Do You Think Our Two Party System Is Really Working I

Does our two party system work?

Half of it does, the other half ( liberal Democrats) is a complete failure. God bless.

When will we break from our failed two party system?

As it stands with this election, I am currently supporting the Dems as I feel they are the closest to giving back some freedoms to the people of the country. The truth is though that neither party truly is for giving power and freedom back to us individualists. The Democrates limit our freedoms in the name of social fainess, and the Republicans take our rights in the name of security and fear. I would like to form a government where a person has control of his or her life without oppression from those that promote fear and political correctness. What should we, as a free people, do to break the strangle hold our government has on our absolute right to free and uninhibited lives.

Support the freedom of the individual!

Two-party or multi-party system?

I'd like to know the opinion of some people here on Answers.

Do you believe our two-party system generally covers most American's ideologies or do you favour a multi-party system?

I'm not calling for a change to the Westminster system or a parliamentary system, but I think the U.S. would be a bit more well-rounded if we had more proportional representation that included libertarian, reform, and green ideals in our government.

If people had more knowledge of what some of these parties stood for, do you think we'd still have a two-party system?

How is multi party system is more beneficial than two party system?

First, let’s re-word the question for the sake of grammatical correctness. “How is a multi party system more beneficial than a two party system?”I have considered the benefits of a viable third party since the 2016 election when given the choice of Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton. I felt and have now concluded that Trump will go down as the worst President ever if, in fact, our nation and the world can survive his Presidency. Clinton had her issues but would likely have been far more respected in our own country and with the rest of the world. The reality is that I could not in good conscience vote for either candidate due to the complete lack of positive character and integrity of Trump and the concept of embracing a party platform which is truly pro-life in its broadest sense.Neither the Republican or Democratic party, in my opinion, is pro-life. The Democratic platform chooses to embrace the concept of “choice” allowing the killing of unborn children through abortion supported by the legal system and taxpayer dollars. The Republican Party proudly touts its pro-life platform which in reality is only a pro-unborn platform as it refuses to deal with the reality of climate change and its effect on the entire human race, ignores reasonable gun control primarily due to NRA pressure and has an immigration policy which has torn families apart.Moderation, rather than the extreme right or left, would be welcome by many Americans. Perhaps we could consider a platform which focuses on our nation’s future and the welfare of our children and grandchildren as well as the entirety of life from womb to tomb.We need an American Party third party effort.

Would you favor a multi-party system?

Yes, of course. The Democratic and Republican parties offer nothing in the way of actual democracy, and only serve to stifle progress socially, politically, and economically. I favor a parliamentary system of government, which would allow for greater party participation in national elections and open the doors to new ideas and fresh outlooks. I would like to see the Green, Socialist, Libertarian, Communist, and various other center-left parties obtain greater political representation in Washington and throughout the nation. They offer viable and relevant alternatives that are of interest and could easily gain ground if a multi-party system were adopted.

Do you believe that the traditional two-party system that we currently have in place in the United States works? Why, or why not?

Oh, it works. It works magnificently. It is a terrible system. It is terrible because it works so well. See, to find out if the system works, we must ask: What is the purpose of the American two-party system? The answer is that the two-party system exists to wrestle the power in a democracy out of the hands of the people. It exists to make politics a sport for the elite, to give them power and control over vast swaths of the population, without any real need to do anything to earn that power.Take evan a 3 party system. Nation A is 45% Conservative, 37% Liberal, and 18% Socialist. The Liberal party keeps losing elections, so they merge with the Socialists, who are also losing, and suddenly the nation is 45% Conservative and 55% Libero-Socialist. So a two-party system consolidates power. This is fine when there is a clear majority that can be made, but as the number of opinions grows, the parties start to become so large that they either represent so many differing opinions that they become useless, and break apart (Republicans become Tea Party, Libertarians, et al) or begin to skew toward an extreme, because straying too close to center makes you look like one of them. Now, people either don't vote because they agree with neither party, or they vote blindly for the us candidate so that they (the people who disagree with the voter) dont get gontrol and bring about the apocalypse.Because of this, politicians just have to be part of whatever party controls their district and they have a guaranteed job (barring scandal or a schism within the party/just angering the wrong person).Parties make politicians jobs so easy that they don't have to do much of anything to get elected, as people who disagree with them will usually just not vote. After all, why vote if your party never wins your district anyway? So yes, it works, but it’s still a bad system.
