Do You Think The Police Ticketed Me

Can a police car be ticketed for illegal parking?

Can you physically write a citation and manually put it under the windshield wiper of a police vehicle? Of course. The question becomes, "Who is going to ticket it?" The answer is nobody. What people forget is that these aren't joy jalopies we tool around town in. They're emergency vehicles. Short of a warning ticket written from one officer to another as a joke, this just isn't going to happen. We once had a blowhard take a multiple-minute video of one of our patrol cars that had two tires in a fire zone and post it on YouTube, complete with commentary about how we were endangering the lives of citizens and parking illegally and honk honk honk quack quack. The light bar on top means something. We're not going to obstruct traffic or cause a dangerous situation, because it would be self-defeating - we would be cleaning up the mess. So, can? I guess. Will? No.

I got a speeding ticket. Can I win on court if the police officer don't have any proof of my actual speeding?

As part of their training, officers learn to estimate speed by just looking at your vehicle and the surrounding area. They can also get your speed by pacing you. Neither of these methods have "proof" that they can show. The court will believe the officer over you because the officer has no reason to lie about your speed. You, on the other hand, do have a reason why you might lie.

And anyway, the officer did give you a break on the ticket. He could have ticketed you for 80 mph. You should be happy you didn't get cited for reckless driving.

One last thing: How does your weight and height being wrong on the ticket show that you were not speeding? It doesn't, does it? If you bring this up in court, the officer will get the chance to amend the citation to reflect the weight and height from your drivers' license.

Do parents find out if police pull you over but don't issue a ticket or a warning?

I was driving back to college from home with my girlfriend in the car, and we pulled over in an empty parking lot so I could return an important phone call that I got while I was still on the road. This was taking place at around 11:00pm, so it was dark, and as it turns out, this parking lot happened to be for a city office of some sort. I got off the phone and was talking to my girlfriend about something, when suddenly behind us is a police car. Apparently he thought it looked like we were involved in "suspicious activity," which wasn't helped by the foggy windows of the car due in part to the near freezing temperatures outside and our prolonged stay in the car. I guess it doesn't take any large stretch of the imagination to see that we probably looked pretty sketchy. Anyway, I roll down my window and hear the officer saying my parents' names over his radio, as my car is registered to them, and he comes up to the window. It wasn't a big deal, he was just checking I guess to make sure we weren't doing anything scandalous or breaking in or something, and the officer and I were polite to each other and such and nothing came of it.

My worry, however, is that if my parents catch wind of this, there will be trouble. They are very conservative, and I guess I'm not a really wild person or whatever, but if I have to explain that my girlfriend and I were in an empty parking lot at night and the police ended up being involved, knowing them they will inevitably think we were doing a little more than just talking, and I know that wouldn't be taken well at all by them.

So anyway, if I'm just "pulled over," and I don't get ticketed or get a warning or anything, but my license plate is registered to my parents, will they hear about it? Because if so I'd like to get on top of this and just tell them about it, but if they won't get a notice or something I'd rather just not bring it up, because it would just be way more trouble than it's worth.

Thanks!

Can campus police really give you a ticket?

since the road/parking lot at walmart is not owned, funded or maintained by texas (txdot) police cannot give you a ticket for running a stop sign. they CAN for parking in a handicapped spot but thats different .. handicapped spots are required.. stop signs arn't.. same with the annoying spots for "pregnant woman" at the mall.. you can park there all day and they cant do anything about it because it isnt against the law.. and it is sexiest agains men.. because we cant get pregnent :)

Can a police officer give you a ticket for parking "crooked"?

So there is this one police officer that, i feel, is anxious to give me a ticket for anything. Every morning I go to a cafe that's on my way to work, this is the ONLY place is the that is convenient and is on the way. So one time I messed up, there was no parking in front and I parked on the red zone. I get inside and there are 4 police officers sitting in front of the window and waving their fingers at me. I asked them if I should go repark my car and they said no that they will let me slide this one time. Ok so about a week later I drive by the coffee place again and there is no parking,I find a tiny spot, so I park really fast and run inside to get coffee. I'm gone 2 minutes, I come out the same cop is standing next to my car waiting for me. The back of my car was touching a curb and the front was sticking out into the street past other cars, so it looked really crooked. But to my defense, it was still within white lines drawn on the ground for parking. I said I was really sorry, but its 6 am and I really needed coffee, and he replied that he gets the impression that I just don't care.
Every day since then, whenever I ran into him, he keeps staring at me. This morning I parked beautifully! and right in front of the cafe. When i was coming out I saw the same police officer crossing the street and really focusing on my car, like he was trying to find something to give me crap about. WTF, aren't they supposed to be impartial? i really feel that he has a grudge against me now, should I just avoid that cafe from now on or should i politely ask him to stop staring and that it makes me uncomfortable?

Can you get a ticket for using HIGH Beams?

my left headlight isnt working. Autozone is already closed(sunday)walmart doesnt have this headlights. Can i get a ticket or get stopped if a Police Officer sees me with the High Beams? Why?

Can you arrange a meeting with the police officer about a speeding ticket at the police station?

I just got my first ever speeding ticket on the freeway, not from CHP (California Highway Patrol) officer but an officer wearing a navy blue uniform, probably LAPD. I was very polite and did not argue with the officer, but showed all the required documents and drove away with the ticket.

I was reading in a website about what you can do to better your chances at having the ticket dismissed and one of the suggestions ( other than delaying the court date and the radar gun calibration malfunction) was talking to the officer who gave you the ticket at the police station. This suggestion seems far-fetched to me but can one actually do that and request that arrangement? And if one is able to do it, is it effective or just plain desperate?!

Would writing a letter to the officer that gave me a ticket help?

NO
But the letter is nice, address it to the judge for consideration at trial.
