Is the UK really a police state?
When I lived in the UK the police were the most polite police I had met. They don’t carry guns. I parked my car illegally without realising. Being an Aussie the street markings were different.As I parked a policeman came up behind me and signalled he wanted to speak to me. Very kindly he asked me not to park there, didn’t issue a ticket, then because of my accent pointed out the road markings. I had an International licence, which he had never seen before.He asked for the proof the car was mine and registered. It had a registration sticker , in Australia you can’t get a car registered without a roadworthy certificate. I said it’s got a registration sticker, can’t you just call and check the car details as the Australian police would.This was quite a while ago and to my surprise they didn’t have a system to check stolen cars which linked to registration and roadworthies. I had to cart a mountain of paperwork to the police station the next day. There were so many papers I had to ask my partner what they all meant.I don’t know whether they still have white vans checking for people without a TV licence. I had no idea you had to have a TV licence and a white van with antennas would park in the street checking for people who had the temerity to not have their TV’s registered. I thought it was police surveillance. Nope they were the bureaucracy policing the very serious business of not having a TV licence. I’m sure it’s different now.A question should be is UK tied up in so much red tape is it a more a bureaucratic state than a police state? Mountains of paperwork for absolutely everything.The UK police are affable compared to police in other parts of the world. I don’t now why the UK police are so polite. Maybe it’s because they seem proud to be police. The most watched programs on UK TV are police programs, where integrity of policing is upheld. As the police are respected in the UK they seem to show the same level of respect to their citizens, I wish police in other countries would take a leaf from the UK police. Give respect and you’ll get respect.

Yep I fear every time I re-enter the UK. From the moment I get off the plane and at customs check they ask me where I have come from, welcome back and did I have a pleasant time. Completely prying Into my private life, how dare they ask how was my trip.Then heading back home all those non-existing cops asking for my non-existent national ID with a fine if don't have it on hand I swear it's becoming more and more totalitarian every time I go back.Don't even get me started when I arrive back to my small town the racial abuse there is massive. Like wow I can't believe my friends come from several different ethnic groups and we can actually get along it's almost unheard of here.One of my business partners is an ex cop in London but better keep that on the down low he isn't allowed to have a business on the side working as a cop as you know it's a police state after all….Yep definitely the whole of the UK is becoming more of a police state by the day.The only thing I can really say which may give you some credit to your question is how bloody PC the Country has become and how the complaints which I see on TV when I return are truly first world problems only which make me chuckle every time I listen to them.As a whole the UK is an extremely liberal Country with a bit of a mindset problem of protectionism currently.
Between the U.S and Great Britain which system do you think is more democratic?
I would say Great Britain. The U.S. has the electoral college for one thing and basically only a two party system. I see more countries emulating GB than US government. I know In the US we tend to think were better but people coming here come for economic gain not our way of government.

yes I lived in UK 69-71, they had less crime than Philadelphia- the city of brotherly love- now they have a greater crime rate than the U.S, wholesale immigration has been their downfall.
Why do people think Britain has no firearms?
I must admit my own ignorance to the prevelance of firearm ownership among private citizens in Britain.The onslaught of media, our former president and even professed British citizens claiming guns are basically outlawed in Britain led me to buy into the story.The fact that I had no interest in trying to convince anyone that Britain should change their stance on gun control if their system works for them meant there was little incentive to do any research into the number of private gun owners in Britain.If you were curious why the previously mentioned groups go so far in implying that British citizens don’t own firearms, it is quite obvious. They can’t use the lower firearm related homicide rates of Britain to push the false narrative that civillian gun ownership causes a higher homicide rate, if British citizens still own firearms.The fact that their citizens are armed would force people to have to accept that guns aren’t the problem and look into what is the real cause of the alleged higher homicide rate in the U.S.That could possibly lead to the correct conclusion that one of the main problems in the U.S. is the disingenuous war on drugs. If that information got out, they would loose their justification for pouring trillions of dollars of taxpayer money into a problem that they are creating in order to build up their police state.

It was a combination of factors but one of the largest is after the American Revolution was won, the British still did not vacate their forts in the United States and would interfere with trade in ways such as capturing U.S. vessels in the Great Lakes.

Meanwhile, here in Scotland I have the right to do all kinds of things I can’t do in the USA ranging from the right to walk and camp across uncultivated private land to the right to have medical treatement without bankrupting myself to the right to move abroad without having to report my earnings to the UK tax authorities - this last quirk is one which only two states in the world insist on, the USA and that paragon of democratic freedom, Eritrea.See how easy it is to cherry pick and make a country out to be a totalitarian hellhole?

Why would you even think that?It’s not our police that go around randomly shooting people for no real reason. If I’m stopped by the police in my car I don’t have to sit still, hands on the wheel, and not make a move because I fear being shot - hell, I can even get out of my car and talk to them!Please present the “evidence” you have for me living in a police state - but anything sourced from Fox “News” or the idiot in the White House will be discounted immediately as “fake news”.
