable Bills 10

Why are people willing to pay high cable bills when many can receive free TV signals?

I think the ability to select content is what drives some people to check out cable. I also think location and signal power have a lot to do with whether to go OTA or cable. I know in Tucson this past year, I was an installer for DISH Network, and there was something going on that the local TV networks were not broadcasted over the satellite for the area. (Satellite TV also does location targeted local programming based on subscribers zip-code) So the solution was to give customers a free HD OTA antenna with installation. These were several hundred dollar high end HD antennas. It worked as well or even better then the local programming beamed down from the satellite.Another interesting thing was going on when I installed DirecTV a few years ago. The local channels for Yuma, AZ were hosted from a different satellite then the main content. As a result, the local channels were not HD, but customers who figured out that they could cut $5.00 off the monthly bill by turning off locals while at the same time using an OTA for locals were getting the local channels in high definition, religious channels, channels out of Mexico, and whatever other stuff you could only find with an OTA antenna. So, in that case, the OTA was the better option as long as it was a decent antenna. Some of the OTA channels in Yuma do not broadcast with much power.

My Mom put bills in my name when I was a minor without my knowledge and ruined my credit...?

My mother put the Gas and Phone bill in my name when I was 15 the bill accumulated to 3,000 and she didn't pay it.The Phone bill is up high to but I don't know the price...A few months after that I found an electric bill in my name too! it was up to 1,000.Now I have an 8,000 dollar gas bill a 1,000 dollar electric bill and a 700 dollar phone bill. How can I fix this?! Is there any way to? and why didn't these companies verify my social security number? Could I fight the companies for illegally putting stuff in my name to get the bills cleared? Any suggestions or advice on this matter is greatly appreciated.Thank You.

They say that today's cell phones have more computing power than NASA used to go to the moon in the 1960s. If that's true and assuming I have my own rocket, what apps would I need to make it from Earth to the moon with just a phone and a rocket?

well, this is something i really like to know, so i googled it.based on computer world,  Apollo 11: The computers that put man on the moon ,  the  Apollo Guidance Computer (AGC) had approximately 64Kbyte of memory and operated at 0.043MHz."The importance of this computer was highlighted in a lecture by astronaut David Scott who said: "If you have a basket ball and a baseball 14 feet apart, where the baseball represents the moon and the basketball represents the Earth, and you take a piece of paper sideways, the thinness of the paper would be the corridor you have to hit when you come back.""Along with the APG, mainframes were also heavily used in the Apollo programme. Over 3,500 IBM employees were involved, (pictured below). TheGoddard Space Flight Center used IBM System/360 Model 75s for communications across Nasa and the spacecraft."and here is the IBM System/360 based on Wiki, and Model 75 got CPU Bandwidth of 41 and Memory of 1,024KB.on the other side, Apple mobile application processors, A4 (for iPhone 4) is running with 800MHz and 512MBi think this gap is quite big, since only a few guys i know are still using a 2010 phone. and i am sure you have more power in your hand.so the force is with you, use it.

Is cable considered a utility bill?

Generally, yes. They just want proof that it's your actual address. Biolife required me to supply proof of residency when I moved, but I didn't have any utility bills in my name (Living with my parents). They sent me a postcard. When I came in the following week with the postcard mailed to the new address, that was proof enough of the new address.

Can I have two phone accounts from two carriers open under my name at the same time?

You can have accounts with each carrier no problem. Look at it this way you can purchase cable from one company for cable in your living room but you will no pay for it in any other room for anyone else if they want it in their own room. Lets say your little sister needs cable in her own room and wants to pay for it but needs an adult to actually purchase the cable contract. She wants to buy from another company than the one you are paying for. You can buy cable from another company for that separate room and they both will work because they are separate contracts with separate companies and will not interfere with one another. They cannot force you to choose their company exclusively over another, especially if they are not willing to work with you to add another line to begin with. You will just have two different contracts with two different companies and will have to pay two different people possibly with different dates of the bills being due. If you can manage that you can do it. Best of luck!

I want to extend my ethernet to over 300 feet. How do I do this?

As others have noted, extending _to_ 300ft isn't a problem as it is just within the maximum range possible with copper cabling. Beyond that you either need a powered repeater in the middle or if that is not possible you need to switch media - optical fiber would be the natural alternative. 1000BASE-LX on single mode fiber can span 5km at a time which should be enough for most sites.

Fiber is not as expensive as often made out for a simple point to point link. Basic switches with either fiber interfaces built in, or that can be added via GBIC or SFP gigabit modules, are available used on ebay for the low tens of dollars, or new for perhaps $150. You'll need one at each end to convert to and from copper wiring. I have a few Netgear managed switches here that would fit the bill: they all cost under the equivalent of $25 inclusive of postage, and include 24 regular RJ45 jacks as well for plugging in all the other network equipment.
