How can one small act of kindness go a long way?
Everyone can use a little kindness. A smile. A hello.I remember a story of a very busy executive who was struggling with his employees. His assistant suggested he try something to show his appreciation and encourage his employees to appreciate each other. She showed him the blue ribbon game.Each person gets 4 ribbons. 2 to share, and 2 for those you shared with to share with others. The ribbons were on a paper that had lines asking what the sharer wanted to say to the person expressing their appreciation.It went over well that day.All his staff were getting accolades and giving accolades. There were blue ribbons on everyone! He was overwhelmed with how many he got! He asked his assistant for one blank one to bring home to his teenage son. He'd been working so much that he didn't have a lot of time for him lately and with all this love being shared, he wanted to spread it home.He wrote a very sweet and deep message to his son and proudly handed it to him.The boy fell to his knees crying hysterically. The father didn't know what to do or what was happening. The boy calmed down and they sat together. The boy tearfully told his father that he felt he didn't love him anymore. He was planning to commit suicide….. until his dad handed him that ribbon with the kind words written just for him.One act of kindness can save someone's life.
